What's New With You - October Recap!

Time for another What's New With You link up with Gretch & I! No real rules, all we ask is that you link back to us somewhere in your post - easy peasy. I'll be doing another monthly recap, since that's how I roll. So let's get to October - a pretty busy month!

What's New With You

Oy with the poodles it was a busy month!

It started off with a wedding for one of KC's ex co-workers, it started pretty early but was a ton of fun. Unfortunately I started to feel a bit ill towards the end and had to leave abruptly, but other than that we had a great time as shown below:

As I mentioned earlier this week, we sold our house! But first, we did a bunch of stuff including painting, fixing things and buying things. Summed up like that it doesn't seem like a lot but we worked our butts off for a couple of weeks!

The house was constantly a mess, we were tired and ate out way too much, we would box things up and forget that we would need them, we got paint on basically everything (including the cats which was SO FUN), found things we forgot about (hey first american phone), bought SO much stuff and spent all the money... And I think that is about it.

We also got rid of a lot of crap, the photos below are just clothes. We threw out old crap, left furniture on the curb.. Decluttered like crazy and it was amazing.

We bought a new bed! We bought a ton of new things for the house, like a new fridge, microwave, mantel etc, but the bed was purely for us. It is none of the options I mentioned a few weeks ago, we realised the upholstered look would be scratched unintentionally by the cats (they don't do it on purpose, that's just life with claws) and we absolutely wanted zero space for them to get under. So we bought a storage bed, but we won't get it delivered until we are in our new house. The cats are gonna love it though (talk about a crazy cat family, who buys a bed based on how much their cats will love it?).

This is what it will look like:

I ran a half marathon..

Then on that same day, we rented a budget truck and moved pretty much half of our belongings into my mother in law's basement. Guess how much fun moving is after a half marathon? SO MUCH FUN.

This is my face on the way back home after all the moving:

Clearly I was a bit loopy. We had a deadline because of a housewarming party we had to get to, which we were late to anyway, but I'm really glad we had a reason to hustle and also a reason to stop! I didn't take any pictures of the housewarming, but it's my bestie's new house and it is amazing and gorgeous. It was a ton of fun, we mostly sat around the fire. KC and I both crashed as soon as we got home.

The next day, we got up early and started decluttering properly, then we moved the cats into my mother in law's basement (guess how much they loved that! the drive! the carriers! the new surroundings! the fact that we were gone for hours!)  and went back to the house and cleaned like crazy people. Our realtor was coming over at 4pm to complete paperwork and take photos, so again we had a deadline and reason to hustle.  But at the end of the day, our house was listed!

Well, technically it didn't list till the next day as that was a Sunday, but details. The day after it went live, we had 5 showings and an offer by 5pm.

The photo on the left is after we cleaned everything and signed the paperwork, and the photo on the right is after we accepted the offer!

Random snaps from the month include food (yes, one night I had baileys for dinner, it was a bad day) and of course lots of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (I finished it for the 3rd time and want to start it again I am having withdrawals what is wrong with me I don't even know).

A couple of workout snaps.. I have been working out super consistently, just haven't felt the need to document it as much.

And of course, my favourite snaps every month:

Actually, the below are probably my favourite photos from this month. Chelsea hanging out with me, which she never does, and me reading (probably the only time I picked up a book this month hashtag Miss Fisher for life now) and KC making a stupid face because I take too many photos. Real life right there.

The last week of October was pretty busy as well - went to dinner with the girls to celebrate my bestie's birthday and also because we needed some cocktails. No photos though.

We didn't do anything for Halloween except hand out candy. It was the perfect end to the month, and to be honest I'm knackered and want to do nothing for like, 3 months. I also need to detox because of all the crap I ate in October. Guess what is not a good month for detoxing/trying to be healthy? November. So. This should be fun.

If you'd like to link up with us, please do so below!

So what's new with you?

  1. Wow, I feel exhausted just reading about your October! I wouldn't blame you if you just hibernate from now until Christmas!

  2. I'm with Bev--good grief! I thought I had a busy October, but you DEFINITELY win that! Congrats on everything though! You were, busy, but everything in a very good way, it appears.

