Also, I discovered I was turning 29 in a leap year, which means there were 29 days in February (in case you didn't know what a leap year was). So I was turning 29 in a month with 29 days. How often does that happen? (Christy was actually 29 in Feb as well!) It was like fate telling me to treat myself during the whole month. You can't ignore fate, kids. So I did 29 things, some small, some big, all made for a fabulous birthday month. In no particular order:
1. New bag. Only just ordered it, so it hasn't arrived yet. I loved my justfab bag that I bought 2 years ago and have been trying to replace it but haven't found one as good yet.. hopefully 3rd time's a charm!
2. First facial! Not gonna lie, it was a bit awkward and weird but my skin feels like a baby's butt.
3. New work pants. I've been wanting a new pair of work pants for ages, so I went to express and got 2 new pairs. I tried on a bunch of other things, I love their dresses but they are always too short.
4. Pedicure. It's been a long time..
5. Pretty new book.
6. Dinner with the girls at my favourite restaurant.
7. Sangria & alfredo at olive garden, yum.
8. Ice cream.
9. Half price books shopping spree.
10. Milkshake.
11. Spoke to my mummy & nana. Can I get a hallelujah for technology. Unfortunately, neither of them are savvy enough to do the video call, but no matter. Voice is good!
12. Lunch with KC & in laws at my second favourite restaurant (Indian).
13. Got my hair did. Walked in 'meh', walked out fabulous.
14. Movie and lunch date. KC and I rarely do 'dates' but sometimes we will catch a movie and breakfast or lunch.
15. Stitch Fix! Because why not. I only kept one dress, you can see the rest of the 'fix' here.
16. Hot chocolate. Extra whip.
17. Got the budget bytes cookbook. Mum got this for me, but whatever, it counts.
18. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! I thought I took a photo of my movie ticket but I mustn't have saved it, so here is a pretty poster instead.
19. Jimmy johns. Don't judge me.
20. New kindle. I was always on the 'basic as basic can be' kindle train, but this was only $40 and it's so much easier to navigate. I don't really use it as a proper tablet, but for an e-reader I absolutely adore it.
21. Bought the BBC version of Emma on DVD because.. treat yo self.
22. Chocolate milk. Judgement free zone you guys.
23. Owl crate. This isn't something I'd sign up for regularly, but I loved getting it for my birthday. Cats not included.
24. Spent hours in a black hole of youtube... ended with this video... you should watch it. Skip to 3:20. This counts. Believe me.
25. Bought this hot tools thingy. Have yet to attempt using it.
26. Cake.
27. Kitty mug.
28. Fried rice is always a good idea, but especially during birthday month.
29. Started drinking soda again. Whatever, leave me alone!
So most of the treating myself has to do with shopping or eating. I'm down with that.
29 days of treating myself and I think I now need to detox / stop shopping for like a year. Here's to 29!
Birthday month is totally the month to TREAT YO SELF and I think you did a pretty fabulous job. Woohoo extra whip and Skype with the mama and nana. Your hair looks pretty fab too!
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely perfect way to celebrate your birthday! Love your new bag and pants and your hair looks amazing! I really need to get a facial this year... I always come out looking like a tomato though! Happy Monday! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

ReplyDeleteyour champagne birthday is worth celebrating a whole month! actually, now that i did it myself, i am going to be celebrating my birthday month because yolo and everyone should do it!
ReplyDeletedidn't your skin feel just so amazing after that facial? i'm doing a facial once a month because #oldhagproblems but my aunt has been doing once-a-month-facials for years and even though she's in her late 60s, she looks like she's in her late 40s.

ReplyDeletexoxo cheshire kat
That is how to do birthday month! How was Red Queen? I am considering sucking up and paying full price for it, I loved the first book in the series.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing people post about the used books they bought, it's a sign I need to get myself to the used book store!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Skype for talk to my sister, texting is okay but getting to see her even when she can't be in the US is awesome. My daughter asks to Skype with Aunt Karen all the time!
I need a hair cut desperately, your hair turned out fabulous!
Sounds like an AWESOME month! Your skype session hit home for me-- my mom facetimes and usually I only see her forehead! She can't "see" the screen to let me see her. So silly! That stitch fix dress is AMAZING on you, your facial turned out great, and love your hair!! Seems like your 29 in 29 was a great success!! Make today work, Rachel -CubicleCouture
ReplyDeleteSo many fun things! I actually had my first facial last year. I was contacted and got one for free to review on my blog so I figured why not...now I wish I could get one all the time! They also gave me a mini massage whilst the masks were doing their magic. Amazing but they're so expensive :(
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks FANTASTIC.
ReplyDeleteYay for 29 treats for your 29th year!! I've seen that cat mug in HomeGoods and I always think of you. :) LOVE the hair! What did you think of P&P and Zombies?
ReplyDeleteI love this! Honestly, I was thinking of doing the same thing since March is my birthday month but then I scrolled through you pics and realized I do a lot of those things regularly. Now I feel like a spoiled bitch! Hahahahah! Maybe I should have a deprive myself month!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing! I was just thinking, "I should do that" and then I realized I have had no spending boundaries in February at all, so... maybe not. I won't have any money left by then! I also just realized that I'm also turning 29 this year, which is crazy. It's not too late to have a quarter life crisis, right?
ReplyDeleteGirl - every day should be full of treating yourself :) Life's too short....
ReplyDeleteLove all the fun goodies & looks & buys.. .all of it.
How magical is a salon where you do walk in meh & walk out FAB... its so amazing!

