I've never..

Decided to take a new spin on humpday today... Confessing things I have never done.

More Coffee Less Talky

I've never:

Had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. No thank you please.

Fallen asleep while reading. How do you even do that? Seriously how? It's not because I love to read or anything, it's because I just don't fall asleep whilst doing something, and reading is doing something.

Fallen asleep while sitting upright on the couch. If I lay down, I will fall asleep, but KC falls asleep sitting upright (okay, reclined, but still, it's pretty upright) on the couch and it's always baffled me.

Seen an episode of Saturday Night Live. Really.

Had an inside dog. Our dogs always lived outside. Might be a weather thing. I wouldn't make a dog sleep outside in the middle of a Kentucky winter.

Eaten at Chipotle. I'm pretty sure Louisville didn't have one until fairly recently (like last couple years) but I'm really not big on mexican (fancy or fast food) anyway.

Owned a male cat. I could say 'pet' but I've actually had a male dog (my brothers, actually) and a male mouse (his name was garfield and I lost him in my room). But all of my cats, at home and with KC, have been girls.

Eaten a fish taco. Up until recently, I hadn't eaten chicken tacos either, but Katie's recipe changed that and we have those fairly often.

Had a bee intentionally sting me. I stepped on one once, I'm sure he was not expecting that.

Skied. I have been snow boarding, but not skiing.

Eaten a twinkie. Meh.

Been on those pirate ship rides. I am pretty game for most rides, except for the pirate ship one. Nope nope NOPE.

Blown up a balloon. This might be the weirdest one and this is going to sound super weird, but I have never ever been able to blow up a balloon.

Have you done any of these, or is there anything normal / common you've not done?

  1. So fun learning more about you. I have to say, the balloon one is pretty unique!

  2. I, too, have never eaten at Chipotle, had an inside dog, or skied (but I have snowboarded, like you). Fun post!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I laughed at the bee one--Im sure he wasn't expecting being stepped on either! haha. This was a fun way of getting to know some unique facts about you! :)

  4. I think I have done all of these ha, although now I don't know if I would ever eat at Chipotle again.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm sorry, did you say you aren't big on Mexican?? WTF? Tacos Kristen! Nachos!!! I just...how??? Haha. I have never skied, had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, eaten a fish taco, or been on a pirate ship ride.

  6. This is awesome :) I haven't eaten at Chipotle because we don't have it in Canada, but I do enjoy a few places that are pretty similar!! I prefer DIY mexican though when we are in the mood :) I don't think I've ever fallen asleep reading either...although I can see how you could maybe fall asleep listening to an audiobook if you are really tired. I can only fall asleep upright if I'm 100% exhausted and I'm on an airplane or travelling. :)

  7. This was very revealing! I've done all of these things haha!

  8. I have practically lived off of PB&Js before. I went through a phase as a kid when that was all I would eat. I still eat them occasionally.

I have never eaten a fish taco (but I do LOVE Mexican food) or skied.

  9. lol i love this random list. you're not missing much with chipotle. i don't even like it. and don't hate me but reading puts me to sleep after like 20 min. i TRY to stay away but i'm old. ha.

  10. I've done all of these, except for the pirate ship -- eff that noise. I fall asleep upright on the couch ALL the time!! Haha, I would say poor bee, but he might have come after you if you didn't step on him first -- bees are the worst.

  11. You've never fallen asleep while reading??? I'm too stubborn to put down a book and admit defeat to sleep, so I usually end up falling asleep with book in hand :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. You mean I've been to Louisville's Chipotle and you haven't? :)
And I seriously love a good fish taco, but you have to get them from a place that knows what they are doing.
And you're really not missing out on Twinkies. So I don't blame you for not having one!

  13. No PB&J sandwiches in your life?! Omg. I eat one almost every other day like I'm still in pre-school, lol. I've also never seen an episode of Saturday Night Live...oh well! Have a wonderful Wednesday, friend! xo

    ReplyDelete
  14. You've never eaten a pb and j! Haha, that one is hard to believe, and I have only eaten at Chipotle once and I wasn't a huge fan... I don't get what all of the hype is about!

    1. haha it's not that hard to believe really, it's not a thing at home at all. i think it's an american thing!

