Fall About Me

Autumn about me doesn't have the same ring to it, so let's go with fall today, shall we? Saw this over at Lolo's place so obviously had to copy cat.

Favourite candle scent — I never used to be big on candles until I moved here and discovered B&BW. I didn't like candles because I thought they were a waste of money and didn't actually make the house smell better - but B&BW's do. I love all of their candles, I don't discriminate. I really like the sweater weather one. So comfy. They need to have a sale, because I'm all out and my house smells like nothing.

bath & body works sweater weather candle

Best fragrance for fall — I'm not really into perfume. The only one I have is Hilary Duff's and it's probably like 5 years old, but I like it every now and again. I do like Victoria Secret's body spray thingys though, I use them year round.

Coffee, tea or hot chocolate? — Coffee. hahaha as if. Hot tea and hot chocolate allll year round kthanks. Obviously, I don't keep whipped cream at home otherwise I would be a bazillion pounds.

Favourite Thanksgiving food — Meh. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate thanksgiving, I eat the food. But I don't understand or like a lot of the dishes, so basically I eat turkey, bread rolls (omfg the ones my MIL buys are aaahhhmazing and so bad) and mac & cheese.

What is the best fall memory you have — I don't have fall memories because we don't really have fall at home (well, we have fall/autumn but we don't have thanksgiving or halloween and our leaves don't change colour or fall, you know what I mean?). Lets see, lets see, lets see. Last year's Halloween party was in the fall and it was pretty awesome, so we'll go with that.

I just want you to know, that is not our fence. K.
Favourite type of pie — apple, duh.

Most worn sweater — remember that Gap sweater with the zips I was talking about the other day? It is SO thick and chunky and I love love love it. It's gonna be so great for winter. I've already worn it a bunch, I meant to show an actual picture the other day but forgot to add it. This one that I sent to my friend like yay or nay is the only one I have, fluro socks, dirty mirror and all. You're welcome. But really. It's amazing.

What is autumn weather like where you live — it is my winter! Seriously. Right now as I am writing this it is 60 something degrees, and winter where i'm from (sydney) is about that. so obviously, it's freezing to me. but. it's supposed to reach high 70s in a couple days so basically I'll be able to take off my winter coat for a few days.

Football games or jumping in leaf piles — curling up on the couch with a book should be an option. I've told you how I feel about stupid leaves.

lol yeah this is what I look like when I read on the couch too.

What song really gets you into the fall spirit — um.

Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged liner — winged liner, I like dark lips but I feel like a child got into her mum's makeup bag.

Is pumpkin spice worth the hype — I have never had a PSL but I generally don't like the way pumpkins are spiced here.. all cinnamony and nutmeggy. Not for me thanks.

Favourite fall TV show — does doctor who count? Lets count it.

Combat boots or Uggs — I tried combat boots and they are not for me. I love my (fake) uggs, KC says I look like a homeless person when I wear them.

Skinny jeans or leggings? — LOL right now leggings because my skinny jeans don't fit (screw you skinny jeans).

Halloween: yay or nay — yay and nay! When we dress up and celebrate, I'm all about it. If we aren't dressing up, I give zero shits. I didn't grow up with it so I don't understand the hype. I bet I would if I had gotten a bunch of free candy though, but as it is I have to buy the candy and then give it away. Why would i do that? I don't want to share my candy.

What do you think about Black Friday? — I think the sales are never as good as people think they are, but the hype gets them. Heck, the hype got KC a new playstation last year. I shop enough year round, black friday doesn't excite me. That's not to say I won't be buying things..

Fall mornings or evenings — in terms of running, afternoons. haha. The evenings are too dark and the mornings are too cold (and dark as well).

One Fall 2015 trend you love — I don't even know what is 'trendy' right now, so we'll go with the plaid cardigan things, and hope that's trendy, because they are super cute. I also want one of those blankets with arms. That is probably the opposite of trendy, isn't it.

Happy Friday all... just kidding, it's Tuesday. Sorry. Do you have a blanket with arms? Wouldn't it come in handy? Sometimes I crack myself up.

