Happy & Thankful Lately

Sometimes I like to write random posts about things that have made me happy recently, or that I am thankful for. So that's what today is.

The butter chicken sauce that I love is normally $4 a jar and it makes 2 meals for me. We went to Kroger the other day and it was $1.99 so I bought 9. I would have bought 10, but they only had 9. KC was like WTF and I was like OMG MY BUTTER CHICKEN SAUCE IS ON SALE and I was dancing in Kroger and everyone was looking at me like I was crazy but no shits were given. None.

This sweater. I mean, it's amazing.

it has zippppppps
The last few Sundays, I have been running with an old running buddy. It makes life (or, um, running) so much easier and I genuinely enjoy it. I wish we could run together every day.

That gif will never not make me laugh.

My mum was sick the other day and didn't go to work, which means she didn't respond to my emails (we email every day) so I randomly called her and we got to chat for a few minutes. For a second it was like, I could close my eyes and pretend there wasn't an ocean in between us, and I could just run and give her a hug. I need to call her more often, it always makes me happy.

One of my favourite things is to be able to say 'next month I am doing / going to xyz'. Now I can say 'next month, we are going to Disney World!'.

I have already completed like 90% of my christmas shopping. I think I started in July. I need to get a couple of bottles of wine and gift cards and that is it.

I worked out EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.THIS.WEEK. (so far, Saturday and Sunday are up in the air).

Snapchat. Yeah I know it's another doodad and if you hate it, that's cool. If you are on it, add me @kristenlees122 so I can add you back! Warning: lots of cat snaps.

^^ Cats make me happy. Always.

These might be silly little things, but they make me happy and remind my pessimistic self to be thankful a little more often. Life is too damn short not to be happy.

What has made you happy or thankful lately?

  1. Just added you on snapchat! I love that you bought 9 jars. Also, I wish I could wear a sweater but I am currently nursing a horrendous sunburn from standing outside for a few hours today. Why is the Australian sun so intense!? Maybe you should add that to your reasons not to visit...

  2. HAHAHA I love the butter chicken story! Hilarious! And now I really want to try it if you love it that much. Yay for Disney! I'm going next Friday :) And good for you for working out every day this week, jealous! I had zero motivation. Happy Friday girl! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  5. So exciting that you have Disney to look forward to! And I'm so happy for you that you got a chance to talk to your mom on the phone for a bit this week--I'm sure that must have been a bright spot for the week for sure :)
Hope you have a great weekend!

  6. Ahaha that's exactly what I'd have done with the butter chicken. Complete with mortified husband! Brilliant. I'm impressed with your Christmas shopping - I have done 0% and now seriously feeling like I need to get my bum in gear. Added you on snapchat! I can live out my wish for a pet vicariously through you :)

  7. That cat video is great! I, too, am impressed that you are almost finished Christmas shopping. I haven't even thought of the words "Christmas" and "shopping" until now! LOL! Have a great weekend!

  8. I can't believe that you're almost done Christmas shopping! I've just barely started and I know that I'll be scrambling when it gets closer to Christmas! I would've done the same thing if I saw the sale on a major product that we cook with all the time, it's worth it to stock up if you save that much money. I'm so jealous of your trip to Disney and I can't wait to see all the exciting things that y'all do!

  9. UM, done with Christmas shopping?! Or almost done, but still. WHAT? You can do all the mic drops for that. High five. I have not started to even thnk about Christmas shopping so I will not be dropping any mics.

  10. Added you on Snapchat :) I love these random favorites, and I'll have to look for that butter chicken sauce. Sounds good if you bought 9 of them!!

  11. Dude, whatever makes you happy is the best! I am on snapchat, so I'll add you but I'm not good at it. I love that you got to talk to your mom and can't imagine being an ocean away. I only have my mom left to get a gift for and then I'm done, too! COngrats! Also, Disney!!!

  12. I'm pretty much done with my Christmas Shopping as well! I like to get it done early so I'm not rushing. Plus I can put more thought into it if they're all spaced out. Can't wait for you to get to Disney!

  13. Aw I'm glad you got to chat with your mom for a bit! And I laughed out loud about the butter chicken sauce stock up--I would have done the same thing!

  14. I hate you. For multiple reasons. 1. you're going to Disney. 2. you're almost done with Christmas shopping.
ok - I don't really hate you but I'm looking at you through jealousy goggles

  15. Yay! Your trip to Disney next month is so exciting! I wanna go back there again one of these days. And great job working out every single day this week, I thought I would do that but I only ended up going to the gym twice, whoops.