  15. Mind. Blown. This is quite a random, impressive list!! And there is no judgment - we like what we like. I am apparently quite experienced in life because I have done all of these things except have an indoor dog. :)

  16. hehe this is a funny post. I love PB&J sometimes... but in a very nostalgic way... Chipotle is it's own sort of thing for me. I love that it's healthier and still fast, but I'll be honest.... something they use doesn't make my stomach feel great a lot of the times we go. It makes me mad... so I keep trying. It might be that something is spicier than I think it is.. who knows. I've never had a beer. True story. I can't think of anything else to mention.. so we'll stick with that! LOL XO -Alexandra

  17. In regards to falling asleep doing things, I used to think that way and then I had a baby and I fell asleep WALKING AROUND MY HOUSE holding him at 3 AM trying to get him back to sleep. Multiple times. No one ever fell or was dropped (geeze, I'm a great mom.) but I did walk into a wall (very gently...)

    ReplyDelete
  18. i've never skiied either. i'm more of a read in the cabin with cocoa kind of girl.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I freaking love PB&J. I can't imagine life without it.

As I age I fall asleep more when I'm not expecting to. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  20. Such a cute post. You never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?? It's not my favorite. I prefer peanut butter and flutter, a flutternutter sandwich. I have even eaten at Chipotle and don't think I ever will. You gotta watch SNL, so of the old episodes are hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm a Chipotle hater but otherwise a lover of Mexican and Tex Mex so I'm baffled by that one. And the PB&J... I fall asleep reading all the time! It's always dark and warm and before I know it, I'm nearly dropping my ipad on the floor. It's a dangerous habit! But I can also fall asleep anywhere...

    ReplyDelete
  22. No PB&J?! But it's goooood. Actually, I usually do PB&J Ritz cracker sandwiches instead of bread. I like the crunch and the lack of smooshiness. Crunchy Jif pb and strawberry jam. Mmmm. And SNL used to be good. I haven't watched it since Justin Timberlake's second hosting gig I think. I am in the Chipotle club with you, though. Never been. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of Mexican (or even vaguely Mexican) food. I've had male and female cats, and currently have one of each! It's kinda nice having a cat boyfriend lol. Neal is quite the mama's boy :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. You had a mouse? My sister had a gerbil and a hamster and they BOTH got lost in our room all the time. Her gerbil would chew holes in all my clothes! I like the name of your mouse, though! Cute!

PB & J is an okay thing to skip, but fish tacos?! Oh friend, you should give them a try. But you have to eat them on the coast with fresh fish. Yes, yes! So good!

Blowing up balloons freaks me out because once when I was blowing one up I had it POP while I was blowing it up and the elastic snapped back and hit my eye. I had fuzzy vision for a few days in that eye. It was awful. Pretty much all elastic things freak me out just a little (rubberbands and balloons being the worst).

    ReplyDelete
  24. I can sleep anywhere, any place, any time. I'm an excellent sleeper! I also stepped on a bee one time. It was horrible! It blended in to the floor and I didn't see it. Also, I highly recommend SNL. Start with the older ones.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've never eaten a pbj either and... I don't think I want to. Or will ever do it with other options just not my... Jam

    ReplyDelete
  26. I do not fall asleep sitting up, ever. It's why I hate plane travel so much.
I never had Chipotle until two years ago. It's good, but not THAT good.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i've never been stung by a bee either; i always run away from them. once a bee flew into my car while i was driving and i legit pulled over and ran out of the car screaming LOL

    ReplyDelete
  28. I can't fall asleep when reading either. I've stayed up till the wee hours reading because I can't put a book down! But I can't believe you've never had a PB&J. OH my yum.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I've never skied either - nor had a PB&J sandwich either (gross) - nor ate at Chipotle - I dont even know where one is at around here.
Oh gosh - I've never NOT had an inside dog. A home feels empty without dogs running around - or 2-or 3 or 4... I prefer 4 (or more) :) haha

    ReplyDelete
  30. PB&J is not all that it's cracked up to be. As in jelly is gross and should not be with peanut butter, duh! ;)

Haha, one of my Pilates mentors was just talking about blowing up balloons recently. She went to some breathing workshop and they spent a whole day on the subject of blowing up balloons and how the majority of people can't do it because they aren't blowing from their lungs, they're blowing from their cheeks. <<that's a bad summary of a really long explanation of why people can't blow up balloons, haha. Random story over!

    ReplyDelete
  31. What? No pb&j... One of my favorites to this day! Ha Although, happy to substitute for almond butter too!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know how men fall asleep sitting up, it's the weirdest thing! And omg now PB&Js? I loved on them my entire childhood, it was all I would eat for lunch.

