What's New With You - June Recap

This year is going by so fast!

Time for another link up with Gretch and I! We hope you will link up with us and let us know what's going on in your world. All that we ask is that you link back to us somewhere in your post. As for me, I'll be doing another monthly recap - June is one of my favourite months for several reasons, but this past June was a bit odd. Lows and highs, and I was glad to see it go. Anyway, shall we?

What's New With You

June brings amazing weather and I always say I love summer, but spend zero time outside. I wanted to make an effort to spend more time outside this year, so I dragged a blanket and pillow out on to our deck - we don't have nice comfy outdoor furniture (yet). I always say my neighbours are kind of trashy, and I'm the one having a slumber party outside. Nice.

Another friend joined my bestie and I on one of our weekly Sunday morning run. Oh, and a dog too, but he joins us a lot.

After that KC and I headed downtown - we don't go downtown often because.. we just don't. We walked around waterfront park (with my birthday twin Abe) and the big four bridge (just a pedestrian bridge, you can walk from KY to IN) which was a nice day.

The following week we were on our way to my friend's pool to hang out with them. I was super excited!

^ look how happy and naive I was.

and then this happened:

Let me tell you, that hurt. A lot. But, like I've said a million times.... we both walked away with nothing more than a few bruises and a sore shoulder or two. Other than that, we are totally fine and that is what matters. The car is already fixed, the other guy was not licensed, registered, insured, nothing. So that was fun.

Needless to say, we went home and wallowed in our sorrows rather than hanging out at my friends pool. Although, KC went to a soccer game that night and I decided I didn't want to be home alone, so I went to the movies to see Me Before You, on my own. It was good, though I didn't cry as much as I expected. It wasn't bad, but naturally the book was better.

^ milk duds make everything better.

Then of course, we went on our cruise, which was great. I will be recapping the whole cruise one day, maybe, when I get my shit together. Ha. Jk. Next week.

Other than that, June was pretty quiet. Lots of books, cats, food, workouts, etc.

^ creepy cats are creepy.

Also, wanted to document 2 things that never happen. Millie on a human of her own free will (she lasted .2 seconds) and Millie and Penny within like a metre of each other but not trying to kill each other. Baby steps people, baby steps.

And with that, June is done. I pretty much take the same photos every month, but I don't mind. It's fun for me to look back on.

Now, you're turn! What is new with you? Link up below, just be sure to link back to us somewhere in your post.

  1. I am so far behind on commenting on posts that it's not even funny, but I'm joining the link-up (as always) and definitely wanted to make sure I commented on this one!

I know you said everything was okay with you guys/the car, but wow. That picture makes it look pretty damn scary! :-( I feel like we've talked about this a little bit, but few things are worse than accidents/car trouble ... It just makes you feel so helpless. I'm sorry that put a damper on June, but at least you were able to get away and enjoy yourselves.

I spent more time outside in the spring than normal, but it's just way too hot right now. You're lucky that you're still able to enjoy nice weather! We're going to an outdoor concert Friday night, and I'm worried we'll be miserably sweating our asses off the whole time. I think it's only supposed to be in the upper 80s, but that's still really hot (for me, anyway).

I love the pictures (minus the sad car picture, of course), especially the ones from your cruise. I'm looking forward to the full recap! :-) And, hey, don't feel bad that you haven't posted it yet. I still have two posts I was planning to write about our New Mexico trip from last November. I haven't even started them (unless you count thinking about what I might want to say and what pictures I might want to share, but I don't) ... No actual words have been written. I still want to write them, but vacation recap posts seem to take so much time and effort. Maybe I'll get them up soon. Maybe.

  2. I'm so glad everything is settled with your accident. That's so scary. I'm glad you're both OK! Can't wait for your cruise recaps, of course. That waterfront park looks so pretty! Love all the cat photos at the end of this post! Haha.

  3. Uhmmmmmmmm....how did I miss the car accident? I remember you saying something about picking up your car, it being ready, then not being ready, then actually being ready...but I didn't know it was because of THIS. Holy smokes!
Kitty photos always make me smile.
I've been meaning to go on a solo movie date for Me Before You, but I haven't. sigh.

  4. OMG, that picture is scary! I'm so glad you're both okay! I'm ridiculously behind with blog reading so I totally missed that you were in an accident.