  1. Haha love this! We don't really get fall down here but I fake it. And yes, I totally have one of the blankets with sleeves, not even kidding. It's the same color blue too! I rock it all the time during winter and in my office on freezing cold days haha! Totally worth it if you ask me... now if only they had one for your legs too so it would be easier to walk in. <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  4. Loving this--might have to copy this post! :)
I'm a huuuuuge apple pie fan, too...and yes give me all the mac and cheese! B&BW is the best for so many yummy scents!

  5. I really want a blanket with arms! On my shopping list when I go to the states next week is seasonal candles, I miss them!

  6. hahahaha yes this is hilarious! I may have to copy this idea for my blog this week so fun! I always feel like candles are a waste of money but I love them, I may need to try B&BW candles now because I haven't before #ashamed. Totally on the same page with whipped cream...why can't it be 0 calories?

  7. I love this post, haha! I totally want a Snuggy (one of those blankets with arms), so we can go ahead and be un-trendy together. I wish there were good candles here, but so far I haven't found any that I like :(

Also, that kid with the makeup gif? L.O.L. Dead.

  8. Ugh I never understood the appeal of jumping in a pile of leaves. EW GROSS!

  9. Loving that sweater on you gurlie, it looks so comfy yet chic! And yessss to all the B&BW candles <3

  10. This post is great, I love how honest you are about fall and how different it is from where you grew up. I'm a total coffee girl, but gimme all the hot cocoa when it's time to splurge. BTW, my husband keeps like three bottles of whipped cream in the fridge, because it's actually not an AWFUL calorie snatcher. Love the sweater you are wearing, I might have to snap it up, maybe, if my wallet allows me too, haha.

I think you could totally rock a dark lip, it's all about finding the PERFECT shade for you. Where do you buy leggings? I'm in the market for some new ones.

    A WIZARD, you're a wizard HARRY!

  11. Seriously can BB&W have another sale already? Growing up we were always obsessed with the lotions and body washes, but now I can't get enough of their candles and soaps! And I totally agree with you about Black Friday. Sometimes you can find a good deal, but 9 times out of 10, the stores are just trying to get rid of their old stuff anyways. That being said, we'll be attempting to buy a new washer/dryer this year, so hopefully those will be reasonably priced.

  12. Fun survey :) I love how un-excited you seem about fall and I can understand why if you're from Australia! I grew up in Pennsylvania all my life, so those 2 or so weeks when the weather is in the 50s/60s is incredible. Otherwise it's way too hot and humid or freezing cold. I agree about Black Friday and I will gladly stay home and online shop...sales are much better there and no traffic!

  13. Doctor Who is always acceptable, no matter the question. ;)

If I get my blogging groove back soon, I may copy cat you on this post. (Not likely though)

  14. I totally have a snuggie and it's the best blanket ever. I don't care if it's dorky. It's also leopard print.

    ReplyDelete
  15. A snuggie! We do. I bought them for my sister as a joke, but then we ended up using them a lot. And my roommate just bought one to make into his Halloween costume. (Blue wizard robe - just needs to be sewn up!)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I bought a snuggie once as a "lol" worthy thing and now it's legit one of my favorite things ever. I don't care if I look ridiculous - I'm warm and cozy.

  17. I'm so not a fall person.

The great thing about where we live is there really aren't fall leaves. I can see two trees out my window I know will change eventually but it won't be until the end of November and they're not in my yard so yayyy!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love this! And I love that sweater too!

    ReplyDelete
  19. a blanket with arms, yes! i actually bought one last year because i was freeeeezing at work all the time and space heaters aren't allowed (boo...), so that seemed like the next best thing. it's fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Is Halloween an American thing? If so, I didn't know that.

LOL we have a blanket with arms that I've been trying to get rid of for three years. MFD the hoarder keeps rescuing it from the trash.

