In August:

We did another Board & Brush class for a birthday celebration. Then we went out for dinner and drinks, which is always a good time.

We did some work on the exterior of our house - I know you're supposed to do a lot of that stuff in spring, but eh. We replaced the shutters, ripped up a bunch of plants and planted some boxwoods. I got some stones from Lowes to make like an edging or whatever it's called. We are undecided about the other side of the little patio yet, which is why it is still a mess. We are getting pricing on ripping it out and replacing it with something bigger - might be a better option than just extending. Would look better anyway. This may destroy my pretty boxwoods, but they were only $8 so I am okay with that. I didn't get a proper before picture of under the big window, there was a bunch of plants and stuff there before that I got rid of all by myself thank you very much.

My work had a little outing to Main Event which was a lot of fun. We did laser tag, bowling, gravity ropes and played arcade games. Don't have a ton of pictures because don't want to put all the work people up here.

KC and I went to a soccer game with his brother and wife, the game was unfortunately quite boring, 0-0. The company was fun. KC always makes stupid faces when I try and take a nice photo of us.

Then we did brunch with KC's family for his birthday. The only photo I got was of this mimosa, that KC ordered and made me laugh so hard when he said 'ugh, this tastes like champagne!' like what did you think mimosas were KC?! Luckily, I was there to take it off his hands.

I've mentioned this before but I don't talk about it a lot, I work for a construction company. We went to one of our job sites and then World of Beer afterwards. I love seeing our projects go from nothing to a building, start to finish. I think it's so fascinating. Anyway, I can't shut up about Ciderboys ciders. So good. I want to try them all.

One of the things I was most excited about in August was the Four n Twenty truck coming to Louisville! I mentioned them a few months ago and said I would drive to Indy or Cincy or anywhere within 2 hours to get some meat pies, but thankfully they came here so I didn't have to. There were obviously a few other Aussies there and we stood around and chatted about weirdo Americans (kidding, kidding) until it started pouring. Seriously, made my day/month/year. Anyway, sorry for talking about it 75 times. I'm trying to convince KC to go to the US AFL final up in Wisconsin in November. Because there will be meat pies there.

Later that day, KC and I tried a new-to-us restaurant (falafel house, if you're local) and it was delicious. I've been really craving mediterranean food lately.

Then, one more birthday celebration - we did one of those thirsty pedalers, which I've always wanted to do. It was a ton of fun. Nelly came to 4th street live (which is where the thirsty pedaler starts and finishes) afterwards but we ended up leaving before he got there.

Finally, I drove to Lexington to meet Ilona Andrews, which was fantastic. They were hilarious and so friendly. But apparently they don't like smiling in photos, it's fine. They really were so freaking nice and it was SO fun chatting with other fans.

So that was August, quite a busy month for us! What's new with you?