  5. Sounds like most of June was pretty much awesome--other than the car accident!! So scary! Glad you guys were okay--I've never been in a multi-car accident (though once when my husband was driving we slid slowly off the road due to black ice...that was no fun) but I know even if it all turns out 'okay' it will leave you very shaken up.

  6. Eeek, didn't realize you were in a crash - glad you're both ok!!! Ahaha, I hear you about loving summer and then being inside all day! I am definitely making the effort to use the pool more since it's scorching hot out!

  7. ugh car accidents are the worst. i got rear-ended earlier this year and the guy was so apologetic that i started to apologize as well because i felt so bad for him!! that's how canadians do accidents - it becomes a battle of who's more sorry LOL.

we have a great deck but i never spend it outside! i should have gotten my husband to open up the big umbrella so i could sit outside and read but we're having a heat wave so yeah...i'll stay in my air conditioned home, thanks.

  8. What a month! All good things minus that nasty accident. The nerve of some people! And yes recap the cruise! I know what you packed for it but that's all! Thanks for hosting! Happy Thursday!

  9. That accident looks scary! I'm glad all is well with y'all and keep the cat photos coming! Jess at Just Jess

  10. I am the 26th person to link up but only the 10th comment. Mind your manners people! Say hello to your hostess. LOL, that annoys me. Sorry.

Accidents are a total PITA no matter what, but when they have no license/insurance? It's like an additional wound.

I love your thumbs up workout snap and the pic where one of the cats is sitting on top of the house.

  11. Oh my gosh, that accident looks like it could've been way worse!! I'm glad you guys were able to walk away. I know your brain messes with you looong after an accident, though. Hope you're starting to feel better!
I love that you went to the movies alone! I keep meaning to do that. Can't wait to read about the cruise! Love all the kitty pics!

  12. omg omg omg... All the images were so happy and pretty and then the car came up and I literally went back into my chair. Ouch. I am so happy you guys are safe and nothing worse happened.

In other news your June seemed quite busy filled with lots of adventure. Looking forward to your cruise update. :)

  13. Seems like a pretty good month minus the car accident! :) Glad everything is more or less ok now! :) I really like your little black and white cat. It has a tiny mustache. hehe I don't know how many pictures I've seen of him/her? Yay for reading more. June was a busy month for us. Not a lot of time at home. Hoping July and August are more laid back for sure. :) XO - Alexandra

  14. I'm so glad that you're ok!! I still need to see Me Before You. I rarely see movies in the theater & I don't think that'll be the one I go to though, just because I usually wind up ragey & judgey at books that turn into movies. When it's in Redbox for sure though!

    ReplyDelete
  15. You would not believe how many accidents the BF deals with where the person has no insurance, usually also no license & often on top of that a poor grasp of the English language. Some of whom are American born & just suck.

Glad you didn't let your lack of patio furniture keep you from going outside. Reading on the porch in the summer is one of my favorite things.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am super upset that I missed the link up this month but I will join back in for July! Your Snaps with the kittys are my fave for two reasons. One, cats. Two, they make me feel like it is normal to be a crazy cat lady and know that I am not alone. That sucks about your accident! What a jerk. Did he get arrested or anything? I hope so. Cant wait to hear all about the cruise!

  17. I didnt even know you were in a car accident. DANG man... those are going around lately I guess... sigh. Glad you were OK.
Love your bathing suit cover though
Looks like a lot of outside time ... with books! :) The best way to do outside time

  18. Yessss, Milk Duds! My favorite movie theater snack too. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I always love all your cat pictures!!! They are so cute and FLUFFY!!!! OMG your car wreck! Ok rant here.. why are all the people who bang into other cars always uninsured and unlicensed??? Maybe that's too general of a statement but I've been hit once, my Mom once, my husband once.. all those uninsured people. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh my goodness, what a MONTH. I'm so glad you are ok and everything is fixed post accident, although you never need to go through that in the first place!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ahh so glad you're okay! Car accidents are so scary. And I'm jealous.. all I want in life right now is a deck. And a dog:) Can't wait to read more about your cruise!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ugh. Car accidents are the worst. So glad you and KC are okay though. You know I love the cat pictures. Max loves boxes too. I found a perfect Max-sized box in the recycling room in my apartment and gave it to him. He loves that thing more than anything, except me. He loves me more. I think. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Looking forward to reading more about your cruise!

