I totally roll my eyes when people say this all the time, but then I catch myself saying it, so I am rolling my eyes at myself. How are we in September right now? How do the days and months keep going by so fast, or so normal but seems fast? Where has this year gone? I feel like we've done so much and also like we've done nothing at all. It's weird. Not gonna lie, I am already for 2018. But I suppose I shouldn't wish the rest of this year away.
So. August. It was definitely the month of the kitchen renovation - yes, I know July was as well. This thing is taking forever. Honestly, the part that takes the longest is just waiting on other people. You do the demo but you have to wait on the drywall guys to come fix it, but before that the plumber, electrician and HVAC guy have to do their thing and of course it's not like you snap your fingers and they all show up on the same day. It's one big waiting game. We are almost at the end though, I see the light!
I won't really share anything about the kitchen today because eventually when I get my head screwed on properly and my house is in order again, I will share actual posts rather than catch ups.
So what have I been up to? Running with my friend and her dogs, though not as often because life and stuff. Lots of home depot trips. Lots of people in and out of the house doing stuff. Ikea sending all the things they didn't send the first time. KC putting my island together (I was worried it would be pointless or too small, I know it's early days but I LOVE it!). New gas stove!! More kitchen stuff. Kitchen kitchen kitchen. That's life right now!
Of course there was also the eclipse - you guys heard about that right? KC was off for the day so he came to my work to watch it with us. I really didn't care about the eclipse until the day of, so glad I saw it because I thought it was really cool. The best part was this random child who decided KC was his new bestie though.
and just in case you forgot I have some weird cats too - Millie's face when KC was using a nail gun made me laugh far harder than it should have. It was way funnier in person but I'm glad I got a photo of the nutter.
But cheers to the kitchen almost being done! Can't wait to share it all!

Oh, I got my hair cut too. Pretty short. Shoulder length-ish. But no photos?! Am I even a blogger right now?! But enough about me - what's new with you?
KC and the random kid! That is hilarious. I wasn't all that excited about the eclipse either, and then it came and I freaked out. Haha!
ReplyDeleteAw KC and his little friend, so cute! I am super jealous of your kitchen and I love the island.
ReplyDeleteYay for the kitchen being nearly done!
ReplyDeleteMy friend is renovating her house and one day some of the workmen just didn't show up (and never came back again). Rude!
The kitchen is looking amazing! A labour of love indeed, you'll be so proud when it's done. KC making kid friends is everything. I'm quite jealous of the eclipse, I googled whether Australia will get one and... nope.
ReplyDeletePost hair photos! I need a cut so badly but am putting it off because I'm scared to try a new hairdresser. It's such an exercise in trust!

ReplyDeleteIt's like you live there again!!!
ReplyDeleteYou guys have made such strides with the kitchen! It's no joke that's for sure! And you haven't killed each other yet! Thanks for the link up and happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteYay for the kitchen!! Can't wait to see more of the house! You guys are doing amazing. I feel the same way about the months passing by..always feel like a loser for saying that but its SO TRUE.
ReplyDeleteAlllll the home depot trips here too. Good gravy! Wanna see the haaaaaaaair!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great month! I love how the kitchen looks already and you're not done! That's awesome, I hope that you are done soon though! It was cloudy on eclipse day for us, but it still felt cool. Hope we get to see it in 2024. :) KC and that random kid is too cute! :P LOL on the cat photos. Cats are the strangest animals, I love them. XO - Alexandra

I love your kitchen floor! Ready to see the kitchen post and I'm sure you're ready for it all to be done so you can post about it :) Millie's face - hilarious! Cat reactions to unusual noises are always a hoot.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is looking so good lady!! And you guys are too cute with your eclipse shades on. KC looks adorable with that little kid!!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, waiting around for other people is the worst sometimes! I'm glad that your kitchen is almost finished though. I'm sure it will look great. And your cats are too cute!!

