Friday Favourites

So happy it's Friday. It's just been one of those weeks. Can't wait to do a whole lotta nothing this weekend, but first - some favourites with Amanda.

This.

No further explanation needed.

Virginia Beach Public Library
And this.

Ran 9 miles with my bestie last Sunday, and I mean it wasn't all rainbows and happiness, but it's such a good feeling when you're done! As you can see, we pretty much collapsed at the end. Okay, not really, we just relaxed on the ground for like 20 minutes.

I am sad because she's out of town this Sunday and I'm not sure I'll be able to kick myself out the door on my own. Who can I be accountable to on snapchat or instagram? Someone tell me to go running on Sunday, k thanks.

And this.

Hate to be all me me me but this is my blog so........... Anyway. The scale went down you guys. Yesterday. Below a number that I haven't seen since July last year. I am *so* close to being under a number I haven't been (consistently) below since early 2015. I know the scale isn't everything and doesn't own me and blah dee blah blah blah, but I can't go by clothes considering I had to buy new clothes when the old ones stopped fitting, so yeah. I like to see the number go down, and I am proud.

But then, you get free ice cream at work and how am I supposed to say no? I tried, I really did. But then everyone else went and got some and peer pressure.

But can I make a complaint? I know I'm not the only one who hates this - that front one is supposed to be mint chocolate chip. That means minty ice cream with chocolate chips, NOT vanilla ice cream with minty chocolate chips. Drives me bonkers you guys, I want green ice cream.

And this.

This fish from Costco. Not sure I should admit that I buy fish in a box that's like ready to eat (well, after you cook it) but I like it better than plain fish that I have to do stuff to, so sue me. Now of course I threw out the box and don't remember the brand, but this stuff goes like hotcakes in my house and it's aaaahhhmazing. It's called tilapia.. and it's parmesan something or other, maybe garlic? So basically I am no help but it's really good, so if you guys go to Costco and like fish, check it out. It's in a box in the freezer section. I know, I'm helpful. It's just really good.

As for the potatoes and zucchini, I just tossed them in some italian seasoning and olive oil, chucked them in the oven for the same amount of time as the fish. They were so good.

And finally, this.

I still had access to ebooks using my library at home, but I obviously couldn't get real books. I wasn't able to join the library here without a state issued ID or birth certificate, so I just went without a library for a couple years. Occasionally I was able to snag a book on a friend or family member's account, but it wasn't a regular occurrence. Once I got my permit, I was finally able to join the library!

Sing it with me now, having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card!

As you can tell, I am ridiculously excited about this. Why? Because I love real books, and having access to only ebooks is kind of a bummer. I love my kindle for sure, but I like a good mix. Without the library, that means shopping and you all know I have an issue with that. So I am super excited because now I have access to so many books, and they told me my limit was 50! They probably shouldn't have done that....

Yep. Not even I can read that many books in the short time I have them. Unless I stop sleeping or working, then I could totally do it. Probably. Maybe.

I am so ready for the weekend you guys. We've had pretty relaxing weekends since we got back from the cruise, and I'm not gonna lie - I am not mad about it at all. So here's to another relaxing weekend, and working on that massive pile of books!

Tell me - what's your favourite flavour of ice cream? Mine is mint chocolate chip.

  1. 50 books?? Wow, libraries have changed since I last went to one! It used to be 8.

That first picture is amazing. I've seen the mugs with "I like big books and I cannot lie", but the whole thing there? That is genius!

Yay for smaller number on the scales! Mine's battery has run out so I have no idea where I am now. I haven't been that good recently though so I suspect it has NOT gone down.

My favourite ice cream flavour is rum 'n raisin.

  2. YES mint chocolate chip. The best. Also, love that book sign! ALSO, congrats on 9 miles AND having the scale go down. You are killing it! Happy Friday!

  3. Mint chocolate chip is my favourite too! But I agree, it has to be green! You are rocking it with your workouts and running, girl! So excited for you! That's also amazing about the library... You must be overjoyed :) PS I also super love that first picture haha

  5. Mint chocolate chip! I am so with you on the green mint ice cream standard - THAT is how it's done. Close second favorite is Chunky Monkey from Ben & Jerry's. Good luck with the books!

  6. I want mint ice cream--wahhh!! Green or no green, I will take either at this point. ;) Girl, all those books!! Woo hoo for nailing the 9 mile run! All the kudos to you.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I laughed SO hard when I saw all the book you borrowed! Hahaha! That's a pretty optimistic stack :D Hell yes to ice cream (even if it's not green) and hell yes to dropping numbers! That's awesome! Have a great weekend! (I LOVE that book-rap! Haha!)