    ReplyDelete
  33. What a riot!! I can see how some of these are definitely out there, but not being able to blow up a balloon I totally laughed out loud!! I didn't have a PB&J until I was an adult! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

    ReplyDelete
  34. My husband falls asleep while sitting up all of the time. I have to be completely comfortable in order to fall asleep and I just do not see how that is comfortable! The only other things I have never done are skiing or snowboarding and I live amongst some of the "greatest powder on earth." The balloon thing was just so unexpected. haha

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nope I've never had peanut butter and jelly either. Partly because I cannot stand anything to do with peanuts, and partly because I grew up thinking it was actual *jelly* inside the sandwich. Like the pudding jelly. Because I was too young to realise that Americans have different words and they really meant JAM.

    Nah, still doesn't appeal.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I used to eat PB&J with milk like every night when I was in grad school and so exhausted I could barely even think of cooking dinner after being in the hospital. If you had to eat peanut butter are you a smooth or crunchy kind of gal? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love this post! I do not go on the pirate ship rides either. My family has mostly had male pets until the recent addition of a girl cat. Jess at Just Jess

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh my goodness, I love Chipotle (and I'm pretty sure everyone knows it lol). Though my very first time at Chipotle I wasn't a fan but then I changed up the things that I wanted on my bowl and it was a match made in heaven!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love these! I'm not as into PB&Js as some people, but fish tacos are legit!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Fish tacos are the besssssstttt, glad you saw the light! I could eat those every day probably. That's funny you've never had a PB&J. They're good (especially great for hiking food), but they're a little sweet for me. I wouldn't have them often. I think female cats are a little better only due to the spraying factor. i know males can likely not spray ever but if they ever did once, omg it's the worst thing to clean up of all time. I can't imagine an outside dog but I'm bias because right now my dog is under my blanket with me, ha! And with all the reading you do, I'm so surprised you've never fallen asleep reading! I don't fall asleep doing many things but reading at night always makes me get really tired.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am cracking up - how have you never had a PB&J?! And, girl - major props to you for never falling asleep while reading. Some nights, Ryan has to put my Kindle away and take my glasses off my face because I just pass out.

    ReplyDelete
  42. When I tell people I've never eaten Chipotle they give me weird looks. It's right down the street but I haven't ever stopped and after the recent news I doubt I ever will.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not a fan of Mexican?! I'm sorry, we can no longer be friends ;) jk. Girl- you've gotta try a PB&J!!!! So tasty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. With you on SNL and falling asleep sitting up-- how do people do it?? haha Chipotle is something that always sounds good to me, but once I get it I end up picking around all of the meat and it ends up being a waste-- and once there was a stone in my pinto beans, so I say you're not really missing out THAT much, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No balloon or Chipotle??!! Holy moly! Agreed with falling asleep doing something or sitting up. I can't do it. Not in the car, not on the plane - nowhere and doing nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I've never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I think it's an American thing and I can't bring myself to try it. Now Chipotle on the other hand is delicious! lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can't blow up balloons either! Nor can I blow bubbles with bubble gum.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I hate jelly. When we were kids, my mom would have to make peanut butter sandwiches for me, jelly sandwiches for one of my brothers, and PBJ sandwiches for the other. Poor woman.
I fully admit, I fall asleep while reading sometimes. Has nothing to do with how much I love the book, but sometimes the tiredness just hits me like a truck when I'm finally laying down, still, focusing on one thing for more than 2 minutes. Never fallen asleep upright though, that's creepy and weird.
I've never heard of dogs living outside! We always of course took our dogs outside for walks and potty and exercise and everything but they lived in the house. I've heard of outdoor cats though that just come and go as they please.
I haven't done a lot of things, and until last year when Jessi mailed me a box I hadn't eaten a Twinkie. Never been skiing either... but I couldn't live without Mexican food, you totally lose me there! I <3 Chipotle.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't think I've ever had a PB&J either. I've skied a few times and am "meh" about it. Chris keeps wanting to go, and I keep telling him he can go ski, and I'll save the money by reading by a fire while he's skiing! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I do fall asleep when reading, but I think it's because I normally lay down when I'm reading in bed instead of sitting up. And then I have dreams about the books and I sometimes I can't remember what happened. I think this needs to change lol! And I've never skied either! Chris is dying to go, but I think that I'll just go with him and sit at the bar and read and drink. I'm scared that I'll end up running into a tree or something when I try to ski for the first time!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've never had inside dogs until Peyton. Apparently there are people who think this is inhumane...what? I know for a fact that Peyton would rather spend all of her time outside than in our apartment.

So...bee stings. One time, I was running and all of a sudden, I got this sharp stabbing pain in my foot, just below my ankle. I stopped, pulled off my shoe AND sock and found a bee inside! How does that even happen!?

