Decided to do a little about me because who doesn't like to talk about themselves on their blogs, right? Got these questions from Kathleen, you should definitely check out her blog if you haven't already.
1. Are you named after someone?
No. But just for fun, this is apparently how my naming went down.
Mum: I want to name her Bree Lee (mum's name is Lee)
Nana: that's stupid.
Mum: I know.
Nana: what about Kirsten? (at home, we pronounce it Kirs-ten, not Keers-ten)
Mum: ew. what if I swap the I and the R? Kristen?
Nana: that's unique. Lee can be her middle name
Mum: No, I want Kristen Lee to be her first name.
Mum: No, I want Kristen Lee to be her first name.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Oh jeez, 5 minutes ago? I cry a lot. It's weird.
3. Do you have kids?
Yep, I've been hiding them from you this whole time.
4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
ahhhh I don't know. I think I am a good friend, but I also think I am quite annoying. ha.
5. Do you have a guilty pleasure?
I don't feel guilty about anything really, except rare binge eating sessions.
6. Do you like your handwriting?
No. Fun fact, at home - when I grew up, anyway - in primary school, we used pencils and then when you got your 'pen license' you could use pens. Yes, this is real. Most people got them in year 5 or 6, I think. I got mine on the last day of year 6, which is the last day of school, which is the last possible day they can give it to you before high school where you have to use pens. So translation: my handwriting has always been really bad.
7. What is your favourite cereal?
Coco pops / Cocoa krispies here. Just like a chocolate milkshake, only crunchy.
8. What is the first thing you notice about people?
Their face.. but that sounds weird. Like if they look like a nice person in their face. Yeah I'm sure that's not making sense.
9. Do you have any pets?
Do I?
1 dog & 1 cat in Oz, 3 cats here. Pacey is the dog, Agatha is the cat, I don't seem to have a photo of her. You should know my cats here - Penny, Chelsea & Millie.
10. Scary movies or happy endings?
Not even a contest, I hate scary movies. Bring on the corny sappy happy endings for all!
11. Favourite TV Show?
I honestly don't watch that much TV, unless you count HGTV. I do like Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Greys, Once Upon A Time, but I am behind on all of them. Recently I have been rewatching Charmed because why not.
12. Summer or Winter?
Summmmmmmmaaaahhh. I am a summer baby, although obviously February is not in the summer here, it is at home, and that just never leaves your blood. Okay, it doesn't leave mine.
13. Hugs or Kisses?
Hugs. I don't want to kiss anyone else, thanks, but I am a sucker for hugs. All you people who hate hugs? Sorry, I'm probably gonna hug you.
14. What's the furthest you've been away from home?
Um.... which is further? Kentucky, or Europe? Let me check. Okay, according to google, Dublin is the furthest from Sydney.
15. Do you have any special talents?
No. I can make my eyes look in different directions (up down) but I'm not putting that on the internet as everyone I have ever shown calls it my 'ugly scary face'.
16. Where were you born?
17. What are your hobbies?
Reading (are you shocked?), watching HGTV...... That's about it. Is eating a hobby? I run and stuff.
18. What color are you eyes?
Brown. Sigh. If you look really close and in the sunlight, they are hazel, and in my biased opinion, really pretty. KC does not believe me, he always makes fun of me when I say they are hazel. RUDE.
19. Favourite movie?
Pride & Prejudice. Again, shocked? Also, Calamity Jane. Don't judge.
I can do without you!
20. What color is your car?
Blue.
21. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A princess! No, for reals. Also, a writer, a tiger expert and the person who makes movie trailers. Spoiler: I am none of those things.
What did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing it?
What did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing it?
Haha my sister always told people her eyes were a hazel/honey color and we always used to make fun of her. But was more to give her a hard time. Her eyes aren't your typical brown either. I have never watched Charmed, should I? The pen license thing cracks me up, I am not sure when I would have gotten mine if we had that here. My hand writing isn't super pretty and bubbly like most girls either. Boo. These posts are always fun :)
ReplyDeleteWait wait, shopping isn't your guilty pleasure?! ;)
ReplyDeleteFun post!
