Good morning everyone! Time for another link up with Gretch & me, all we ask is that you link back somewhere in your post. Thanks a bunch. Quick apology for last month's link up only being open for like, 2 hours. That was my bad! Thank you to those who pointed it out to me. Promise it won't happen again today. I hope. Ha!

So, normally I'd do a recap of the previous month, except I shared all the house details here. Yay house! We have not done a single thing since that post. I kid you not, we have zero motivation and zero dollars. Jk about the dollars, but really, our bank account needs to recover. We have big plans for after our trip though, can't wait.
I did run the KY derby mini which was a pretty sucky race experience. It was delayed an hour and a half and it just really threw me off and I wasn't feeling it. I ended up staying with my friend the whole time and just enjoyed running with her regardless of time. Free food at the end of course, which is always my favourite part.
Funny thing though, the day after the half marathon, I fell over in my friend's backyard. Just walking. Because I'm nothing if not a clumsy idiot. Sigh. I really hurt my knee though, so keeping off it for now.
Even though the last half of April was quiet and not busy, I feel like we are still recovering from all the house stuff in the first half. Many boxes still unpacked, things aren't organised properly but I just really can't find that missing motivation.

I am really hoping May is a super quiet month. Just over a month before we leave for NZ & Oz!
So, what's new with you?
I hope your knee is better soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your knee! That sucks that the race was delayed so long! At least you had a friend to hang/run with & FREE FOOD!
ReplyDeleteone of the main reasons why i did tough mudder was for the free beer after the race! LOL
ReplyDeleteAt least you ran stress free then and just ran for the food :) a finish is a finish!! Sorry about your knee though, sounds like something I'd do!
ReplyDeleteArgh! Sorry about your knee! Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for you. And I hear you on the struggle to keep up the house project/unpacking motivation! I have to imagine you are generally exhausted from all the work you've done on the house so far! Maybe you can set some rewards for yourself. Unpack two boxes and you get a new book?! LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou people that run races and then say it was "a bad one" always amaze me :) If I started running (jog-walking) and felt like things were going badly, I'd just stop. Hahahahaha. So good for you for powering through! I hope May stays nice and relaxed for you with a sprinkle of motivation ;)
ReplyDeleteHope your knee heals soon! I heard a lot of people say the race delay threw them off... this weather lately has been awful!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the Mini - especially given the atrocious weather conditions that morning and the numerous delays!
ReplyDeletederby mini! ugh to sucky race but free food at the end? ha. my mom has said what horrid weather you guys are getting. awful. also the clumsy thing - i swear that is just me in a nutshell. i look at a wall and i run into it ha.

Oh man. So sorry to hear that the Derby race was sucky and that you hurt yourself after! Definitely not good. I seriously trip over my own feet all the time so I feel you on being clumsy! Hope it gets better soon! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteI read that the race was delayed so long, and I couldn't believe it. I would have been a total hungry mess. They should have put out some food at the start line so people didn't DIE.
ReplyDeleteHope your month is nice and calm. My motivation is also zero, even though I have so much to get done right now. I'm ready for a break from all things wedding.
Good job on your half! I know the delay would have thrown me off too! Free food is always a good motivator!
ReplyDeleteNo WAY would I have waited in that delay (uh, or even run in the first place), so I think you did AWESOME just showing up and running at all.
ReplyDeleteHouse stuff takes a looooong time to recover from.
Oh I hope your knee recovers soon! And I think you guys have deserved a nice quiet month! You did SO much!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your knee! Great timing, right? Hope you bounce back soon. I can't believe your trip is almost here - I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteAt least the tripping was the day AFTER the race & not before.
ReplyDeleteWasnt that a mess that day? UGHHH
So sorry about your knee, totally something I would do! But yay for the race, you continue to rock every single one <3

Sorry to hear that you hurt yourself! I hope you are feeling better. You must be so excited for your trip!!! I cannot wait to hear all about it. Hope this month flies by!!!
ReplyDeleteOh bummer about the race and your knee! That sucks! I hope that it starts feeling better soon! Trip planning is fun though! :) XO - Alexandra

Sorry about your knee! Hopefully, it's doing better. Well, you and K did so much freaking work on the house already that I can understand your lack of motivation. Sometimes you just gotta take a break! Those boxes will be there whenever you're ready to go through them. I must admit that I have a couple boxes I never unpacked from when I moved from Minneapolis ... 10 years ago. :D
ReplyDeleteI totally understand not feeling the motivation to unpack! We felt that way a lot when we moved, and eventually it comes around! That sucks that you hurt your knee, and hopefully it gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteNot every race needs to be a give-it-your-all experience. Sometimes it's just fun to run on the course and have a good time! Sorry it was so delayed though, that's annoying. But always yay for free food!
ReplyDeleteSometimes after a big whirlwind like you had at the beginning of the month it's nice to just do nothing and enjoy the fruits of your labor a little bit. Relax! Enjoy! Fly me down there so I can unpack and organize you! ;)
Oh and feel better, knee! <3
Moving is hard. I feel like it lasts longer than just the actual 'moving' part. I hope your knee feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, If I had a race delayed an hour and a half I'm pretty sure I would just go home! Congrats to you for doing it anyway!
ReplyDeleteI have some home improvement projects hanging over my head (although I'm trying to transfer them to hang over my husband's head) that I'm not looking forward to at all... NOT my favorite way to spend time or money!
Such a long race delay would be annoying. Hope your knee is feeling better soon :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on running the race! That post race food you get always looks great, where do I sign up for that?! I'm looking forward to seeing more home improvement updates :) Hope your knee feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteSome relaxation and quiet after the big move sounds great! Hope the knee feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteI will do almost anything for food, except run lol. I need to go read about your new house. Hope you are relaxing after such an intense move, and hope your knee gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteI basically don't want to do anything after I move. We just moved this weekend, and the second bedroom is still filled with boxes, and I'm like, whatever. They'll get done eventually. lol. We didn't have all that remodeling work y'all did though!
ReplyDeleteAs you remodel, you'll learn that you do absolutely nothing else. My life has changed dramatically in the last few years. It's a source of pride though!
ReplyDeleteGo you! I'm sorry it got delayed though, that's so crummy!! My fav part of ANY race (not that I've run that many, lol!) is all the food at the end!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope your knee heals quickly!!
ReplyDeleteYay house! Good on you for running the race despite delays etc, and you definitely deserved all the food afterwards! I'm the sort of person to injure myself doing nothing too, so I feel you on that one. Good luck with continued house reno! And so exciting that you'll be here soon!
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks about your race being delayed, especially by that much! Brutal! All that waiting would be frustrating. Yay for free food afterwards though ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of you with all the goodies after the race! So glad you were able to run with your friend, I can only imagine how annoying it would be for the race to be delayed, anddd at least you fell the day after the race and not before?? haha. Hoping your knee recovers quickly!
ReplyDeleteOuch about your knee!!! I'm glad I'm not the only ridiculously clumsy one!