  16. I get far too excited when something I love is on super sale, so I completely understand your excitement!

  17. LOL at Phoebe, I've always felt I probably look like her when I try to run! And yay for talking to your mom, and for being almost done with Christmas shopping, I only just started so you're officially the champion! Oh and just added you on snap gurlie! Happy Friday <3

  18. Posts like thes make me happy, because it means people are happy and grateful and we need more people like that in the world. I go crazy when good things are on sale, did I blog about the 30 cans of Pole Caught tuna we bought last year because they were half off?!?!? Oh yeah, still have em!

I love the running gif and the gilmore girl gif, those are two of the bests out there.

    WOOHOO DISNEY! SO EXCITING!

  19. I have started Christmas shopping. I hate waiting until the last minute. I like it to be mostly done by Thanksgiving. So I can actually enjoy the holiday and not stress.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Please tell me what you got everyone for Christmas. I need a quick list. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good job on your workouts! GET IT GIRL!!! Also I love that you used an Archer gif. Hooray for Disney and running buddies and honey chicken sauce! Actually, I made a honey curry sauce with chicken and chickpeas this week that was freaking amazing. So if it's anything like that, I can totally understand buying 9 jars.

  22. Oh so jealous that you are going to Disney World. You are going to have so much fun. I'm so glad you got to talk to your Mom. I know it must be hard to be so far from her. Hope you have a great weekend.

  23. ohh wow im so impressed that you are almost done christmas shopping! i used to be like that... then baby. hahah i havent bought anything yet!! time to get to it. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  24. It's amazing how just a few small things like sauce on sale and a trip to Disney can change your whole mood.

Good for you on the running (I don't run but the husband and I go walking 2-3 times per week and it definitely is better when you go with someone else. And by better, I mean it goes faster.

  25. I don't even know what butter chicken sauce is (sauce for chicken or consisting of it? Where does butter fit in?) but chicken and butter are two of the good things in life, so I think your dancing was well justified. However, sadly we cannot be friends because anyone who runs deliberately without being chased by a bear is alien to me ;-))

  26. LOVING the butter chicken sauce story!! I can totally relate to stocking up on something you love when the time is right...when I was in college, I was obsessed with a specific quesadilla at Chili's and was devastated when they removed it from the menu...the waitress told me they might have more in the freezer, so I bought the remaining 5 frozen quesadillas, put them in my freezer, and slowly ate them over the course of a year. The sad part is, I still miss them (even though they CLEARLY were not exactly made from the freshest ingredients!).

  27. Your post is my favorite! I also stockpile stuff when it is on sale. Last year my favorite chapstick went on sale at Target so I bought all of them. We have a drawer full of unopened tubes and I don't give a fuck. Meanwhile they were only on sale for like a dollar off. I had Taylor with me and she thought I was nuts.

  28. I'm very jealous of your Christmas shopping revelation, Tyson will not let me start. :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. Way to go on your workouts and your Christmas shopping! Dang! I don't have any shopping done, although I did start my Italian cough drops (cherries aged in whiskey) months ago for my homemade gift this year! Happy Friday! GIFs on point as always!

  30. Ummm, I wish I had worked out every day this week -- and please give me that sweater! It looks so cozy!

    ReplyDelete
  31. So, just added you on snapchat and already pre-excited for Disney World snaps. So I'm living vicariously through you. Also please send some of your motivation my way because I succeeded in not working out a single day this week. Total fail. Per usual. Happy Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Always ALWAYS something to be thankful for- silly or serious or big or small! Being able to say Disney is next month is DEFINITELY high on the list ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. You are amazing for being almost done with Christmas shopping. I usually do all of my on the Cyber Monday sales. That sweater looks cozy, and I love that it's so long! I need to get on SnapChat. I've seen a lot of people have it lately. I used to think it was more for younger people because my little brother (who is almost seven years younger than me) has it. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL at that cat gif, that's totally John's dog. Little fat ass. Hooray for Disney world! And Christmas shopping! Usually I'm almost done by now, but not this year. I think I only have 2 things totally done! Yikes.

  37. You know that crocodile is my favorite gif ever right?!?!?!?!? I am going to back myself in your Disney bag, ok?! And yay for you for working out this week. Get it girl!!!!!!!!!! Imma need to get back to being kick ass again. We need to dust off the ahole bro group and get serial. (I say serial when I mean serious quite often. It makes me laugh but probably doesn't come across right here when not in person.) Annddddd I keep forgetting about snap chat. Duh, Nadine! Get snappin'!