ReplyDeleteWhat do I want to be when I grow up? I world traveller with lots of discretionary income. Am I doing it? Well... not exactly. But, my husband and I always play the lottery, so come Wednesday night, that could very well change! LOL!
I wanted to be a lawyer. I actually finished the first year of law school before deciding that it wasn't for me.
ReplyDeleteyassss p&p for the win always and forever. love learning about your name and such. i think i knew a lot of the others. and hugs > kisses except for your man. i mean who doesn't that? oh wait europeans haha.
ReplyDeletexoxo cheshire kat
This is so cute and fun- and the perfect length!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be a vet when I grew up, haha. I decided that volunteering and animal rescue make me happier than cutting dogs and cats open, though!
This is fun! I'm going to do this. The whole post made me laugh. I have/had crappy handwriting too. People in school used to tell me that I wrote like a boy. I cry a lot too.
ReplyDeletemy writing is hideous; as if i wrote blindfolded with my left hand. i always envied those who had such pretty handwriting.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to be a princess, too. But sadly, I am not. Ha! Loved learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteI'm over here with brown aka hazel eyes too! I don't care what anyone says about mine, they're obvi hazel, but my MIL pisses me off to no end by calling Henry's eyes brown when they're very clearly a blue hazel! Like, can she even see at all??? She's all like, "Oh I bought Henry this shirt because it will look nice with his brown eyes" and I'm like BI*CH STEP OFF SOMEWHERE AND GET NEW GLASSES. They're hazel.
ReplyDeleteI planned to be a princess when I grew up too, girlie minds think alike, hahaha. The name of the town you were born in is so cute, KEW!!!!! Loved learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a fun post! I loved watching Charmed so much, and during high school a few episodes always came on in the afternoon, and that's what I would watch when I got home from school. You also can't beat a good HGTV binge session! I just want to look at all the houses!
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love P&P? Also, I totally think you can still work on being a princess :) Jess at Just Jess
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post! I totally wanted to be a Princess too when I grew up. Heck, I still do. haha
ReplyDeleteYES to Downton Abbey, still so sad it's over but love how they wrapped things up! Gimme all the cocoa cereals and of course all the travels around the world <3
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
Oh, Calamity Jane! I used to love that movie when I was younger. I watched it over and over. I haven't thought of it in ages. It might be time to introduce my daughter to it.
ReplyDeleteA Princess? That just makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteYippee for another hugger that says, Sorry, i'm hugging you anyways :)
OK - why didn't I remember you had a dog? I see the cats all the time on IG & didn't realize you had a big fur baby.
Charmed! I LOVED that show. Give me that & Buffy the Vampire Slayer on reruns all weekend long & I'm a happy girl.
I laughed out loud at your answer to #3, and I would still not have a pen license if that were a thing here, haha, my handwriting is so awful! One of my friends looooves watching Charmed too, but I've never seen it!
ReplyDeleteI think the names are parents really wanted to name us are always the worst which is why they didn't make us suffer. I was supposed to be Brandy or Misty, I'll take neither thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo Kristen isn't a normal name in Australia? My mom always told us we "just felt like" a Jenn or a Sarah or whatever, which was kind of a fun way to do it. Of course, we all got really common names with that system. :P Oh, and the pen license thing is really funny! I don't think we had rules about which items to use in elementary or high school but teachers always pushed pencils, because you could erase. Years later, I prefer pens for taking notes, because pencil smears horribly.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about whether or not I would be my own friend! Sometimes I think no but right now I think yes. Me and me would each understand the other's need for space and not get offended if we didn't want to travel together and so on.
I wanted to be an artist and I'm a graphic designer, so it's kind of close.
ok you are the only other person I know who has seen the movie Calamity Jane. I LOVE that movie. I used to watch Turner Classic Movies like it was my job in high school and I was always really excited when this one came on.
