I was gonna be all cute and say numero trois, but I thought that was more annoying than cute.
Anyway. It's been a hot minute since I got a stitch fix, and I thought birthday time was high time for another.
Just a reminder, the link I am using in this post is a referral link - if you sign up for stitch fix, I get a $25 credit, and that is more than $0, so if you want to sign up.. I won't be mad.
My first fix was kind of a flop, though I got my striped dress that I loved. My second fix was more dangerous, but in hindsight I'm glad I didn't keep everything like I almost did.
This time, I mentioned I would love some cute, fun dresses as I had a cruise and a couple of girls trips coming up. I wanted some fancier but some casual. That's all I wanted, really. I don't remember my exact note, but I think I said dresses, midi skirts and possibly work pants? I don't remember asking for tops, but I could be wrong.
Here's what I got:
Mavi Rubinelli Button Down Top $58 - Returned.
Ugh. No. Hard no. Just.. no. Too short, see through, not my style at all, just nope. Sorry for the awkward back picture but I wanted to show the equally as awkward strip of weirdness on the back of the shirt.
Papermoon Bastille Tulip Sleeve Blouse $44 - Returned.
This top wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything amazing either. I would only wear it to work, and I rarely wear short sleeves to work, so... nope.
Liverpool Jordyn Bootcut Pant $88 - Returned.
I really don't like bootcut style pants, and these were too short, not to mention way too tight for work.
Paper Crown Annaliese Dress $138 - Returned.
I'm assuming I was sent this because I pinned several different polka dot dresses (here, here, here and here) from other peoples fixes, Unfortunately, I just didn't love it. It would have had to make me look like a size 0 in order for me to pay $140 for a dress. Regardless of the price, I hated the style. It looks cute in the pictures but I felt like a pregnant child. It also looks black, but it was blue.
41Hawthorn Jace Chevron Print Dress $68 - Kept.
I actually hate chevron, and when I saw this online I got really mad because I know my profile says no chevron. However, I calmed down when I realised that I actually pinned this dress because I think the chevron is really subtle. Or maybe not subtle, just not like... crazy. I really like it in person, the fit is exactly my style, the material is different but not bad. I love the length. I'm definitely happy to keep this one.
So while this fix might seem like a bit of a flop, I don't really mind because I don't want to love everything because then I'd be broke. As long as I get one thing I really like, I call it a success. I just wish I had liked the other things in the box even a little bit, they were all hard no's from the get go, and where is the fun in that? I was really hoping for more dresses, I know stitch fix has some really cute dresses but apparently they don't like sending them to me. Also, I have seen some fabulous midi skirts on pinterest, and y'all know how much I love a good midi skirt.. but again, they don't seem to want to send me any.
Overall, I like the idea of stitch fix. I don't love their prices sometimes, but I'm well aware of that and I'm the one who keeps coming back, so that's not their fault. Plus, it's more the experience and receiving some fun things, and getting to send the not so fun things back.
Also, the cats love the box, as I'm sure you can tell!
I love that chevron dress! It looks amazing on you! And I don't think you look like a pregnant child in the polka dot one but I agree, for $140 you really need to love it! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteI am with you, I see some people who keep all of their items and I think wow I would be broke fast if I did that!
ReplyDeleteI love that Chevron dress on you!!! I think you looked really pretty in the polka dot one!!! I don't see where you look pregnant?? The waste was cinched in the perfect spot and I liked how the top was cut. But I wouldn't pay $140 for it so you are right there! Not for something you didn't feel comfortable in no matter how cute I think it is. And ummm those two tops? Yeah no. WTF is up with the back of that white one??? And why is it so short? This isn't 1998.
ReplyDeleteThe first shirt looks so dated, like I would have worn it in high school ten years ago. (That feels weird to say.)
ReplyDeleteThe second one is cute, but too basic for the price.
I love both of the dresses, but I think you made the right decision on which one to keep.
that chevron dress!! it's so pretty. don't you hate it when something online looks so amazing (the polka dot drerss) but it actually looks like ass when you put it on and nothing makes sense in the world anymore?
ReplyDeleteWhat is even happening with that white top?! I love the last dress though. The fit is great!