ReplyDeleteUm, I wish I would've thought to treat myself to 27 things for my 27th birthday this past Saturday (which, was on the 27th. :) ) But, I guess going to Disney for a week counts. You treated yourself to some great stuff, I can't wait for you to try to use the hot brush!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! What a great idea. I love 29 treats for your 29th bday! You have gorgeous hair!!
ReplyDeleteSo many things to say about this post, I don't know where to start!!!! 1. Glad you had a great birthday month! Mine is in March and I just may have to steal this from you! 2. You were 100% correct when you said we have similar taste in books. I really liked the Red Queen and just found out that the sequel is for sale at Target. 3. That bag in that box is perfection, I think I would like it even more if it was shirt though. 4. What did you think of P&P&Z?????? 5. I need that cat mug. 6. Your hair look great!
ReplyDeleteOk I guess that's it. Happy Monday! :)
This is such a good idea! I'm all for treating myself.. like a lot haha. Jimmy Johns is like the best thing ever and same with fried rice :) I've never gotten a facial but that's something I do want to do sometime.
ReplyDeleteShopping or eating is exactly what counts as a treat for me too, no shame. Is the budget bytes cookbook any good? I love a good cookbook. Satisfies both my shopping and eating cravings :)
ReplyDeleteAlso let me know how the hot air brush magical thingo goes - does it make your hair look post-hairdresser fabulous?!
These are the kind of splurges that I can get around! Love all of this! So many fun things. I especially love the hair appointment, the food and the drinks because that's just all the things I like. I've never had a facial but baby's butts are pretty dang smooth so that's a good rec. ha! Glad you had such a fun month of celebrating yo'self!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea so much! It's such a fun way to celebrate you without going too over the top! I'm turning 29 next month, so I might have to steal this idea and do 29 fun things in March!
ReplyDeleteSoda is just too hard to quit!!! I never judge when it comes to chocolate milk or anything else awesome, like Jimmy Johns. And your hair looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve all of this and MORE! What a fun coincidence that you are 29 in February on a Leap Year. You got some great stuff. And I totally skipped to 3:20 on the MD video and thoroughly enjoyed myself! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's all so awesome! I'm thinking I need to remember Birthday Treat Yo'self for November for me. Do I go with 30 for the # of days or 4X for the number of years? This is a judgment-free comment -- so treat yo'self! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday month! I love this so much. I'm a firm believer in big birthday celebrations, no matter what the age! Birthdays in my family always seem to last a solid month, haha.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I celebrate birthdays in February too
I love how your 29 weren't all there crazy big purchases.. but small pleasures too like a hot chocolate
Welp. It was a bad idea for me to read this post just before lunch because now I'm hungry and I want sushi and Indian and a milkshake and shrimp linguine. Can't wait to see how you like your new bag and really, for treating yourself for you birthday month you were very reasonable!
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I call a birthday month! All that amazing food, a facial, new clothes, a new bag, love it all <3
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
Matt Damon's got some mooooves! Love this post. Will have to remember this for my birthday! Happy birthday!!
ReplyDeleteThat version of Emma is my favorite thing of all time. I could watch it every dang day. I love it so much.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm hungry and want to get my hair done just like yours.
Can I just also order up one of everything you did to treat yo'self because I pretty much love it all?! Although, I did get a little lost on Matt Damon video for a minute... why is he so beautiful?! :)
ReplyDeleteBlah. My first comment got lost.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, my birthday is next month & I think I may just follow suite with this whole Birthday Month thing. Sounds like the perfect excuse to treat myself! Sushi, shamrock shakes & a massage are already on the list. But I'll just go ahead & add sangria as well. :)
I am in love with this! Looks like you did a fantastic job living it up! I bought myself a kate spade for my birthday this month and it makes me smile every time I see it! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat was quite the birthday month!!! And why is there no link to that kitty mug?! I need that in my life!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea. The new bag you got is gorgeous & I want all the milkshakes/ice cream/whipped cream! :) What do you think of the Budget Bytes book? I've been thinking of getting it!
ReplyDeleteJust bought that same exact Kindle! I'm loving it so far!
ReplyDeleteFantabulous way to have a birthday month. You know that I often poke fun at myself for being old in the blogosphere? Well, well, well, when it's my birthday month, I get to treat myself to even more things! Hooray! (because I'm totally stealing yours and steph's idea)

ReplyDeleteShopping and eating are my favorite ways to treat myself too! Oh man I love Matt Damon. That video made me laugh out loud. I want to be friends with him.
ReplyDeleteMy 'golden birthday' is in October (26 on the 26th) so I'm thinking maybe I should treat myself 26 times...
What a way to celebrate! Happy birthday to you.