PS I so enjoy your cat pictures. I love cats but am allergic. I get to live vicariously through your cat pics!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bummer about your car! and gosh, of course totally uninsured, etc. Grrrr. But, like you said, at least you're okay! The creepy cat picture is entirely awesome, ha! Cats are so funny. I'm excited to hear about your cruise!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love your weekly Sunday runs. My life is in such a chaotic place right now with teaching all over creation so often, trying to get some trips in, and the whole new dating thing that I cannot stick to a ritual to save my life right now—but I'm craving ritual so bad!
So sorry about your car accident! Of course very happy to hear you're okay and no major damage or injuries resulted, but that's just not a fun scenario at all.
Cruise looks like so much fun. Glad you guys went and had a great time!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can't wait to hear all about your cruise! I was so jealous of you with all of your cocktail and reading by the pool snaps! And that sucks so much about your accident and the fact that the guy didn't have any insurance or anything! Hopefully it's not going to be too much of a pain to deal with!

    ReplyDelete
  27. NO! Car wrecks are the worst, but the utter worst when you have to do everything yourself because someone was driving around with no insurance.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You kind of make me want a cat . . . except I think my dog would eat it! Can't wait to hear about the cruise! Glad the car is fixed and all is well again . . . sucks you had to deal but as Kanye says, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" Because obviously Kanye always gives good advice! Or not! And outdoor reading rocks . . . I love to sit on my deck and read a good book or scroll social media . . . I never take my laptop out there - maybe I should get on board with that!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I feel like being on your way somewhere fun and being so happy makes the accident even worse! Ugh. At this point I'm tempted to see Me Before You by myself too. Michael was like, "That's a Redboxer" and I'm like...umm, maybe to you. He only wants to see movies with fancy effects in theaters, or so he says... (He wanted to see Zootopia in theaters so I call bullshit. Ha!)

  30. What an up and down month - Glad you guys were okay after your accident!

Loved following along with your cruise on Snapchat - can't wait to read all about it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Your cats are amazing. Just LOVE them. So glad you are ok from that accident - so scary! Hope you get to spend more time outside this month!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh darn I should have linked up! I loved all your snaps from your cruise! So fun and beautiful! I also love all the kitty pics. They're so cute and fluffy! So sorry to hear about your car! That's crazy the other person wasn't insured or anything! Like you said, at least everyone was okay!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm excited to read more about your cruise! I love cruising and I don't get to do one this year so I need to live vicariously through you :P I had the same thoughts on Me Before You, the movie wasn't bad but the book was definitely better.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Um, what an eventful month! Thank goodness that you are ok, number one. Number 2. Rude.
In a happy vein, I love your pool cover up, and I know what you mean about wishing you spent more time outside during summer, even though we live for it! Part of my problem is the damn computer and it being an indoor animal. It should stop keeping me in!

    ReplyDelete
  35. So glad you're ok, that dent looks pretty serious. What a miracle you weren't seriously hurt! Really looking forward to hearing about the cruise (and all your cruisin tips) and keep those cat pics coming! They just don't get old!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yikes! Sucks about your car, but I'm glad you guys were ok!! Still scary though. And annoying having to deal with that kind of driver, I imagine. You're brave to go to Me Before You on your own! And I say that because I fully anticipate doing the ugly cry when I see (tomorrow actually!) and that's just embarrassing if I'm all by myself haha!! Also, that blue & white dress/pool cover up is super cute!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yay - the Big 4 Bridge! I'm there nearly daily (M-F) to burn off midday work stress. It combines outdoor exercise with people-watching. I'm a Milk-Dud fanatic too -- I think they're the only thing I get for movies. Big-time bummer about your car but glad it all worked out! I'd do a link-up but I'm pretty clueless still. Also, I'm totally unorganized and still thinking it's May, so there you go.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh LAWD your car! I am glad to hear you are okay but damn that is scary looking. I am catching up on my blog reading so I'm glad for this roundup of life for you ;)

  39. Looks like a really good summer so far! So sorry about your car accident! That's scary, but I'm glad everyone was OK. Love the photos of the cats.

  40. You make me want to take myself to the movies. I took myself to see Ant Man a while back and accidentally walked into The Gallows for five minutes before I figured out what was happening. I feel like I need a redo. That is so terrible about your car. I'm glad you got it fixed and you guys are okay. My cats hardly ever actually sit ON me.. they're more side cuddlers.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm glad you were ok and that the accident is behind you!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Glad you guys are okay! That sounds like quite the accident.
    Love your cat pictures :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Um, first of all THANK GOODNESS you weren't in Australia when that accident happened! I saw the photo and wondered how you managed to get out without injury - but then I realised you would have been on the other side of the car!