ReplyDeleteThat first pic is adorable, and I LOVE that chevron dress!!! <3
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yes, your cats really love the box! I got tickled seeing them in and around the box...investigating. :)
ReplyDeletei've done stitch fix in the past and i agree - it can be dangerous! i had to cancel so i wasn't buying so much haha. i love that chevron dress on you! SO slimmering. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo cheshire kat
Love the dress you kept! It looks great on you! And I actually love the polka dot dress and the tulip sleeve top too. :) But I get why you didn't keep them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a Stitch Fix before, but I have the same fear of wanting to buy everything that they send me. I think the two dresses they sent you were very cute, but if you're not comfortable wearing something, you definitely shouldn't buy it! The chevron dress you did keep is cute, and I think it'll be perfect for your cruise or your girls' trips!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I like both of those dresses! I actually like the first shirt (button down with the weird lace), too! I'm too cheap to do stitch fix, but I love looking at other people's hauls!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that dress on you. So flattering and the colors are neutral enough that you can jazz it up with accessories! I'm glad that you kept it, and yay for it not being super expensive!
ReplyDeleteeven though you only got one dress out of this (cute, by the way!), the cats got what I can only assume to be hours of fun with that box. we have random boxes all over my apartment because my cat loves them (all of them) and I can't bring myself to throw them away. don't worry, I hide them when we have guests :)

I really like both dresses, but I totally understand why you didn't keep the expensive one. Yikes! I love reading stitchfix reviews - while I can't justify the prices for me (I'm too cheap), it gives me great ideas of what's cute and things I can look for in stores!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the first top in theory. Like if it were the right size/not made for a child maybe? I hate dresses that are cut like that polka dot dress too, so while I lol'ed at "pregnant child" I actually totally get what you mean. The chevron dress is amazing, both on you and in general. That's the kind of thing I'd never pick out on my own (and can even see myself saying things like "no chevron" and being wrong). I kind of want to try Stitch Fix just to see if there's anything they could hit it out of the park with that I never would have bought for myself. I'm glad you feel like it's worth it even though you don't love everything. You get to apply the stylist fee to anything you buy, right? And then you get a discount if you keep everything?
ReplyDeletei thought you looked cute in them all! esp the first dress and the black top. too bad it was a flop, but fun to try! i've never done stitch fix before.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think the "stylists" can't read. Or don't understand words have meaning. I get that it may be on us because we (me) keep going back. But I do wonder what the qualifications for working at Stitchfix are?
ReplyDeleteI actually love that polka dot dress on you! But, I'm really into polkas! Hah! I've heard it takes them a few months to narrow in on your style, so maybe it'll just get better and better? :)
ReplyDeleteI love the dress you kept - it looks like good quality material so hopefully it lasts a while. I think the other dress looks so cute on you, but the price is definitely a bit steep. I have a gift card to stitch fix so I'll have to schedule another one soon!
ReplyDeleteI like the pleating on that Chevron dress and was cracking up about your no Chevron comment but that dress fits you like a dream!
ReplyDeleteThat chevron dress looks amaze on you! So does the polka dot one, although that price is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of Stitch Fix, but I've never seen a blogger review where there box matched my style. I feel like it would be a lot of misses. I do really like that chevron dress though, it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress you kept! It looks great on you. I actually really love the polka dot one on you too, but I don't love the price haha!
ReplyDeleteI think the blue dress looked cute on you but I get it - when you don't "feel" it - nope - especially for $140.00. Glad you kept the chevron dress -that's adorable. You can pull off those pleats!
ReplyDeleteYou have the cutest little shape on you!!!
That dress looks great on you. Good thing you liked something in the box! It seems weird they would send work style tops and pants when you mentioned Vegas and a girls trips.
ReplyDeleteI haven't jumped on the Stich Fix Bandwagon yet. Mostly because, just like you, I feel like it would be easy for me to just keep everything and then be broke. haha. I might give it a try eventually.
ReplyDeleteThe Chevron dress is really cute! I like how you asked for a bunch of dresses... and then only ended up with 2 (???)
ReplyDeleteI love that Chevron dress and it looks super cute on you! I've never ordered a stitch fix box but the idea intrigues me. I'm worried I'd love everything and end up being broke because of it haha.
ReplyDeleteYou look great in both dresses, but the price tag and how you felt in the polka dot dress makes sense why you didn't keep it. I hear you on not wanting a fabulous box everytime, it's nice to be able to send back things.