I'm way way behind on blog reading. Did you do a kitchen post yet?
ReplyDeleteHouse things are all consuming.
Look at your kitchen coming along!!!! Waiting on other people to do things is the worst. You just want to be like I WANT IT NOW! Verruca Salt style. Millie's face is seriously cracking me up. Pets are weird. The eclipse was pretty cool. I was a little underwhelmed that it didn't get darker though. You would think with 94% it would have been darker than it was here but apparently that sun is just REALLY that bright!
ReplyDeleteBleh I missed the link up because MOVING SUCKS! I have internet issues and am now just able to actually see my apartment under boxes. lol
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your kitchen looks great so far and the island really is cute. I think I need an island. When I eventually do a house tour you'll see why. Did you have totality for the eclipse? I think I may have been more excited if there was totality here. There wasnt though ha!
The kitchen is already looking fabulous, cannot wait to see it all!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, your kitchen!!!!!! I need to paint my cabinets, but I'm desperately procrastinating haha give me your motivation (please)!
ReplyDeleteLove your new oven/stove. So shinyyyyy. I wish mine was gas! Your kitchen is coming along great- the end is near! I was a little bummed that it didn't get darker during the eclipse, and that the school I work at (which is a science/tech school) didn't plan or do anything for it. I still thought it was pretty cool though!
ReplyDeleteOH That kitchen!! It's so amazing. It looks so good already. Can't wait to see it when it is completed. I love those stools you have.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with extra information? It is extremely helpful for me. seo expert
ReplyDeleteIt feels like everyone I know is redoing their kitchen...I'm jealous but not(too much work) plus i live in an apartment! Looks great though!
ReplyDeleteYay for the kitchen remodel almost being over! From what I can see - it looks fantastic! And I am insanely jealous of your island. It's my dream to one day have a normal kitchen instead of a tiny one. I love Millie's concerned face. :D I bet the fur babies are loving that sun room. Now Max is insanely jealous of their sun room. LOL!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're in the home stretch with the kitchen, yay! It definitely is an all-consuming life thing, but you'll be so happy and relieved when it's finished. Can't wait to see it all!
ReplyDeleteHooray for the kitchen almost being done!
ReplyDeleteI love when kids just adopt strangers as their best friend.
ReplyDelete... confession, I do that to people myself even still ;) haha
Haha Millie's face is priceless! And I'm right there with you with feeling like this year is going by so incredibly fast. I feel like that really happens a lot when you're so focused on special projects. I can't wait to see how everything turns out in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is looking gorgeous so far!! Love the white cabinets and those floors...awesome work!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of KC and the kid is too cute. How much of the eclipse did you get? We had about 92% where we were, so it didn't get totally dark, but it was still very cool. Your kitchen looks amazing so far! I can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteooo your kitchen looks AMAZING so far!! can't wait to see the rest. I love that little kid decided that KC was going to be his bestie; did your heart melt or what?!
ReplyDeleteYay kitchen! I love seeing your instastories about it, honestly. Great seeing it all come together!
ReplyDeleteThe eclipse wasn't really anything special around here but you probably had a great view of it. Glad you got to enjoy!
The cats' faces are amazing. Hahaha! I can't believe how many boxes you guys have/had. That's insane. I'm glad the project is almost done, though! I can't wait to see a full recap! It looks great in all your pictures/snaps!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen looks so good! Can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteThat cat picture is hilarious! And I'm not even one to really like cat pictures! That one's just begging to get some text slapped on it and meme'd all over the place :)
ReplyDeleteThat kitchen reno looks INTENSE. I'm a huge fan of HGTV, so I think my rational brain forgets sometimes that real life renovations just do NOT happen quick. Period. Excited to see what it looks like in the end, though!
Yess the waiting/coordinating everyone is such a hassle- I remember I was convinced we could patch up the drywall ourselves and my husband was like yeaaaa no, lol. I can't wait to see everything once it's finished, it looks amazing from the little bits you've shared. Your eclipse pictures are so fun-- love that KC could come and join you & as always love the cat snaps! I didn't take a picture when I got my haircut either, and I was looking for one because I feel like its already grown a lot, but I can't remember how short it was-- fail!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen is coming along! Bet you will be super glad when it's all complete!
ReplyDeleteAhhh I missed the linkup again!
ReplyDeleteBut for real, your kitchen is beautiful and it will be totally worth it. And pets get very used to the renovation process haha
I've been loving seeing y'alls kitchen renovation!! You guys are freakin' awesome! Millie's face in that picture is HILARIOUS. I never realized how many silly faces cats make. Haha.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed the link up this month but loved the pics and update! So glad you're almost done with the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen is looking so great!! And your cats are such cuties! xo