    ReplyDelete
  8. I love fish in a box too. No shame. Also always take the free ice cream, especially if the scale is already down. HOLLER! You go girl.

I am still laughing at all of your library holds coming in. WTF! That has never happened to me, even though I only have a limit of 10. All the laughs.

  9. when i used to eat ice cream it was mint chocolate chip for sure! ugh i miss it. SO exciting about the weight loss girly! you gotta have those cheat moments or else you'll just go the other direction. so exciting. have a wonderful weekend! ps you've inspired me to start running again!

  10. Oh my the big books sign. Yes and love it! And good job with the number going down! Go you!!!

  11. mint chocolate chip is hands down MY FAVOURITE. as in this summer was the first time i had a cone of it since 2011 and i had a tiny orgasm when i licked it. that sounds dirty, haha.

also- BE PROUD OF YOUR WORKOUTS AND THE PAYOFF. you can shout to anyone you want because you've worked so hard and have been so awesome and badass. keep it up!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. 9 miles DEFINITELY deserves all the ice cream!!! Good for you! And we totally buy the tortilla crusted tilapia from Costco and eat it all the time (literally had it for dinner last night) - no shame, ha! Happy Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Mint chocolate chip with non-mint ice cream? Blasphemy! I would chuck that crap immediately. I also don't like mint ice cream that is not green. I know it is food coloring and I don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Your library picture is still the best thing I've seen in a long time! haha. I loved Out of the Easy & I think that's the only one I've read of the bunch. Every time someone mentions costco I get said we're not members-- the fish looks so good! You are rocking your workouts/runs- you look amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mint choc chip ice cream is supposed to be green! Definitely! And it's my favourite as well! 👍

Well done on the running - 9 miles?! 😳

    ReplyDelete
  16. The book picture had me laughing out loud over here. Good luck getting through all of those! They probably should have held your limit to like 25 rather than 50. Good luck getting out the door on Sunday morning. If you'll hold me accountable to running on Saturday morning, I'll hold you accountable to Sunday! :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card! That took me so far back, Arthur, what's up!?

Okay, you gotta run Sunday. I'm racing in the AM, a 10K road race at 730 + a 10K trail race at 930. So, 12.4 miles total. I'll hassle you on Instagram after the race, so pics, or it didn't happen. You know I'll be spamming everyone - double medal, yo.

Your fish + potatoes look delish. Red potatoes cooked up like that are my jam, a little crispy, a little soft, lots of herbs & buttery goodness. Yes.

  18. yep i could never say no to free ice cream! xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  19. I am completely obsessed with that massive pile of books. Looking at that just makes me want to erase all plans for the weekend and get started on it! Haha. When I first joined my library for the first couple of months as a "new member" you could only check out 3 books. WHY ONLY 3!?! Haha it was rough.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yay for being able to get a library card! You can always renew the books if you don't finish them on time. ;) I'm all about the renewals!

    Happy weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  21. As much as I love my Kindle, I love real books too! Yayyy for the scale going down, but yessss to all the free ice cream! Happy Friday gurlie <3

  22. All those books! You are out of control. :-) Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't ever have to do anything but read and read and read?
The mint-chocolate flavor combination is a major no-go for me. I blame it on being sick from peppermint schnapps hot chocolate once in college. I prefer THE MOST CHOCOLATELY ice cream ever. My last Cold Stone creation with Brownie Batter ice cream with Brownies and Fudge mixed in.

  23. I am so much in love with the baby got books plaque. Hilarious! And congrats on getting your library card. For a long time I was buy-only kind of gal but then I went back to the library. It's nice to have the balance because some books I really do want to own forever and ever and some books I enjoy but am happy to give back to the library afterwards. And super proud about the scale! That's awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am so happy for you getting your library card :) No one needs it more than you.
I spy the 2 books from Miss Perigrine - cant wait to see what you think. & I LOVED that jennifer Weiner book. You make me want to go get books now & stop doing the e-reader thing with my library. I just like doing that because I can pull it up on my computer & read at work while it looks like I'm doing real work ;) haha #likeaboss

  25. Mint choc chip all the way. But obviously with green ice cream, because otherwise where's the mint?! Of course the mint is the green and that's not just food colouring. Obviously.