ReplyDeleteThe dress you kept is so cute! I like the polka dot one too but I totally get why you didn't keep it.
ReplyDeleteso I know that you sent back two of the items, but I loved all of the styles on you! And I know you didn't get the jeans from the stitchfix but I love your jeans!
ReplyDeleteyour cat is adorable. Ours love boxes too.
liz @ j for joiner
Those dresses look amazing on you! I've been so intrigued by this service, and love the pieces you received <3
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
I like the black top... a lot... but that makes sense why you sent it back. I love both the dresses too... but yeah. I would never spend that much on almost anything. Fun, cats always do love the boxes. Ours loooove the honest bundle boxes! :P XO - Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Oh man, that first top is bad. And that black one? I like the sleeve but it's really just a plain black tee. I think I got those bootcut pants in one of my fixes. They fit well but I didn't love the color. I tend to not wear bootcut either but the Margaret M pair that I kept from my last fix were bootcut.
ReplyDeleteI totally have no chevron in my style profile too but that dress looks really good on you!
That Chevron dress is so pretty! And the fit on you is lovely! Good choice to keep it!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you got the chevron dress out of it! I like the concept of Stitch Fix but I don't know if it'd work out for me. Pretty much all of my clothes come from Old Navy, Gap, or Target - clearance racks, pretty much all the way too since I don't follow trends and keep an eye out on comfortable 'classics'. I was going to say something about the cat trap/box. :) My cats seek out boxes too.
ReplyDeleteI like what you kept, the cut is really pretty on you! And the chevron is super subtle so it's not like it's bright pink! Um, I must say - I LOVE the polka dot on you!!! Love, love, love! If they send it back again you should keep it :) I agree about the first top. I like it and it's cute but not for that price. That cut would be hard for me!
ReplyDeleteOh I really like the way you look in the polka dotted dress! I think it's very flattering but I totally understand what you're saying. I a big fan of the cut of the chevron dress. I bought one that looks very similar from Old Navy last summer for my Eurotrip. I wish I had bought the same dress in a few different colors. I do that a lot. With shirts too. lol
ReplyDeleteIs stitch fix really worth it? I'm thinking about trying it out but I'm nervous!
I feel like I need to have a chat with your stitch fix stylist! Like you said, it's a relief to NOT want everything you got, but it seems like they should at least send things that were in the ballpark of your preferences. I'm glad you at least got one dress you liked! It definitely fits and flatters beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally the same way. As long as I love one item I am a happy gal!! I really love the black short sleeve top. I understand why you returned it, but I think I might pin it for myself :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that first top is...something. I can't get over that strange back. I love the dress you kept though-it's super cute on you!
ReplyDeleteI also HATE chevron but I think that dress is cute on me.
ReplyDeleteThat first top looks like it's worth about five bucks.
That chevron dress looks like it was made for you! I know what you mean about chevron. I feel like it's everywhere in like turquoise and hot pink and crazy colors, but the colors of that dress are more muted so it's more classy and less busy.
ReplyDeleteEven though you only kept one thing, I think it's a success...because that one thing (since it's a pattern you don't normally like) is something you probably would have passed on in a store and not tried. But, it looks perfect on you. So, it's a winner! I haven't looked, I just assumed that stitch fix doesn't come to Australia. Do you know if it comes here? I probably should just look.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, they do not ship internationally. I checked.
DeleteYour cat is so cute! I love all these clothing pieces, they're so cute!! Have a great week <3
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Edye // Gracefulcoffee.wordpress.com
Okay, I gotta say. I love almost everything on this post! That polka dotted dress is AMAZING... but I'd be hard-pressed to find any singular item of clothing I'd spend that much on. Especially something so distinct like that that you couldn't wear to the same place too frequently or anything like that. Shoes or a coat I could wear multiple times a week, that's a different story. But oh, that dress is so pretty. The second one is amazing too, and much more reasonably priced ;)
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see a Stitch Fix post I'm inspired to try it, but I can never convince myself it'll really be worth my while. Maybe if I end up back in an office and need to replenish a work wardrobe that would be a different story... if I do though, I'll for sure use your link ;)
Love the dress you kept!! That pattern is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteLove that dress on you! The pleats are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress you kept! That black top looks great on you too, but understandable that you wouldn't keep it if you wouldn't get much use out of it!
