Hello, my name is Kristen and I am still an overpacker at heart.
Sure, I can make 50 outfits for a 2 week trip, but faced with only a week to pack for... I will still fill that suitcase up. I justified it by telling myself that I didn't know what the weather would be like, we were doing multiple things requiring multiple outfits, I had the room in my suitcase, it would stop me from shopping.. etc etc etc. I can create an excuse for anything. All that to say, I definitely 'over-packed' for this trip, I could have packed less, but I like to look different each day and if I have the room.. why not, right?
Anywho. So. Disney World / Universal for about a week in November. Here's what I packed:
Black shorts / Blue printed shorts (actual are from TJ Maxx) / Black & blue jeans
Backpack / Sneakers / Flats / Flip flops
The above links are affiliate links, meaning if you click, I get like 2 cents and you support my shopping addiction so thank you! Also, at time of writing this post, everything was under $50 because that's how I roll, except for the nikes because they are nikes.
These are the outfits I planned:
5 park days, 2 casual grown up outfits, 1 fancy ish dress just in case. I wore everything except the maxi. I didn't pair the cardigan with any of those outfits, but I had it in my backpack and used it at one point every single day. I never needed anything warmer, so that was good. I also wore jeans instead of shorts one day (hogwarts alumni), but ended up walking back to the hotel to change when it got hotter. We went straight on the water rides after that, so no photos. Here are the few (accidental) outfit photos I did get:
It was beautiful weather while we there, only rained once that I can recall and it was right after we got off the water rides so we didn't mind. It rained the day we were leaving, as well.
I know that packing posts aren't everyone's cup of tea, and they are so subjective, because everyone is different yadi yadi yada, but when I look at packing posts (which is way more often than it should be), I don't look to copy exactly, I look to get ideas, and to see what other people wear to certain places, to gauge the weather etc. I don't think everyone is as weird as me in that respect, but anyway. That's why I like packing posts.
Also, real life part of this post. I had planned what I wanted to pack (months ago), but work was insane the week we were leaving (because we were moving) and I was so frazzled that I didn't pack until the night before which might not be a big deal to anyone, but I normally pack weeks / months in advance
Happy Monday everyone, hope you had a good Thanksgiving weekend!
Girl, you are always SO ON POINT with these posts. Seriously! I need to you to come pack for me for our next big adventure, okay? The disney tanks are soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you packed the perfect stuff for your trip! Cute and comfy!!
ReplyDeleteSo organized! I love the hogwarts alumni shirt and everything looks so comfortable!
ReplyDeleteLove that pic of us in front of the Orlando Eye, and that gray top of course! And you already know I'm a huge fan of the HP tees <3

Being rushed and packing is what gets me everytime too! We're headed to NYC this weekend and I just know that I'm going to be in a similar situation and over packing because of the weather. And you seriously are life goals for me as far as packing everything in a carryon! I'm totally using your Europe posts for our Europe trip next year!
ReplyDeleteyou did a great job packing! love all the cute tanks you had! i hate rushing to pack but i only pack max 2 days before. usually because by the day before, i realize i had forgotten some things and then remember last minute :) easy peasy :) so glad we met too!!