  21. I think these were the questions I did in that tag video last year, and we have a lot of the same answers haha. Don't care about thanksgiving food either. I just like potatoes. Also, "my house smells like NOTHING" had me LOLing. I'm trying to conserve my candles too because I'm almost out and I won't buy BBW candles without a sale, so I'm burning all the crappy other candles I've amassed that don't smell as good and it's so annoying. GIMME ANOTHER SALE ASAP, BBW!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think that one day I might go and purchase a snuggy for myself because why not have a blanket with arms? I mean, it would make reading much easier than trying to wrap a blanket up around me. I love BBW candles! Mine is all out as well and my house is sad. Love that Gap sweater you got! I picked witch as my favorite costume.

  23. lolololololol yes. KC explained to me yesterday that if he was a girl he would probably be basic. I asked him why and he said, because I really like Starbucks and Taylor Swift... To which I said, I really like Starbucks and Taylor Swift... do you think I am basic? He says, no, not really. Bahaha he cracks me up. I'm so beyond those labels for myself. I like comfy leggings I like warm uggs... I like starbucks... I don't really care if that's basic.. lol. I never get the whipped cream though, because ditto what you said. XO -Alexandra

  24. lol, I loved this! You word things hilariously! Especially the skinny jeans comment, hahaha.

I could see why Thanksgiving isn't your number 1 if you aren't a native American (no pun intended). It's funny though because my British brother in law always feels like he won the holiday lottery on this day, he just gets so excited to eat, ha.

You look super cute as a witch!!!

And my new building has a hot cocoa machine in the lobby and I really can't stop myself. It's been a STRUGGLE.

  25. Yesss to the blankets with arms. I have one and while it's not trendy, it's the one of the best blankets I own. If your cats are anything like my dogs, they like to be in my lap when I'm on the couch and they always pull the blanket off me. Problem solved when it has arms!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Haha I love this post. I am definitely a "huh" when it comes to all the fall things people go on and on about. My fall clothes are my winter clothes with less layers, I paint my nails whatever color I feel like all year long and my makeup only changes if its day or night.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have the blanket with the sleeves in our house in a Gator football logo. It is the softest thing ever. Marks ex from a million years ago got it for him so he's not allowed to use it....just me. I blog with that hot mess on all the time it's the best.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Our whole family got snuggies one year & I actually love mine during the winter - perfect to knit in & stay warm :) ... god I'm old...
We do the black Friday thing & usually come home empty handed. I just like watching all the crazies

    ReplyDelete
  29. So spot on with the dark lips. Every time I put on lipstick I feel like that kid playing with mom's makeup, and yet I still go out of the house with it on. Kind of a scary thought. It was cool to see this from your perspective since your upbringing wasn't so fall/halloween centric. I mean I don't think I'd like Halloween all that much if I hadn't gotten free candy as a kid, so it all makes sense now. They get us while we're young.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am not a PSL fan either. I love all things Fall though. The candles, sweaters and leggings of course. Not a fan of the shorter days though. The giving away of the candy was too funny but so true, who wants to give it away????

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is a great post! I don't get the PSL obsession either. Love Fall everything!!

  32. I cannot waaaaait for all Halloween decorations/Christmas decorations to be on sale! Including B&BW candles! I love the spring ones the most and always stock up on too many of them, even though we always have a candle burning! It's so strange to me to think someone grew up without holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving since they're some of the best memories I have as a kid! Are there some Australian holidays we don't celebrate here (I'm sure there are!)?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I actually really really want one of those blankets with arms. It would make it much easier to read curled up without having to pull my arms out from under the blanket

    ReplyDelete
  34. You cracked me up --> That is probably the opposite of trendy, isn't it.

I only like the color of fall leaves. Nothing pumpkin unless it's in a pie on Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Love this!!! Might just need to snag it from you soon! I've never gotten in on the Black Friday thing either, it blows my mind that Canadian flock to the states for the sales too! Like border lineups, traffic, store lineups and the fact that our dollar is currently useless?? No thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yay for The Doctor! and I miss candles. Used to use them quite frequently until we brought two kittens into the household. Now I'm scared they'll knock it over or get their whiskers singed. So our house basically smells like whatever I cooked the night before. Bleh.