  3. Holy moly, lady! That's a busy month! Congratulations on selling your house and accomplishing so much though - that's amazing! My goal for November is totally to declutter and sell some serious ish. :D

  4. What a busy and awesome month, friend!! Your hair is getting so long and looks incredible in those wedding photobooth pics! Congratulations again on the house sale & your half-marathon. You're a baller.
OY WITH THE POODLES ALREADY! GG IS ALMOST HERE!

  5. Congrats again on the sale! what a busy month but now you can breathe and relax and prep for the holidays.

  6. Wait wait wait - was that a Gilmore Girls reference at the beginning of your post?? Also, how in the world did you run a half marathon AND move AND go to a housewarming party all in the same day? Girl. I don't know how in the world you managed to do all of that!

  7. What a busy month!! I can't believe you did all of that after a half marathon -- I just wanted to eat cheeseburgers for the rest of the day! But congrats again on the house sale and the half! You're amazing!

  8. Personally I love the bed you chose more than the options that you had actually. It's really nice!
Congrats on the sale of your home. It's really cute!
You guys had a busy, busy month and accomplished a lot!

  9. Yeah. I'm tired just reading about it. As busy as I was in October - it was pretty much all fun stuff. So even if I was tired, I had things to look forward to. IDK that I could ever look forward to cleaning. EVER.

But seriously, moving is never a joke, so I'm sure it certainly was the worst after running your half.

The decluttering sounds amazing though - and that's REALLY something I NEED to work on for the rest of the year. I have so much stuff I clearly never use.

    Thanks for hosting. :)

  10. Not only have I been off the reading train, I've been off the blogging train. I read two books in October and wrote 3 posts. I'm so mad I didn't realize today was your link up. I need to get on it.

Anywho, what a crazy and exciting October. I'm still so excited for you guys! What a huge accomplishment. Also I love the snaps of your babies because my friends all make fun of me for how much I snap mAst thing, the amount of clothes yall got rid of is ine (I'd like to point out that no one makes fun of people who post snaps/pictures of their DOG all the time.) so I fully appreciate seeing the ones of yours! lol

  11. Dang what a month! I think you should just relax the entire month of November and chill...you've been doing so much lately! You're making me tired haha

    ReplyDelete
  12. Love that you bought the bed with cats in mind! Hopefully now that the house selling is finished you can find some time to relax this month!

    ReplyDelete
  13. You sure were busy! Reading about the day you did your half and moved has me seriously exhausted over here. I am so happy for you guys for having a quick sale on the house because I know you were worried about that. That is so awesome!!! Looks like you guys had fun at the wedding and housewarming and hopefully you will get some down time in November to relax!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Such a busy month! Congrats again on the house!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow you have been busy girl! You looked gorgeous at that wedding (as always!) and love your new bed! So much extra storage, I need that! And so smart you bought one your cats couldn't get under... my dog always goes under my bed and sits right in the middle. SO annoying!<3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  16. Congrats on selling your house! We did that 3 years ago and it was the best decision we ever made (well, we sold our house. Not yours). We decluttered and threw shit out and even though our new house is bigger, we really haven't filled it with more crap. IT'S LIKE WE LEARNED OUR LESSON.

What a great, busy month you had!

  17. Sounds like a good month to me. Busy + productive is better than busy + nothing coming of it. I am so happy for you guys!! I know I already said, spent like 10 min at lunch telling my KC about it and being like... oh, could we do it?! Would we want to?! HAHA Glad it was a good and productive month for you. Hope November is even better! :) XO - Alexandra

  18. Girl, you rocked life this month! I think you deserve that three-month break. :) I think I'm on episode 7 now of Miss Fisher's, and oh. em. gee. I'm so in love with it. Her and the inspector better get together, or I don't know what I'll do. Hope the kitties have adjusted to the new living arrangement!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Phew you were really busy girl! Glad y'all got all the house stuff done and squared away. The new bed frame looks so cool! Yay for decluttering, moving is the best time to get that done because honestly half the stuff people keep around mostly so they don't have to go through the process of decluttering.

