November 2017 Recap - What's New With You Link Up

Good morning everyone! Time for another link up with Gretch & me, all we ask is that you link back somewhere in your post. Thanks a bunch. I'll be doing another monthly recap because that's how I roll.

What's New With You

November was weird. I was looking through my phone for photos for this post and the things I did in November feel like they were 2-3 months ago, rather than a few weeks ago. I want to say I can't believe we are in December already but I know how time works so I do believe it, but still. It's weird. We are almost in 2018. As I'm sure you are aware.

As for what I actually did in November... it was a quiet month, but I'm never complaining about that.

My bestie and I drove up to Ikea, I got a bunch of money back from stuff we didn't use for the kitchen, bought a bunch of fun things, ate pizza and drank wine.

I forgot to ask for no olives on that pizza and I was so mad at myself.  I picked them off because I'm not a diva, but I didn't want to share the picture and have anyone think I was an olive lover. Not that there's anything wrong with that if you are.... but I am most definitely not.

I hung out with my other besties, played games and ate food.. always a good time.

I hosted book club, but no photos of the awesome taco bar, so basically it didn't happen. That same day we ran a half marathon in the park we run at every Sunday. They gave out Derby pie and apparently I fail as a Kentuckian because I was not a fan, no sirree. I was like, where are my bagels and chocolate milk?

And that's about it. I was upset one day for some stupid reason or another and KC cheered me up by taking me to World Market and letting me get whatever I wanted. Hashtag true love right there y'all. I ate all of it in one night (save one can of beans) and I felt super sick, so that was fun.

Anyone indulge in any post-thanksgiving sales? I did quite a bit of shopping - mostly online of course - and I got some fun things. Also, an obscene amount of books because they were all on sale. ALL THE SALES. Gosh, I am such a sucker but I don't even care. I am hoping to share all the things I bought if they work out and I like them. I am still waiting for some of the things to arrive, if you're spoiled because of Amazon prime, raise your hand.

So, what's new with you?

  1. I don't like olives at all so I'd definitely be taking them off the pizza, too!

  2. Also not an olives fan. I tried, but it's really not happening.

Congrats on the half! What is derby pie? It's got to be really special to beat bagels and chocolate milk.

I bought one thing (for me!) online in the black friday/cyber monday sales but I got so annoyed at the constant spam reminding me all about the SUPER SPECIAL EXTRA GOOD sales that I then refused to buy anything on principle. I didn't think any of the sales were that great anyway. Amazon just launched here - like, yesterday - but no prime as yet. Can't wait!

  3. Look at you running a half marathon like it's no big deal :) Yes I'd love to know what you bought and whether you like it! You always have some good finds.

  4. I love olives but the older I get the more people I know that don't like them. Growing up I just assumed everyone loved them lol. My friend & I were just talking about the sometimes weird/different things they give you at the end of the race. Like "oh, you just ran x number of miles...here's a big beer/burger/piece of pie"

  5. I dont really like olives EXCEPT on pizza! lol I always get it on pizza hehe. Yay for the half marathon and the book club! How cool that you host one in person. I bought a ridiculous number of kindle books on black friday. And yes please share what you got :)

  6. I hate olives too! Especially on pizza or nachos. I like how you pointed that out because of your pic though lol. November was a weird month for me too. December has been great so far though :) way to go on the half marathon! What is derby pie like?

  7. raises hand . . . Sephora even got on the two day shipping game for $10 a year and it's totally worth it. I am not an olive lover either, but I just pick them off as well. Book club, heart eyes!! You'r right, we need pics, lol. Looks like you had a great month!

  8. World Market kills me. I spent so much money in their liquor store the last time I was there I almost cried. Also I would have eaten your Derby Pie! It is my fave. And I am also spoiled with Prime. When something takes longer than two days I don’t get it.

  9. Honestly, your "quiet" month still had a lot of fun stuff going on! I do feel like you have been especially quiet (on the blog & social) so I'm glad to finally hear what you've been up to! I need to google Derby pie and see what that's all about! I've never even heard of it!

  10. I hear you on not believe but understanding time, ha. The pizza looks delicious, I hate olives toooooo! Book club and taco bar, what a perfect combination. :)!

  11. Look at you with all your half marathons. I’m still working on 5k’s without feeling like death, ha. There were so many book sales after Thanksgiving, so I can’t blame you for buying a lot! A trip to IKEA always is a plus in my book. Hope all is well, friend!

