^ I get such a kick out of how different those two photos are.

and what a fun 3 years it's been.

I've been searching a long time, for someone exactly like you
I've been travelling all around the world.. waiting for you to come through.
Someone like you makes it all worth while
Someone like you keeps me satisfied, s
omeone exactly like you.

I've been travelling a hard road, looking for someone exactly like you
I've been carrying my heavy load.. waiting for the light to come shining through.
Someone like you makes it all worth while
Someone like you makes me satisfied, s
omeone exactly like you.

I've been doing some soul searching, to find out where you're at
I've been up and down the highway.. in all kinds of foreign lands
Someone like you makes it all worthwhile..

Someone like you keeps me satisfied, someone exactly like you..

I've been all around the world, marching to the beat of a different drum.
But just lately I have realised, baby the best is yet to come.

Someone like you.. Make it all worthwhile. Someone exactly like you.. Keeps me satisfied.. Someone exactly like you, someone exactly like you, someone exactly like you..

The best is yet to come. Oh, the best is yet to come.

Meanwhile, who knew we took a photo every single month? I didn't say they were good photos.

I know 3 years is such an itty bitty time in the grand scheme of things. I love celebrating any anniversaries; when we met, when we got back together etc etc. I only like celebrating them in theory though, I like to smile and fist bump KC and say go us! We don't do gifts, we don't do fancy dinners. We do something like netflix (with subtitles!) and chinese food.  That's okay with me though. That's us, and it works.

If you are married - what was your wedding song? Or 'first dance' song, I guess.

  4. Happy anniversary!!! You two are so cute together :) Looks like a wonderful three years to me! You know Chris and I had a wedding with just the two of us, our officiant and a photographer so we didn't really have a wedding song. Netflixing and eating yummy foods is our favorite thing to do haha.

  5. Happy anniversary! So impressed that you took a photo every month. I struggled to find one for every year haha! I fully believe in celebrating...well basically everything...and three years is a long time! Look at all the memories you've filled that time with. I hope you have the best Chinese and Netflix celebration there ever was!

  7. Wait wait wait... your anniversary is today? Today's an awesome day for a celebration :) Happy Anniversary! We don't officially have a first dance song yet but we've picked out With This Ring by The Platters for ours.

  8. Happy Anniversary! I love the photos you chose and that gym shot cracks me up! :P Anniversaries are fun for sure, we don't often do something for ours. Though I guess once we did travel but it was afterward. Either way it was still a "normal" trip for us. We like to keep it pretty relaxed. :) Our wedding song was from this CD I had as a kid called, "Disney Pop Hits" (great start right?) and it's "So This is Love" from Cinderella but it's a super jazzy '90's version. Sounds ridiculous but it was great. We love way too much "good" music to choose, so we went with that. :) Hope you had a great day, wishing you many more happy years ahead! XO - Alexandra

  12. This is the cutest thing ever! Happy anniversary! 3 years is a heck of a long time and staying married is a major achievement as far as I'm concerned, so you should definitely celebrate! Love the photo trip down memory lane, you've got some great shots, especially the cruising/sweating ones!

We danced to Drops of Jupiter by Train, because we are 90s kids. We went to see them about 18 months later and it was pretty cool to dance to our wedding song live :)

  13. Happy anniversary!!!

Our first dance song is Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel. I walked down the aisle to Into the Mystic by Van Morrison and we walked down together after to Two of Us, the Michael Penn & Aimee Mann version.

  15. happy happy anniversary! you guys take the best photos together and I love all of the different memories you have captured-- which is kind of why selfies are awesome because the small things (that end up being big things sometimes) are still captured. our song was on a night like this by dave barnes.

  16. Happy anniversary to you two! I love all these pictures - you guys always live life and your marriage to the fullest and have so much fun. Our wedding song was Marry Me by Train but the duet version with Martina McBride. We had a horrible time picking a song because we have so many!

  17. Happy Anniversary! I get a kick out of wedding anniversaries and how some people make a big deal over them -- "Yay for you - you haven't killed each other yet!"

We do pretty much the same as you - dinner out (if we aren't busy with work or school stuff for the kids) and Netflix (with subtitles too!) a movie or few episodes. It'll be 18 years next month and yay us - we haven't killed each other yet! :)

And no song, no dance. Reception was held in my church so no dancing allowed there back then. I'm such an introvert that I would have died if I had to dance in front of all those people. It was bad enough that I had to stand up in front of them all and say my vows!

  18. 3 years is wonderful! We just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary! Our first song was Never Stop by Safety Suit! It's a must listen to song! So beautiful!!! Congratulations!! Xo

  19. Happy anniversary you guys! It's so sweet that you've taken a photo together every month, it's such a good idea looking back. I might have to start doing that haha. It looks like you've had so much fun in the past 3 years and knowing you there will be so many exciting trips in the future! Our wedding song was The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra, because we are old and boring haha.

  21. Happy Anniversary!!!

I love celebrating our little anniversaries. And by celebrate, I mean sending a text that says "Happy First Kiss Day!" ;) For our actual anniversary, Drake and I like to take a weekend trip instead of a gift.