    ReplyDelete
  20. OY WITH THE POODLES ALREADY you ran a half marathon and moved house in the same day?! You're an absolute head case. I can only imagine how satisfying all of the sorting out was, you achieved so much in a month!

Oh and thanks again for the Miss Fisher rec. Fully hooked now and just started the second season. Although real talk it took me a full season to realise her name is PHRYNE and not FRIDAY. Whaaaaat.

  21. Super exciting news about selling your house so quickly!
We totally bought our current bed because it would work better for our dog. :-) It's pretty low to the ground (+ no box spring) so easier for a little dachshund to get up and down.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I ate so much crap too this past month - I'm ready to get rid of all the Halloween candy in my house. & we get no trick or treaters so I dont know what I was thinking buying a bag!
That picture of the cat in the middle with the fridges at Lowe's next to it - it looked like the cat was in the store - I had to do a double take :)
Love the bed! All that extra storage is super nice!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I still cannot get over how quickly you sold your house! That is just all so awesome! October sounds like it was a crazy month for you guys! Good for you for sticking to your gym routine even when things got so busy!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Congrats on selling your house! I am astounded that you moved after running a half marathon. I have sat on my couch for 4 hours after every single long run for the last 5 weeks and then cried about having to take out my dog.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sounds like an amazingly crazy month with great outcomes! So excited for you guys! Also, we just bought a new bed and were also concerned as to whether the cats would like it. Spoiler alert, they do! I think they enjoy sleeping on it more than we do and we could spend forever in it! I really love the storage under the bed. Makes me sad we didn't get something like that.

  26. Moving is such a pain but the de-cluttering part is awesome. I can be such a pack rat or procrastinator. I just shove stuff somewhere so I don't have to deal with it. Very grown-up of me, I know. :) But moving forces you to deal with all that crap. It's so awesome that you were able to sell your home so quickly and get the price you wanted too! Woo-hoo! And I'm so bummed because I don't have Netflix and cannot watch Miss Fisher. Boo-hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Y'all seriously worked your butts off this past month! I can't believe all of the work y'all did on the house, but it obviously paid off! Fingers crossed that everything goes through and then y'all can start looking for a new house! Hopefully the last couple of months of the year are less busy for y'all so you can relax some!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm super behind on reading - I thought y'all were just renovating because you wanted to - congrats on selling your place! I can't believe you ran a half marathon and then moved - you must be superwoman!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hot damn, your post made me tired. I mean, now I feel slightly motivated- but mostly tired. Haha. And I need to get on Miss Fisher because it sounds awesome and I need some fall/winter-transition entertainment in my life :D

    ReplyDelete
  30. Neat bed! And I'm pretty much worn out just reading about your month. Bet the cats LOVED all the moving boxes though, right? Cats and boxes ... love. :) You have definitely motivated me to start tossing unneeded/unused junk in our house. If you can detox successfully in November, you can rule the world. Hands down. Good luck though! ;) You've earned some rest (and some Bailey's-only evenings) with all that you've accomplished last month.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow what a great month! So happy for you guys selling your house! I can't imagine running a half marathon and then moving in the same day... That sounds totally brutal lol. I really need to check out your addictive show!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh my goodness, I'm exhausted from just reading this, hahaha!! You guys were insanely busy last month! But what a relief to have it all done, especially before Christmas and your trip (when are you planning your trip for again?) Congrats again on selling your house! Love the new bed - so clever to have storage built into it!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Those photobooth pictures are the best!

Congrats again about the house. So thrilled for you guys! Love the new bed.

OMG, I can't believe you moved after your race! And then you went to a party that night?! Girl you're my hero.