  40. Just added you on Snapchat, although I can't say Im the most active user. Looking forward to meeting you while you're in Florida. Did we decide on a date/place? I'm a big fan of butter sauce too and $1.99 is a steal so why not clear the shelves! lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would do the same thing with that sauce haha. Also I think I need to buy butter chicken sauce in general because YUM. I love that sweater too! Zippies are a favorite of mine.

  44. I have snapchat. I get on. I erase. I'm thinking snapchat isn't for me.

I attempt to call my mother every Sunday morning for me (Saturday evening for her). Or Monday morning/Sunday evening. It doesn't happen every single week, but I try. We email. We viber. Sometimes, on viber, we have conversations with emoticons and stickers. That's all. But not everyday.

I went to Disney World when I was a kid. I've been to Disney Land as an adult several times, but not DW. Have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh! I better add you on snapchat to get the cat snaps!

Totally impressed by your Christmas shopping. We actually made a gift budget for the year for the first time so I am wayyyy less stressed about it this year since we already have the money set aside.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You completed 90% of Christmas shopping??? I am clearly failing at life haha Also I have no clue what that sauce is but id do the same!

  51. LOL at the butter chicken sauce story! I would have done the same thing though, and definitely stoked up on the water I like when it was on sale at Target yesterday even though the cashier was looking at me like wtf? HOW did you do so much of your Christmas shopping?! I am so jealous and have not done any-- even though I swore I was going to start early. That Friends gif just made me laugh SO hard, but having someone to run with you really does make it a lot nicer most of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I LOVE this post! It gave me the warm fuzzies just to read it. You're right...life is too short not to be happy. It seems like complaining is a national pastime and it makes for a lot of grumpy, bitter people. And now I need to go check out that sweater!!! ZIPPERS!!! YESSSSS.

    ReplyDelete
  53. lmfao at you buying 9 sauces. This is totally something I would do!!!! That shit won't go bad... BUY THEM ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!
YAY for vacation!!!!! Please take a million pictures of HP world!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, literally a MILLION.
So jealous of your Christmas shopping. I just made my list the other day. Usually I'm done about a month beforehand... I'm IMPRESSED that you're already so far along. Jerk.

  54. I am sooo jealous of your completed Christmas shopping! I always, always wait till the last minute and then hate myself for it, haha. YAY for next months trip to Disney! So excited for you!

  56. So impressed you are almost done with Christmas shopping! I haven't even started...

    ReplyDelete
  57. I did a similar things I'm excited about/happy about post on Friday (as you know, since you commented haha). Sometimes it's nice to think about more positive things, even if it's nothing completely Earth-shattering.

I'm so excited that you guys are going to Disney! I know you love it, so you'll obviously have a blast! :-)

I love finding things on sale that I love, and I always stock up when that happens (as does Eric). Sometimes he makes a grocery store trip and says, "I went a little crazy with the [insert something we buy regularly here], but THEY WERE ON SALE!" Haha.

Great job on the Christmas shopping! I haven't even started. Okay, to be honest, I haven't even thought about what I might buy for anyone. I haven't even thought about what I'm going to buy Eric for our anniversary. That's on November 9. I should probably start thinking about that.

My mom and I have been trying to talk more, even if it's just via text. It's hard when you're busy and have different things going on, but at some point we both realized we hadn't been talking enough and have been trying to change that.

As always, I love your GIFs! I love Gilmore Girls and Friends, so those were especially awesome. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lol over the butter chicken sauce happiness! I probably would've done the same thing, because come on, butter chicken!!!! I need to add you on snapchat asap!

And good for you on all those workouts girl, you're killin' it! Seriously jealous of your Christmas shopping awesomeness; I've done exactly none of my own. Ugh. Have to start soon. Well, I'll start after the marathon haha.

  63. Love the positivity!
Life's always good when you can get your favorite foods at a bargain price.
I like that sweater too. But I'm kind of a big gal so I doubt it'd look near as good on me as it does the model.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Just added you on snapchat but I really have no idea how to use it. I can't believe you are almost finished with your Christmas shopping. I've always admired people who shop early!

  65. Cracking up about the butter chicken! What is the sauce! It sounds delicious.

  66. Cooler weather! Making Invitations and Baby Announcements for people. The support that others have shown for me on social media and by inquiring for things I could make for them. Cats. Books. The usual. :) We had a soup party/game night over the weekend and it was a blast. It had been too long and the soup and company was great. Plus we got to try out two new games that were both hits. I'm a happy camper... and um GILMORE GIRLS COMING TO NETFLIX! OH GOODNESS! Dying. XO -Alexandra