ReplyDeleteUmm talk about the best month ever. I did not know that there is a Budget Bytes cookbook!! I want! Love her recipes. And now I want Jimmy Johns!
ReplyDeleteYES!! So many treats and I love it! You deserve it lady!
ReplyDeleteLove that kitty mug - is it off Etsy? I got one that looks exactly the same for my work bff last year for her bday! ;)
Do you watch Parks and Rec? Cory and I are all the time saying "treat yo self" from that show and it just makes me giggle a little. You deserve all these treats! I saw the preview for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies a few weeks ago and thought of you!
ReplyDeleteI love the concept of "treat yo self" (yay for parks and recreation!). I totally believe that every birthday month should include sushi and a pedicure. And welcome to 29!
ReplyDeleteI love the concept of "treat yo self" (yay for parks and recreation!). I totally believe that every birthday month should include sushi and a pedicure. And welcome to 29!
ReplyDeleteThese are all such good ideas, and I'm so glad you celebrated your birthday to the fullest! Also, I'm having a major DOH moment because I totally meant to send you a birthday card but this month has been so stressful I haven't had my head on straight so I'm SO SORRY <3 <3 <3 Also, thank you for the Matt Damon video. From the bottom of my heart.
ReplyDeleteFew of these will be on my list for my birthday month. Such a good idea for a post. Turning 29 in a month with 29 days is so cool. That Kitty Mug is adorable.
ReplyDeleteAw yay! This is amazing!! I want an excuse to bday month for myself... hmmmm .... I am definitely hardcore prepping for KC's Bday week... which now sounds WAYY Lamer than bday month... but I'm still stoked! :P I love the owl crate, I love your cat mug and bottle, It's all so swanky! I did have a lovely time treating myself in Texas. And we were still amazeballsingly (yep I went there) under budget. Yeehaw. LOL Last summer I was at the airport in Seattle really close to my bday (on the way to AK) and our gate changed but we noticed it like 15 min ahead of boarding. Sadly, SO SADLY!, there was a Julep manicure station right. by. the gate. I could have had my very first REAL manicure at a Julep station... for my bday. SOBS. Oh well. I survived. Happy bday month!!! Also, my BFF is now in Taipei... she uses the viberr app. Have you tried that with your fam? I dunno how it even works just thought I would mention! XO - Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
I love this idea! 29 days of treating yourself for birthday month! I haven't had a pedicure in ages. You are inspiring me to treat myself! :)
ReplyDeleteThis all looks AMAZING. You did birthday month RIGHT!! :) I need that budget bytes book in my life... we spend way too much on groceries. And maybe that mcflurry too! YUM!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh girl look at you! You did amazing! I spent the first half of the month complaining about how cold it was so you took the month way better than I did! I love your Stitch Fix dress! SO cute! Oh and pedicures...I don't think I've gotten one since my wedding...18 months ago. =/
ReplyDeleteI love that you went all out for your birthday month! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe kitty mug is adorable, and I'm excited that you got the Budget Bytes cookbook! I also love that so much of your "treat yoself" stuff was food related. Haha. We don't do a lot of stuff for birthdays in our house (I know, I know), but we always treat each other to a really nice meal out. I feel like I always just want good food and nothing else anyway. Haha.
29 things for your 29th year in a month with 29 days = definitely fate! Treat yo self to ALLLLL the things! I like this idea. It's like going out of your 20's with a bang! I'm going to be 29 this year and I'm bummed I can't celebrate with drinks. So maybe I'll do like you and enjoy all the shopping and all the foods.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this post, but now I want to be annoying and comment on every single thing, haha. Pretty sure I mentioned a book haul in one of your more recent posts and you had already posted the books here- oops! I just started reading Red Queen and am into it, but not sure at the same time! I don't drink regular milk but I loooooove chocolate milk-- owl crate always looks so fun, do you think it was worth it? Anyway, I'll end this now, but it definitely looks like a successful birthday month!
ReplyDeleteEatery franchising is spreading out! Until generally as of late, pizzas, burgers, curries, chips and seared chicken were the staple admission connected with eatery establishments. Taking after on from this, themed sustenance turned into the request of the day, with Chinese, Japanese and Italian menus besting the prevalence graphs. Restaurant's birthday treat, maybe
ReplyDeleteSo many hilarious/great things to comment on. I don't even know what to say. That bag is fly, tho. And I miss Jimmy Johns. And I still love the chevron stripe dress on you.
ReplyDelete