ReplyDeleteAlso I may or may not watch Charmed every morning while I'm getting ready for work. Well I say watch...it's mostly just on for background noise because I hate it being super quite so I turn on the TV.
Oh and thanks for the shout out girly! :)
I'm named after a brand of marmalade. Ok well not named AFTER it, but one day when my mom was pregnant, they were having English muffins with "King Kelly" marmalade and said, "Hey, Kelly's a nice name." Voila. My middle name, Elizabeth, is after Elizabeth Bennet <--FATE!
ReplyDeleteI loved Calamity Jane when I was kid!!! If you'd asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up during the Calamity Jane era I probably would have said a rider for the Pony Express.
My eyes are light blue but I like to pretend they are grey... Seems more elegant. :-)
This was so fun! I loved learning more about you.. and i think I'm an annoying friend too... but I make good cookies so I hope that makes up for me being annoying. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo fun to learn a little bit more about you! HGTV is on in the background of this house most days!
ReplyDeleteNeat questions! But when you said "Kew!", I thought it was Australian slang for 'cool' or something :) My brother was named after two uncles, my sister was named after an aunt, then I come along and my mom claims I'm named after two queens (Elizabeth Anne). I think they just ran out of relatives to name kids after ...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be an apple picker when I was older, so that's cool. Hahaha. I've heard Kirsten pronounced both ways here. It always confuses me, I'm like...how am I supposed to tell?! They sound so different!
ReplyDeleteThese kind of posts are always so much fun!

I love these kinds of posts, so interesting to find out more about other bloggers!! I am most definitely a summer person, too! Bring on all the warm weather, cookouts and swimming parties!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed these. I may have to do this.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would've thought Kentucky would've been further...interesting. I randomly thought of you as I was driving through Louisville yesterday...can't believe we are only 1.5 hours away from one another!
I love coco krispies too! I really don't eat them much anymore but I loved drinking the milk.
OMG - I love Calamity Jane! Such a classic. And, a pen license? That seriously is the greatest thing that I've ever heard. They should do that here. Your pup back home in Oz is seriously the sweetest. Always love learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading this and getting to know more about you! Fun answers!

I wanted to be a teacher and the President when I grew up. I am doing neither. HA
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you have a dog at home!
My Dad wanted to name me Tina and my Mom wanted Tonya. They agreed on Tanya, although it's pronounced like Tonya, which means meany people mispronounce my name. :) I never used to be much of a hugger until I moved to California where everybody hugs. Now I actually like it. But in Minnesota, we're extremely polite but not huggers! LOL! I wanted to be a teacher, hair stylist, rockstar and movie director when I was a kid. My dream to be a princess remains!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am new to the blog! Loved getting to know you better and loved your fun style :) Oh man, I do remember those pen licenses...I actually dreamt with getting it so worked my butt to get one. By the way, love your name!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! My sister's name is Kirsten :) Funny that your mum didn't like that name. Also, is Oz the nickname for Australia? I never knew that but that's so cool! I wanted to be a musician or chef when i was young, then when I realized I didn't want to struggle my whole life I wanted to be a product designer/web designer. Now I'm doing a little bit of all of those!
ReplyDeleteMy parents thought my name was original when they named me it too.. Haha
ReplyDeleteI love these types of posts! Also, LOVE Cocoa Krispies. I have a box at home right now haha. I wanted to be an architect when I was little. Well, right after ballerina/dancer. But my friend's mom was an architect and once I found out how much math was involved (and how the ability to draw a straight line is kind of an important skill that I don't have), I changed it to wanting to be a school counselor/psychologist. I'm none of those things now either!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be a physical therapist, until my Mom told me that meant I might have to touch feet. So then that was out.
ReplyDeleteThen I was going to be an architect, though I'm not sure what squashed that dream.
Then I was going to build a house out of shipping containers...which is why I decided to major in Supply Chain.