You had such a busy but huge month! Do me a favor and just...relax for a little while, okay? (After Richmond, of course ;))

    ReplyDelete
  34. You guys have been doing so much and doing it so well! I'm still so excited for you about your house! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  37. My healthy eating goes to hell October-January 2nd. UGH. There are so many treats and it's always such a busy time! You guys had a crazy month but how productive! Hoping things calm down a bit for you both.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Congratulations on selling your house! And I've always wanted a storage bed.. Extra space is so needed. Here's to better eating in November!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Whoa, you guys had quite the October as far as big life changes go!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like the bed. Wow, you got a lot done in a short amount of time!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow, I'm tired just reading about your month! I would say you have earned some down time for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah!!!!! Congratulations on your house that is so exciting!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. It's been quite a busy month for you!! I love love your new bed. You are gonna love all that storage. Congrats on selling your house. I'm so happy that you get to go home!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just reading about your half-marathon day makes me want to curl up and take a nap! Healthy eating between the months of October-December just don't really happen for me, which is especially terrible this year since I'm growing a human. At this point though, I'm just happy if I make one or two great food choices a day. (Water and a decent snack.)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Such an amazing month for you guys! CONGRATS again on selling your house and running a half marathon - amazing! And you have officially re-sparked my love of Bailey's, I need to pick up a bottle now that I can enjoy it again. Happy Friday gurlie <3

  46. I still can't believe how fast you got it all done! Was it hard to sell it to someone else after seeing how pretty it was with all the fixes? My month was nowhere near as crazy as yours, but I'm also glad October is over. No more social events, and no more party prep. :P How are the cats settling in now that you're done moving?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Such a busy and exiting month!! How much more do you have left to move? I hate moving and am dreading the day we have to do it lol ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. congrats on a busy and awesome month! I still can't believe you sold your house that quickly. That's just crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  49. An offer the day after your house was listed?! That is awesome! And totally sounds like the Sydney market as I know 90% of our friends who have listed their homes for sale recently have received huge offers before they ever went to market - and the ones who didn't waited until auction day because they knew the bidding would get competitive and they'd get more.

Jesse ALWAYS makes stupid faces at me because I take too many photos too! Oy vey!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sounds like you've had a BUSY BUSY month. But wow! So many huge moments! Remodeling the house, SELLING the house, running a half?!!? You're a rockstar! :) happy November, girl!

  55. we just bought our first house this year and the thought of selling a house completely overwhelms me. just looking at your photos gives me anxiety! congrats on a quick offer, very exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Such an awesome and exciting month! Baileys for dinner sounds bomb after a bad day!

    ReplyDelete
  57. You sold your house in one day? That's insane!! Congrats! And looks like you did more in one month than I've done in three haha. Here's to a calmer November? :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Omg how did you manage a half marathon, moving, and a party all in one day? I would need to sleep for 3 days after doing all of that! I've been slacking on the workouts and snapping lately. I need to get back on my workout plan so I don't feel so guilty eating all the things on Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Congrats on the move, lady! Looks like you had a really full month. Mine would include a lot of computer shots...but I'm okay with that. I'm so impressed with your half-marathon! I've been meaning to train for one but fear stops me every time. Also? Totally obsessed with your bed!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Um can you be my life coach? bc you are killing it in goals lately! dang!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Wow, haven't you been productive! I so pumped for what adventures lie ahead for you guys. And the cats! Who will obviously love the new bed.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Talk about a busy month! Phew! I'm exhausted for you, but also so happy that everything has worked out so great for you.

    ReplyDelete
  63. WOW you've had a crazy, busy month! Congrats on the house and your half-marathon (and everything else!) ha!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. What a crazy-busy month! Congrats on selling your house so quickly - that's awesome! Can't wait to see what the new space/place looks like!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Holy Cow----setting world records for selling your house time! That is amazing. And stressful. But more amazing.

And now I wonder what the actual record is for how fast a house was sold after being put on the market... #whocares #me

So much going on!!! This sounds like such a fun stage in your lives!

    ReplyDelete
  66. You had such a busy October! Love the wedding photo booth photos. I can't imagine moving the day after a half marathon! You are a super trooper! Has everything gone through with selling your house at this point? (I know there is a waiting period, but I don't know how long!)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I haven't caught up in awhile :/ I see you are moving!!!!! Congrats on new starts :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. As usual, late to the game.
That bed is very similar to mine. :)
    Photobooths are the best.
Also, I'm glad that someone else's schedule is just as busy as mine.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Whoaaa! So awesome that your house sold so quickly.
Purging stuff has been my favorite part of moving. We purged before we packed, but now that we're unpacking we're purging more. Haha!