I'm really impressed that you ran 9 miles and that the scales have gone down, amazing! Go you! It must be great to see all your hard work pay off. And I suggest you cancel your entire life for the next 30 days and read all those books! How good would that be!?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yay for library cards!!! 50 is a lot at one time...they do have to be returned by a certain time you know that right??? And I have some good news for you!!! It is scientific fact that free ice cream is free of calories. Girl, didn't you know??? I am so happy for you about the number though because no matter how many times we call that scale a bitch or whore...we all know she rules our damn lives.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree with you on the mint ice cream thing! It's not mint ice cream if it's not green! The fish looks delicious! Also, I too have a huge stack of library books from my library...if it's there I want to snag it before someone else does!

    ReplyDelete
  28. OMG that library book pile! You carried that all home with you? Impressed. And congrats on the weight loss!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Are all those books really at your house? That's commendable.

    Completely applicable to our lives:

I actuaaaalllllyyyy have my library application in my car. I'm going out after lunch to run some errands and that will be my final stop. As if the 2 books I am forcing myself to read before I start listening to Glass Crown are not enough. BTW, it's seriously killing me that I won't let myself listen to book 2. It's all I want. If I do housework this weekend or a solo run though, it will be game on.

I'm so jealous of 9 miles! I had at least 8 miles planned but with the bum toe, yesterday's 2.5 about slayed me. Dumbo Dare is 20 days away and I'm having a internal breakdown. I just need those medals and photos with characters!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. GIRL. I read that entire "baby got books" like the original song. HA! It was amazing. Your love for reading makes me so happy. I can't believe the library limit is 50. Like, WHO has time for that??! You're crazy, and I love it!!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah! I love the picture of your stack of books! That cracked me up! I bet you make a pretty serious dent in them before the time is up, though! And if your library is like mine then you can renew them for another 21 days (or month or whatever it is that your library does) online! I have to ask you, though... how did you carry that many books? Please tell me you had a rolling suitcase! And the Baby Got Books song... hilarious!

Also, good for you on the weight loss! That's awesome! I totally get what you mean about "it's just a number blah blah blah", but when your body feels better, it's so good! And especially because you've worked so hard for it. Proud of you!

Oh, and finally... 9 miles in one run?! Good gracious, you are going to smoke me tomorrow, haha!

  32. REAL mint chocolate chip FOR.THE.WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Um, what? I've never even heard of mint chocolate chip like that... weird!! My favorite ice cream flavor is at a local place here it's called "Birthday Bash" it has vanilla ice cream, with chocolate cake pieces, frosting (just a little), rainbow sprinkles. NOM. Um... but all of their flavors are so good. :) hehe Real books are great! hooray for the library! I legit laughed out loud and showed KC that book pic on IG last night. LOL That's amazing. I've banned myself from library browsing for a bit. Trying to read my own books.. LOL So exciting. I totally renew library books over and over by the way! :) That fish looks super good! :) I am hoping for a relaxing weekend too, tonight we have a GG night with friends. The best. :) XO - Alexandra

  34. That first picture is hilarious! I love it! Congrats on the weightloss - I need you to send some of that hard work over here. :) And YAYYY for finally getting a library card!!!!!!!!!!!!! I share in your joy of finally having one! So awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Holy crap that pile of books!!! How did you even get those home?! Umm I've never in all my days seen vanilla ice cream with mint flavored chocolate chips and if I ever did I would scream. That's the worst thing I've ever heard. So so wrong.

Also 9 miles holy shit. I BARELY made it one mile outside yesterday. Then tried to walk a little and run one more...and I didn't make it all the way through the second. Hashtag success.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love the Baby Got Books and all the books you got at the library! Mint chocolate chip with vanilla ice cream and mint chocolate chips is NOT OK! Haha. I am so super impressed with your nine miles! You are such a rockstar. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. 50 books!?!? Pretty sure my limit is like 8! I love seeing a big old stack of books.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ahh!! Loved this post!! First...congrats on the scale going down!! We all know it's just a number etc etc but yeah...when you work hard it's rewarding to see some MEASURABLE progress. Period. Second, the library's take on Baby Got Books...LOL!! Too funny. And finally...that mint chip ice cream is unacceptable and incorrect! My favorite flavors are Tillamook Mudslide and Ben & Jerry's Oatmeal Cookie...and Coffee Flavored Ice cream. But I eat ice cream less than once a year at this point because I don't like what it does to my body and my will power!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mint chocolate chip is my favorite as well but I am right there with you that it has to be green ice cream! It is not the same if it is vanilla with mint chocolate chips! Seriously what is wrong with ice cream companies? Also I see all these people all you wonderful bloggers out there running 9 miles and I'm like I can barely make it three… And I don't really run in fact if you see me running you should run as well because something is after me.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Um yeah, mint chocolate chip ice cream should be mint ice cream with chocolate chips! Everything else is just wrong! I think that I might have found a new favorite though that an ice cream place near us just started producing called cookie two step. It combines chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies and cream, and it's amazing! I was about to say that I can't believe that you got that many books from the library, but I totally can believe that you got that many books! We have a library near our office, and I totally need to get better about utilizing it! Books can get expensive! Enjoy your weekend!