And then I decided I was going to be rich. And so far, the last one is still holding out. I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it.
And I'm named after my great grandfather, so, I get addressed as Sir all the time, or like I check into a hotel or rent a car & people are confused when I show up.
Stop it - I love the pen license thing - that is so neat!! Love your funny answer to do you have kids haha!! You're a riot! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteThese are so much fun! I love learning a bit more about everyone! And I'm a summer baby too, although I'm a US summer baby LOL. And yesss to cocoa krispies!!
ReplyDeleteI love the pen license story! Haha. Also, totally love that you googled the furthest place you've been from Sydney!
ReplyDeleteCoco Pops look yummy! They look similar to Coco Puffs cereal we have in America. They're soooo yummy :D
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Edye | Http://gracefulcoffee.wordpress.com
Such a fun post! My handwriting is terrible, and growing up, I wanted to be a princess, a nurse, an astronaut, and Indiana Jones. Sadly, I'm none of those things...
ReplyDeleteAh I hate scary movies too so I'm with you there! And the eye trick sounds cool but yeah a little scary ha.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't know what's wrong with Bree Lee ;)
ReplyDeletePhew thank goodness she didn't name you Bree Lee lol and I much prefer Kristen to Kirsten. I thought Lee was your last name. Whoops.
ReplyDeleteOh I loved this post! So many fun facts! And even though I think I "know" you, I always learn something new and interesting. Sorry about getting your Pen License (WTF?!! LOL) at the last minute! That must sting. I'm working on my childhood goal of being a showgirl, so it's still not too late for you to become a tiger expert at the very least, though! :)
ReplyDeleteRandom fun fact: a girl that I considered a little sister in my life since I was about 16 and she was 13...she lived in Cali for about 15 years (just moved back to TX). She dated a guy who made movie trailers, and we went to his studio. Being a music lover, I was most intrigued with his stories of how they select what songs are used in the trailers. Sometimes the studio makes the demand and the trailer-maker (I'm sure there is a proper job title, but I don't know it) works with it. Other times, the trailer-maker picks and has to submit for all sorts of clearance and negotiations for royalties that will be spent for using it.
ReplyDeleteThe pen license fascinated me that it's an actual thing in Australia. I just can't get over teachers deciding when your handwriting is good enough to use a pen. I'm glad you got yours eventually, even if it was a bit of a consolation prize.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little I wanted to be a writer and a mum - I've achieved one of those so far :P Though I never expected to! I started out as a photographer and kind of fell into writing!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhh the good old pen license. I got mine pretty early and then managed to lose it that same day so I was always having to get the substitute teachers to go and check the roll because I couldn't show my pen ID. Australia is so messed up hahahaha.
My handwriting is often terrible too. Mainly because I write a lot and I am always rushing, hence scribbles.
ReplyDeletehttp://Runwright.net
I love reading surveys/quizzes like this! That's super interesting that kids had to get a pen license in school.. I've never heard of that! When I was younger all I wanted to do was be an author. In 3rd grade I won some story-writing thing and got some award and I thought for sure I was going to write books. Nope, never happened! I guess I started a blog so I could start writing again?! Haha.
ReplyDeleteTravis always makes fun of me when I say I have hazel eyes too. He thinks they are just brown but they really are hazel!!! I just let my kids have a pen license for a day as a reward for good behavior, I don't care about their handwriting. My mom thought she was being so unique naming me Courtney because she had never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteA pen license?! That is crazy, haha! And totally agree about summer all day, every day - how can we make that happen?