Love all the shirts! Especially the Harry Potter ones :)
ReplyDeleteI still want your Little Mermaid shirt, so stinking cute! You are seriously the best packer! I wish I was as organized as you are. I hate packing though so I always rush to do it and inevitably always forget something. <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Love the versatility in all your picks!
ReplyDeleteThemed t-shirts are the way to go when it comes to Disney! But I can't pack super far in advance... the earlier I pack, the more things I think I need to add to my suitcase before we leave. Never a good thing!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all your Disney shirts! And Harry Potter. I was wasting a bajillion hours on Pinterest this weekend looking at HP jokes and I think I need to reread the books. They're calling to me.
ReplyDeleteYou have excellent packing skills because whenever I pack to go anywhere I end up bringing way too much stuff. I'm loving all of the Harry Potter/Disney tanks you brought, that's very appropriate for Disney :)
ReplyDeletelove those cute tanks!! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteWell, I sure like/appreciate this post so I can get an idea of what to bring when we head to Disney in February (we booked everything last night! Wee!) I totally need to pick up a few Disney tanks/shirts, yours are adorable.
ReplyDeleteSo cute... you went perfectly for each park.
ReplyDeleteI think I could buy for you now - I can see your style in clothes when I shop now :) haha
Ahhh I need that Hogwarts tank! You did an awesome job packing - I either overpack or never bring enough. Some day I'll find the balance.
ReplyDeleteYour packing is always spot on! Come help me pack for Europe?!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing all of your Disney shirts!!! I love your packing outfit posts because it gives me inspiration on how many different outfits I can make out of pieces that I have. And reminds me that a carry on is basically possible for nearly any trip!! I worked with a carry on when I was on my work trip to Orlando back in September.
ReplyDeleteI love all the tops, totally fits the location and super cute. Great job packing!
ReplyDeleteI love your packing posts! Love all your outfits, perfect for Disney!
ReplyDeleteSending this to my sister - they are headed to disney for x-mas and my mom said it's still rather hot down there!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at what a good packer you are. Me? Not so much because I'm so indecisive and can never tell what the weather will be like etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteI try so hard to be a good packer, but I am such an overpacked too! But you did a great job of planning things out - it seems like it really did help! Also, you are taking me back - Eric and I went to Orlando in November a few years ago for our anniversary and it was so awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love your packing posts! And your outfits! Can I just be you?!? :) Those tanks are too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your Disney and Harry Potter shirts! So cute!
ReplyDeleteGod, I'm a horrible overpacker too. Just awful. But this is a great assortment of items for your destination!!! Really cute and festive and stylishly fun. Who gets sick of packing posts? I think they're awesome.
ReplyDeleteI think you know which one of these shirts is my favorite...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI am the WORST when it comes to packing. I always play the damn "what if?" game. Like, no, Amanda... you haven't worn that backless shirt since 2004 - I highly doubt you're going to have a chance to wear it camping. And you shouldn't even if you do. lol
I LOVE your packing posts and will continue to come back to them whenever I try to tell myself that I NEED to pack all the clothes. I don't need to pack all the clothes. Maybe I'll channel you for our upcoming trip home for Christmas. Week trip in a carry-on---let' do this! And by let's, I mean me. Unless you want to come pack for me.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adored all your disney apparel! Subtle but perfectly on theme! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThose tanks are adorable!
ReplyDeletei loved seeing the tanks you wore on your snaps!! great list of stuff to pack.
ReplyDeleteI happen to love packing posts - and I don't even travel. I don't even like travel, I avoid it at all costs. What is wrong with me that I feel the need to look up every packing post ever?!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I've never been to either. We skipped it in July. It was a billion degrees and I don't really like rides much. We decided to head out to the atlantic side of the ocean while KCs family went. It was much needed not with everyone else in the world time.... MUCH NEEDED. ;) I would like to go sometime, definitely in a cooler month!! Hope you had a blast! XO -Alexandra

I don't even travel that much (as you know) but I have to tell you I also love packing posts! And I loved reading your reasons why you love packing posts. For me, it just appeals to my organizational needs and it makes packing seem not-that-difficult when it's all laid out and organized like this. I'm always impressed with the work that you put into these! Loved seeing your theoretical vs. real life outfits.
ReplyDeleteBig fan of packing posts, so you just keep on keepin' on! I love all the themed tanks. I would think that would make packing for and taking a trip like this super fun!
ReplyDeleteThose Nikes! And those shirts! I need that solemnly swear shirt :)
ReplyDeleteI like packing posts in a "skim now, read intensely later" kind of way, so I like to pin them for future planning :) you're always looking out for Future Me!
We are horrible about packing the night before. We did that for our New Mexico trip (that I still haven't bothered to recap, ugh), and I'm sure we'll be doing that for our upcoming Christmas trip to visit my family. I hate doing that because you're absolutely right ... You end up rushed and stressed and just wind up throwing in a bunch of crap that you probably won't even use. I think the only times I've ever used everything I packed was on our big NYC/Europe trip last year (because we were gone for almost 2 weeks) and when I went to China back in 2007 (because I was gone for about 3 weeks). So basically I'll only wear everything I pack if I'm going to be gone for a significant amount of time. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI do like reading these, though. It gives me ideas about ways I can pack more efficiently. Now, whether I actually use these tips in the future remains to be seen.
You rock socks off travel packing but Ive said this several times. Oh btw you know I totes pinned this.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Universal soon and I am SO excited! Checking out those HP tanks! :)
ReplyDeleteTotally with you - I like to see what people take for many reasons...one of which is to remind myself of how little I actually need.