Our first dance song was The One by Kodaline.

  22. Happy Anniversary! We're coming up on 2 years! Our wedding song was Kenny Chesney's "Anything But Mine." =)

  23. Happy Anniversary!

Our first song was "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz. I still love it.

We Also picked "Here's to Us" by Halestorm but saved that for just us because the language would not have been appreciated by our grandparents. 😂

  29. AWWWWWWW, so so so so sweet. I love this post, so cool you took pictures every month. We are coming up on 3 years in September and I totally agree it's fun to celebrate even if it's such a small amount of time. We did the big dinner for our first anniversary but afterwards it's just been enjoying each other with maybe a card. No stress, no build up, no fuss.

Our song is 'Stuck like Glue' by Sugarland but our videographer also gave us 'God Blessed the Broken Road' on all of our videos which makes me happy.

  30. Aww Happy Anniversary!! That's actually really awesome that you have a photo of the two of from every single month! Our wedding song was Somebody Like You by Keith Urban :)

  35. Not married, but now on a quest to make sure we take at least one picture together every single month. It sound so simple. I mean 30+ days, 1 picture, but I'm sure we've already missed a month or two, especially towards the beginning.

Happy Anniversary, 3 years, big or small, is still 3 years, & I'm sure it didn't always come easy. So celebrate! Netflix + chill + Chinese style. Haha

  36. Happy anniversary!! Our four year dating anniversary is in a week! Which is silly because now we're married, but I still remember/acknowledge the dating & engagement anniversaries (but we don't do like gifts or fancy stuff, just like you said). Our first dance song was Only Love by Ben Howard. :)

  41. Happy Anniversary! Why not celebrate, you know? We celebrate our dating anniversary by going to Louisville on St. Patricks Day every year! Nothing fancy - just beer and basketball which suits us! :) You guys are certainly a gorgeous couple! I love the dressed up and dressed down photos!

  42. Happy anniversary!! Ours was "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg. It still makes my heart so giddy every time I hear it.

  44. You two are so darling! Your smiles are the best!! I saw a red lip sneak in early 2015, and I like it a lot. Happy anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Aww, happy three years!! Very cool that you've actually taken a photo together every month of that time! We had a number of songs in our wedding ceremony, some of which were somewhat picked at random, but Angel strongly requested that we walk out to the Christmas carol "Joy to the World" (we got married in December)--which was so cheesy and so hilarious and actually fit us quite perfectly--so that's the song I remember the most. haha!

  46. Congratulations & happy anniversary! You guys are adorable and only get better every year. We are also not fancy with our anniversaries. We have been together a long time but just had our second wedding anniversary in March. We usually just go out to one of our favorite restaurants or take a day trip somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Happy anniversary! I totally agree with you that you need to celebrate all the little milestones because not everybody makes it to all of them. Some people don't even make it to three years of marriage, so you're one of the lucky few! That's awesome that you took a picture every month that y'all were married! Now I'm curious if Chris and I did!

  48. Oh, you adorable young couple . . . you have so many years of fun and joy you have ahead of you! Love the picture collages . . . you both have fabulous smiles that are contagious! Happiest of Anniversary wishes to you! And our wedding song is random "Valentine" by Jim Brickman and Martina McBride.

  55. our one year dating anniversary is coming up and we're not huge celebrators but I am planning on buying him movie tickets for Pete's Dragon and we'll prob do dinner somewhere. We already had our super fancy dinner for the year in Feb, so maybe somewhere middle of the road. I wrote his card last month when he was out so it was already done (I was in a perfect sappy mood, so the opportunity was taken advantage of).

Our song is actually The Kill by Thirty Seconds to Mars because that was our very first sing-along song, and Teh German asked if it could be added to Teh Sister's wedding playlist for the reception and I had to say no since it's a breakup song. But I can guarantee it will be played at some point if/when we get hitched.

  56. hey, 3 years is 3 years! even the ones who have been married 30+ years were only married 3 years at some point. Congratulations on your anniversary! Relationships are work, work every day and it's wonderful when they keep going as a result of all the efforts and love. Love this little memory lane.

  61. So I've completely been slacking on blog commenting (maybe one day I'll finally catch up), but happy belated anniversary! :-)

I love that you guys take so many pictures together. As I was looking at all of them, I kept thinking, "We really need to start doing this more often." We used to take more pictures together when we were dating long distance, but once I moved to Omaha it felt like we didn't take as many. I guess it was easier to think about getting pictures together when we weren't sure when we'd get to see each other again ... At least we'd have something to look at when we really missed each other.

Anyway, to answer your question, our first dance song was "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. It's one of my absolute favorite love songs of all time. I walked down the aisle to the Vitamin String Quartet version of "Say Yes" by Elliott Smith. (Obviously I had to get an Elliott Smith song in there!) :-)

  62. That song is like my Bridget Jones anthem of life. It actually makes me realize how much of my life I compare to BJ's life hahaha. Congrats to you and KC. I hope you spend the rest of your lives happily together.