ReplyDeleteha I love this. Gosh I haven't seen Calamity Jane in ages... hehe I should get it. Wow, how sensitive of everyone to call it your "ugly scary face" - LOL - thanks guys. I definitely also wanted to be a princess, a mermaid (less realistic? - LOL), and then later a marine biologist. None of the above are practical... or currently happening. hehe I love this post. FWIW I have heard Kirsten as (KIRS - TEN and KEERS - TEN). I went to school with a girl who was named Kristin - instead of Kristen. So apologies if I ever type it wrong! XO - Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Haha this was so fun to read! I love learning more about everyone. Ans I agree your name now is way better than Bree Lee ;)
ReplyDeleteI was born the same year in September :). You make me want to watch Charmed. I never actually watched them sequentially, just random ones. I've not been watching tv in an effort to catch some movies, though. I've never heard of Calamity Jane, but maybe I should trust you based on my Pride & Prejudice experience haha. I am not in a scary movie mood lately, although usually I like them. I want all the happy movies.
ReplyDeleteThank God the pen license wasn't a thing where I went to school! I probably would have earned it the last day as well.
ReplyDeleteA pen license?! Bahaha! Too funny! Love the story about your name!
ReplyDeleteThese are always fun to do and get to know people! I've never heard of a pen license, but I would have gotten it the same as you because I have terrible handwriting. Oh man Charmed was sooo good!!
ReplyDeleteI love posts like this! So fun! Pride and Prejudice forever and ever!
ReplyDeleteBree Lee. A pen license. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI have a picture I drew in grade school that says when I grow up I want to be a cheerleader. So, I guess that didn't happen in my adult life.
Speaking of P&P I just watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies last night. Have you seen/read that yet?
I've never heard of a pen license! That's kind of hilarious, but totally makes sense!
ReplyDeleteI love Calamity Jane!! And so does my sister, Abby. When she calls me, the ringtone I have set for her is "I Can Do Without You" from that movie. Love it! And of course you know I love P & P too! :)
Aw, that's so adorable that "Kristen" was the unique option over Kirsten. I love your name, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't know a lot of other Kristin/Kristens. (You're one of my favorites though ;))
ReplyDeletePen license?! That sounds so intense. I just remember teachers encouraging us not to use pens until they were sure we could be trusted with ink. In 6th grade (11-12 years old) we all used pens and thought that made us grownups.
Team no scary movies! Although I hate super predictable rom coms too... maybe that's why I have so many movies on my "haven't seen" list. I'm picky.
I definitely see the greenish tint to your eyes in the sun or when you're wearing certain (probably just green) colored tops.
A tiger expert! Hah! That is awesome. Still would be totally cool. I wanted to be a teacher, a lawyer, and a writer. Not a lawyer, sometimes a writer, and some kinda teacher. Not too shabby, I guess.
"Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Earth." Hahahaha. That pen license thing sounds like just another for the anxiety pile of school children everywhere. Then again, if it's something you're used to, maybe you're not so worried? Then again-again, it's hilarious that you didn't get yours until the last possible moment. You're an inspiration to handwriting underdogs everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI've been getting various signs lately that when I get a dog, I should go for a golden retriever. You & Pacey sealed the deal. Adorable.
I loved reading this! Some of my favorite posts are the simple "get to know me" posts because I feel like I always learn at least one or two new things, even if I've been reading someone's blog and interacting with them for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be an actress and a writer (and maybe a singer also) when I was a kid. Clearly I'm not any of those things, though I do write a lot ... I just don't get paid for it. :-)
P.S. My car is also blue. I've decided I love blue cars most and will likely get blue again when I'm ready for a new car.
A pen Licenses?! That is hilarious! I have awful handwriting too. It's like chicken scratch. I always wanted to be a "business woman" (whatever that means!) but now I just wanna stay home and be lazy all the time :)
ReplyDeleteI KNEW you were hiding children from us!! Have you started FNL yet?! You know I'm going to hound until you do, right? ;) That's hilarious about Bree Lee. My mom's name is Sheri Lee, so now I'm like, thank god my parents didn't name me Brieana Lee, because then I WOULD BE BRIE LEE!!! Haha!
ReplyDeleteAh! I'm a hugger, too. I love reading posts like this. If we ever stumble into meeting in real life, we're going to hug it out. I think people who don't like hugs are weird. Haha
ReplyDelete