  41. I just sung "I like big books an I cannot lie" all by myself, haha! Have fun reading ;)

  42. YAY for the scale moving, proud of youuuuu! And the 9 miles! And all the books! You are a bookstar!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Loved this post. Not exactly sure why except it's just you being you and you're freaking adorable! Nine miles - YES you did! High five! And I think mint chips is a rip off. But did you stop eating it - that's the real question. Girl, I am so excited for you to get to a weight that is lower - not because I care or think you need to lose weight - but because as a woman, I get it! And it feels freaking amazing. Go girl! And your book photo is the BEST and so you! I highly recommend Clan of the Cave Bear - I LOVED those books!

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Birthmarked trilogy was GOOD! Scott and I both loved it.
Remember Me? is also one of my very favorites!

It's amazing how many people waste the opportunity and don't get a library card. Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I totally sang the song too... Like read the entire thing and sang. haha

I just want to know how you schlepped all those books out of the library. Im SOOOO curious! Have a great weekend doll!

    ReplyDelete
  46. YAY for your library card! And it's totally understandable...everyone needs to check out ALL of the books when they get a new card.

    ReplyDelete
  47. NINE MILES? That's impressive! Go you!!

And I've totally had the tilapia out of a bag from the freezer section. No judgement here ;)

    Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Vanilla ice cream with minty choc chips?! Nuh uh... that's got to be some sort of crime. That's what a wussy person would choose when they don't really like mint because it's mint-ish :P

Your library haul totally made me laugh out loud because that is SO me... only my library limit is 10 so I had to register Jesse so I could get 20 :P

  49. That's awesome that you're meeting your goals with weight loss! Hey - it's a win! And also happy you were able to join the library! It's crazy the rules they have... Hope you have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree mint chocolate chip ice cream should be green, but you can't say no to free ice cream. That bookcase is awesome, and hooray for library books!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Library card!!!! You will be busy! Liam loves the library so we are there often!

    ReplyDelete
  52. The books poem at the library (I'm assuming?) is amazing. That's what dreams are made of. I'm with on wanting green ice cream when it says mint, and hello yummy Costco fish! I know exactly what you're talking about and always have wanted to try it. Now I'm going to next time we make a trip.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Your library photo made me crack up. You're so funny! I hope you get to enjoy at least half those books in the time you have them ;)
You KICKED BUTT on those 9 miles, and your 10 I saw on Snap this Sunday. GO YOU! You're totally putting me to shame these days—thanks for the motivation ;) And you know I too believe the scale is nothing to get hung up on (I don't even know what I weigh, haven't a clue) BUT if it's a tool that helps you achieve your health and fitness goals, I'm proud of you for hitting a goal you've set. I know you're doing it with hard work and good choices, so that's something to celebrate!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow, you meant business when you went in to the library! I enjoy going to our local library although it's been a few months since I've been in. Congrats on the weight loss.

    ReplyDelete
  55. My favorite ice cream varies, but mint chocolate chip is one of them (the green kind, of course.)
I am SO excited for you and your library card! Now, I know that you are going to have so much fun searching for books and putting them on hold and waiting for them to come in :) I can't wait to see how many of these you actually get through.
Congrats you on the progress and hard work you've put into an exercise routine.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I personally love mint chocolate chip too! Now that you have your library card you should check out OverDrive. You can rent, through your library, digital books and audio books too. You can download them to your kindle or phone for FREE! It's really amazing! Love the blog!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mint chocolate chip is hands down my favourite ice cream too! I have a hard time ordering any other flavour when given the option. I actually just love mint chocolate anything. Yay on getting a library card! I can't believe how hard they make it for you to get one?? You'd think a bill with your address would be enough. You should have made KC get one a long time ago!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I wondered how the hell you checked out that many books! Lol! I've never heard of vanilla ice cream with mint flavored chocolate chips. That is indeed strange! The other day the ice cream shop had thin mint ice cream. It was mint (green) ice cream with chunks of girl scout thin mint cookies. Delish. I have way too many favorite flavors.... just depends on what mood I'm in. Ha! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. 1 - That sign is amazing! I've never seen the full song like that! And 2 - OMG 50 books?! That must be heaven for you, haha. I can't even imagine checking all those out, but then again I've still been slacking on reading lately :(