  12. World Market is the best and always makes me feel better too. What is Derby Pie? I love olives but NOT on my pizza. Nope nope nope. I wish I could be in book club with you!

  13. Aww, so sweet of KC to help cheer you up!
November was kind of a quiet months for me, too. I mean, I definitely did stuff, but nothing was monumental or extraordinary.
I'm not a fan of olives either- I hate when I forget to ask for them off my salads. Bleh.

  14. I was going to say "Mmmmm pizza, minus the olives!" and then kept reading haha. I don't like olives (or derby pie) either. We just got a World Market in my neighborhood last month but I haven't been yet because holiday craziness and crowds galore. There was literally a line to get in... no thank you. I really want to go when it quiets down though! I didn't shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but I did buy a bunch of last minute stuff while the sales lasted. I'll probably end up returning some of it, but better to get it with the deal than wait!

  15. Derby pie after a half marathon? Hmm... That's definitely different! I'm like you, I want the bagel. I was so disappointed when I did the PJ 10 Miler several years back. By the time I finished, the bagels were gone and all they had left was Papa John's pizza... in the morning... after I completed hoofed 10 miles in the frigid cold. I love me some pizza, but that was just wrong... LOL!

  16. DAMN YOU now I'm perusing the World Market site for things I don't need.

    What is derby pie?

  17. I'm laughing at all the comments asking about derby pie...I'm a bad Kentuckian because I've never even had it, and it doesn't appeal at all. lol Yay for a fun book club - taco bar? I'd be down for that! I definitely bought a lot after Thanksgiving, but not really any books. I would have blown so much money if I'd really started looking at books - there are so many on my wish list!

  18. Yay! I'm so excited to join your link up! I've been seeing the posts pop up on Happy Pretty Sweet, and wrote my own post on November 27th in preparation for this link up. It's such a great way to take stock of the month, and remember all the fun! Sometimes these things pass by so fast, and I get caught up feeling like I'm not doing enough.

I'm an olive lover, btw. I think it's the Italian in me :)

  19. I'm with you - I feel like November was months ago and remain confused about how it can be December. I do wish it was December 2020 though. :D What is Derby Pie? I'd rather have bagels and chips over something sweet. I have mixed feelings about olives. I really love green olives but black olives, it depends. Sometimes I'm okay with them; sometimes I'm not. And that's just a lady's prerogative.

  20. Time is weird. And fast and all that. Such a good month though from the highlight reel anyways! Wine and friends and food and reading and runs? Perfect. Thanks for hosting!!

  21. Sometimes (or maybe all the time lol) quiet months are the best! I loooove olives, but not on my pizza so I don't blame you for picking them off ;) Great job on your race! What's in a derby pie? Book club with a taco bar sounds amazing- what a great idea! All of your Australian sweets look so good- World Market can be so dangerous, so many good treats!

  22. Girllll I can't do olives either - blech! But IKEA, wine, and pizza? Yes please! <3

  23. I love olives on pizza! The more the better! My husband HATES them and if heaven forbid one slips over onto his half he gets so upset, lol!

  24. I like black olives, but green not so much. The greek ones are ok in small pieces. but when you get a whole one it's insane. Um, IKEA! YAY! :) bummer about the lack of taco bar pictures, but I hope that it went well. Woohoo for book clubs IRL! Oh lord. That's so many sweets. heheh I bought a lot of treats there for our advent calendar. Including a "violet crumble" bar for the Australia fact day. Because that is what they had. We have eaten exactly ZERO of the treats I've purchased.. .because we're never hungry for the candies and other people keep feeding us. Kind of a fail on my part. Should have picked something less food related... LOL Do you know about these six white boomers? I'm guessing yes, but it was our Australia fun fact. Too funny. KC googled the song and we've been singing the chorus around the house for days. LOLOL XO - Alexandra

  26. Such a sweet husband taking you to World Market to cheer you up with some goodies! That's great you were able to get back a bunch of money from supplies you didn't end up using! Have a great weekend!

  27. I love a quiet month too! I've never heard of derby pie, but I googled it and it sounds kind of delicious! Haha! A taco bar at a book club meeting is such a good idea. I'm hosting soon and may have to do that at my meeting.