I can't wait to hear all about your cruise!

  44. Nooooooooo to the car accident! That is always stressful but I am so glad you were ok! Loving the collage of all your kitty pictures and I cant wait to hear about the cruise!

  46. I am very glad that you both walked away OK from the accident. It could've been much worse than even though it sucks I'm really glad that you guys are OK. I'm glad you had a good time on your cruise I know I love seeing your Instagram photos of it!

  47. Oh my gosh, I'm so glad to hear you're okay from that accident!
Your cat pictures always make me so happy! :)

  48. Uhh car accidents are the worst, I'm glad everything turned out okay! Our car looked exactly like yours when we got in an accident in the spring, which was not fun at all. You guys deserved a nice and relaxing cruise though, and it looked like you had a blast :) I always like seeing all of your cat pics haha.

    ReplyDelete
  49. So many summer type things, I feel jealous. I keep telling myself to go do something but it's 98458307 degrees outside. I swear my eyeballs were sweating the other day even though K says it's not possible.

Ugh for car accidents, it's good that you weren't hurt and the car is already fixed though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Car accidents are no fun! Especially when the other person isn't licensed/registered/insured. Gross. People these days... but at least you got to go on your cruise this month! Can't wait to read about that when you recap it :)

  51. I'm so glad you guys are okay - I know that it was a bit ago but still so scary!! I still haven't seen that movie - at this point I think i'll just be waiting for it to come to itunes!! Hope you have a great weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  52. I am so glad you guys are ok!!! That would hurt me too, but I love that you realize the value of you two being ok! Still super scary though!!

  53. There is nothing worse than an accident to ruin your day, am I right??? Glad you guys were ok though. I know your body can be sore for days/weeks following. Sounds like you guys had a great month! Walking around downtown sounded like fun! And who doesn't love all the kitty pictures. Sorry I couldn't get my life together to link up this month but I promise I will be back to it for August!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh wow, I'm so glad you guys were both able to walk away from that accident okay! That looks like a pretty serious hit! Other than that, though, I'm glad you had so much fun this month! Going through my phone is like pictures of my dog and food so I totally understand the whole taking-the-same-sort-of-photos-all-the-time thing. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ahh, I'm so sorry about the accident you were in! What a huge bummer. So glad you're okay, though! Accidents are so scary. Other than that, it seems your June was pretty nice! Your cats are sooo cute!

    ReplyDelete
  56. love your swim cover up!! and so sorry to hear about your car. grrrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm still so sorry about your accident, but am so glad you're okay! I can't imagine how scary that was, but I'm glad you guys have your car back. Not important, but your coverup/dress is super cute:) I love that you didn't think Me Before You was terribly sad-- I'm guessing it helps knowing what happens? I still think it will take me a little while to see it. Being on vacation was so nice because we were outside all the time & it really does make things so much better and a spot outside to read sounds perfect! Does your garmin track your heart rate or just distance?

    ReplyDelete
  58. omg how did miss your accident?? OMG!! So thankful you are okay. Hugs all around. I still want to see that movie--and read the book first of course!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I've told you this a million times already, but I'm so, so thankful that you and KC are okay from the car accident. I hope that July has been better to you in that department. :) Always love seeing the photos of the kitties and what you're reading lately!

    ReplyDelete
  60. So sad still about the car accident. So glad you are both safe and sound but still such a frustrating situation :(
I really want to see Me Before You but I think I'll wait to watch it at home because I'm sure I will cry quite a bit. haha. You are looking so fit and happy. Way to go girl!!! PS cute kitties :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Loving all your outdoor time, and of course that the doggy joins you girls on your weekly runs! I knew about the accident, but hadn't seen pics. So so so glad you guys are safe and had a fantastic trip to look forward to right after. Looking forward to your cruise recap :-D

    2) I'm so sorry about your car/accident. Glad to hear you're both okay though!
    3) Hooray for cruises! I've still never gone. Maybe next year...
    4) I adore all these pictures of the kitties. Yours are long haired. How do you deal with them shedding? Mine are shorthaired and I feel like I live inside a hairball! Give me all your tips and tricks!!!