    ReplyDelete
  52. NO PB&J EVER? :( I think you and I may be the only two living in this country who haven't seen Saturday Night Live, and I for one, feel like I'm probably not missing anything. I also don't understand how anyone can sleep while sitting up or reading. Just, how?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I hadn't eaten Chipotle until college! It was super awesome because I could pull that out every time we played never have I ever. I also hadn't dyed my hair until college and I always used that one. Now I've had it like three times. I've never been stung by a bee and I've never skiied OR snowboarded. Or watched a whole episode of SNL. Random skits on YouTube a few times, but that's it. Another blogger has NEVER seen an episode of Friends. EVER. I was so torn between saying she absolutely has to watch it and telling her not to just because that is probably the weirdest thing I've ever heard.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Can you tell I copied and pasted a sentence because I thought it'd make more sense? "Now I've had it like three times" was supposed to be after the part about Chipotle...

  54. I love me a good book and have been reading since Im a tot, but i can totally fall asleep reading. In fact I often read before bed ... so its a thing! I cant remember the last time I had a peanut butter and jelly...

ps its common here to have outside dogs. Only small dogs would ever dream of being indoors here.

On point with everything else haha

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have never been skiing either and I live in upstate NY.. Snow and me just don't get along if you get my drift.. To cold and ick! At least you've done other snow activities lol

    ReplyDelete
  56. Great list.
The sleeping thing...I'm the exact opposite. I can sleep anywhere, anytime. I pretty much read myself to sleep every night.
Male cat. We went for 2 females; (as you know) came home with 2 males and a female. I'd never had a cat before this. Now, I can't imagine my life without them.
Your last (oddest) confession reminds me a little of something that I can't do: operate a cigarette lighter. Never have been able to. When a candle needs to be lit, I gotta find the matches.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ahh what a cool post idea! SNL is classic stuff, I don't watch every episode, but when I do watch its so entertaining. I'm with you about the twinkles, no thanks. chipotle is incredible. and I was raised on PB&J's. that must not be a thing in Australia. you guys are into vegemite right? my brother lived in Australia for a while and brought some back. It's got a interesting taste to it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. These kinds of posts are my fave - people are all so unique and different!! The PB&J one gets me though - but that's what I grew up on so it seems so normal!

    ReplyDelete
  59. The balloon one makes me laugh. I just think it would be funny to see. Fish tacos are my favorite kind, with some red cabbage slaw type of deal.
I've only been stung once and it was by a yellow jacket and it was because I leaned on it, so that doesn't count.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Same with the PB&J. Disgusting. I've never been stung by a bee at all!

I avoided SNL for a long time. Now we watch it every week. I don't find half of it funny, but sometimes there's some pretty good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I almost always fall asleep reading! That may be why I have such a hard time finishing books, haha. Your pet situation is the total opposite of mine - my dogs have always been indoor, and I've only ever had male cats! And growing up I always had girl dogs so I was always backwards from the dog = boy, cat = girl stereotype. Obviously now I have a boy dog but still no girl cat.
And oh man I love Mexican! I'm not the world's biggest Chipotle fan (like some people are seriously obsessed)....I like it but I'd rather just go to a Mexican restaurant tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ok I had never been stung by anything...bee, wasp, nada...until I was in Paris this summer. We were sitting outside at a restaurant while at Versailles and a bee totally stung me. Everyone freaked out because I told them I had never been stung and so didn't know if I was allegoric or not. I wasn't but still. That's a good memory.

Also I had never had a male cat until this year and let me tell you...IT IS SO DIFFERENT! Girls are laid back and relaxed and prefer to just watch, but male cats are so weird. Brady runs around all the time making these growling noises, he knocks over everything, and can be so needy. It's been an adjustment for sure.

This post was way fun! May have to join in next week! :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I haven't skied either! One day I would like to though :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. The balloon one is pretty unique. I've never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich either.

    ReplyDelete
  65. "I stepped on one once, I'm sure he was not expecting that." Bahahahahah!
I'm honestly shocked by 90% of these!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm sure most people have never intentionally been stung by a bee - they only sting if they absolutely have to. Wasps on the other hand are evil and sting for fun.

I've never been skiing either and I lived right next to a ski region in Austria for 10 months!

    ReplyDelete
  67. If I could have Chipotle and pb&j sandwiches for every meal ever, I'd be a pretty happy camper. Totally with you on those pirate ship rides, I did do it once but never again. HATE it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Whatttttt?! To the majority of this list lol. They all apply to me except like 3 of them. No PB&J? If I read before bed I always start dozing off and end up hitting myself in the face with the book lol.

    ReplyDelete
  69. So many of these things are crazy town to me....but the pb&j one thew me for a loop! Seriously, EAT ONE! No grape jelly though. Gotta be strawberry.