ReplyDeleteThat chevron dress is super cute. Definitely subtle. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI am the same as you! One item kept is definitely a success!! Love the chevron dress too!! And it can really be multi-seasonal! So win-win!!
ReplyDeleteThat chevron dress looks adorable on you!! I'm glad you kept it. Something tells me you will wear it alot more than you think.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress you kept. I also really like the polka dot dress but there is no way in hell I would have paid $140 for it.
ReplyDeleteLMAO @ your commentary on the first top!!! I agree... way too short!
ReplyDeleteI really like the second one a lot! But like you said, if you'd only wear it to work then why bother? I try to spend as little on my work ONLY clothes as possible, lol
I like the dress you ended up keeping!
I really like the dress that you kept! Stitch Fix seems like a lot of hit and miss stuff but I would be for sure tempted to try it out.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I've ever worn Chevron but that dress is really cute on you! And I agree with the first top...absolutely not!
ReplyDeleteI really like the last dress! The material also looks nice and structured. For $68, not bad at all. Great keeper! The pleats down the front are also placed nicely.
ReplyDeleteThe white cat (sorry, can't remember the name) eyeing the box and then getting it totally made me giggle. LOVE the chevron dress. It looks fabulous on you! I liked the other dress as well but didn't seem $140 worth of special! I've never tried because I can buy my own yoga pants and jeans (winky face) but might consider it when I have an occasion to dress for!
ReplyDeleteI would wear the polka dot dress, but my wedding dress cost $150 and it was gorgeous, so, yeah, in this case, I don't think the price matches the dress very well. I really like the one you kept!
ReplyDeleteThe chevron dress is really cute! I really like the shape of the dress. I haven't tried Stitch Fix yet. I really like the idea, but if I bought everything I would be broke, and if I didn't like everything, I would be disappointed...
ReplyDeletewhoa i don't usually like chevron either (usually HATE it) but something about that style and the color is PERFECT! I would keep too!
ReplyDeleteI agree on all the other returns too! (:
I LOVE that Chevron-that-doesn't-really-look-like-chevron-dress. The silhouette and cut is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe dress you kept fits you perfectly! Great choice! I would have been dissapointed if you sent it back!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress that you kept! so cute and looks nice on you. I hate that see-thru strip on the back of the first shirt... blah. I'm glad you returned it :P
ReplyDeleteYeesh. That white shirt is really awful.
ReplyDeleteLove the chevron dress! I like chevron but think it is a bit overdone these days. That dress is super cute though! And not a bad price really. $140 for that other one is overboard.
Super late to the party here but I think the chevron dress is amazing! It really suits you and you could wear it to so much stuff. I think the polka dot one looks good too, but if it didn't feel good then nah, especially at $140. Yikes. The white top is so weird (whyyyy with the inappropriate see through panels. They need to stop now) and I think the short sleeve top looks really nice, but I never wear them either. Too cold by themselves and they bunch weird under jumpers.
ReplyDeleteI think it might enjoy the idea/experience of Stitchfix more than the results (if I were able to get it), if that makes sense.
I actually really like the polka dot dress, but I'm a huge fan of polka dots and I obviously didn't see it on you in person. And, really, if you're uncomfortable in it and it's not at the price point you're going for, it's silly to keep it.
ReplyDeleteI like the dress you kept as well, though. It's really cute and flattering!
I've never used Stitch Fix, and I think about it from time to time. I don't know if I'd like it, though, because I feel like I can be really picky with clothes. I also think it would be hard for me to give them sizes (or do they just go by measurements)? I feel like different brands are cut differently, and it's never a "one size fits me across the board" situation. Dresses are the worst of the worst for me because my chest is large and my waist and hips are not. Sometimes I have to size up in a dress just for the chest and then have it taken in ... So basically I avoid dresses unless I absolutely need them and/or can find something that isn't super fitted everywhere. Haha.
Everything looks great but in particular that chevron dress is super cute!!

i really like the polka dot dress! but yahhh that's way too much for it and it does look black and white not blue! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteSo I liked the polka dot dress, but then I saw the chevron and love it so much more! Even with the other things kind of being duds for you, the last dress was totally worth it!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the polka dot dress on you! The chevron one is really pretty too! I feel like the other reason I would ever get stitch fix is so that I can try on clothes that are way too expensive that I would never buy. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI think both dresses look great on you.