  37. Oh my goodness, the blankets with arms... my husband has a snuggie. I made fun of him so much when he first told me he wanted one a couple of years ago, but by golly, he and our dog adore that thing. Every morning when I wake up, I walk into our living room and the two of them are snuggled up together in that snuggie, ha! It's kind of adorable so I've quit teasing him about it. ;)

  38. Okay, Walmart has this candle called "mulled cider" and it is DIVINE. best fall candle ever. Thanks for reminding me that I need to buy one(or ten).

How American do I sound if I say I totally didn't realize Halloween isn't a world wide holiday? Lol

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've never been very excited for fall, because in Canada it's cold and I hate cold weather! Here it's been SO warm so far, so I think I can jump onto the fall loving bandwagon lol. I'm obsessed with BBW wall flowers, we have 3 in our apartment and they are all fall/pumpkin scents so as soon as you walk in it smells very festive!

    ReplyDelete
  40. You had me cracking up at most of these. Oh and yes I wish I had a snuggie for my freezing office!

  43. I love everything about this post, but again I could live and die in fall and be happy no matter what the outcome is!

    ReplyDelete
  44. OMG I used to have one of those blankets with sleeves & a)If I still had it I'd send it to you in a heart beat b)they're annoying as hell. You know what works better...a damn sweatshirt & a real blanket...or a robe. That's not me yelling at you by the way... just pent up rage from my stupid knock off snuggie... for real though they aren't as awesome or as effective as one would think.

    Also, stealing this idea! lol

    ReplyDelete
  45. OMG - no joke, Ryan and I got Snuggie's as a joke Christmas gift one year, and now I have NO idea where they are. But, I really would like to find them. I'm cracking up at your "I don't want to share my candy" comment - that is seriously such a valid point. Why should I buy expensive bags of candy and then give it away to bratty children? I may reconsider my tactics this year. :)

I used to love black Friday when I was younger... now I LOATHE it. I won't even leave the house on Black Friday. I just hate people way too much at this point. lol

  49. i love that candle too!! and i want that sweater (jumper!). it looks perfect and the zips! the zips! all me.

  50. I am trying to be a candle person but my husband is super sensitive to smells and complains a lot. Womp Womp. I am with you on the body spray things. I use those WAY more than perfume!

That sweater is adorable!!! LOVE IT!

  51. I feel like I keep learning so much about Australia from you (like the fact that you don't celebrate Halloween). I love it! (That I'm learning, I mean ... Not that you don't do Halloween. Haha.)

My mom and I used to shop on Black Friday every year from the time I was a kid until my senior year of college. We never really felt like we got amazing deals, but it was fun to spend time together (even if the malls were crazy!) and it pushed us to finish Christmas shopping.

Eric and I did the Black Friday thing a couple of years ago because we wanted a Dyson and we knew there was a specific sale going on. We waited in line in the cold starting around 5:00 a.m. (what were we thinking???), but we ended up getting some really awesome deals. We had a few gift cards and managed to get our Dyson for FREE (well, free as in we paid no money of our own), a gift for his parents, and a second smart TV for our guest room for like $300 total. It was amazing.

  52. Such a great, festive post! I'm with you on Thanksgiving and dark lipstick, on me. And I don't drink coffee or anything pumpkin! I got a Snuggie when they first came out and still use it! My husband teases me constantly, but they are genius for reading a book!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I want that blanket with arms so I can read books and be cozy. Where can we buy them? Let's match!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Black Friday is evil. I have no idea why they have it in England when they don't do Thanksgiving here. I'm like "Nooo... you took on the wrong tradition :( " I had no idea there was a "Sweater Weather" candle! Wearing sweaters is my favorite thing about fall, so I think having that candle is only right.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hahaha I do have a snuggie! It's zebra print and I wear it all winter. I hate buying candy just to give it away, so now I hand out Wendy's Frosty coupons. It' not as tempting for me to drive down the road to Wendy's as it is to eat a bag full of candy in one sitting.

  56. Ahhh. I'm totally going to be a copycat and steal this. Sorry, not sorry ;) See, I've always been teased about being a bad American because I dislike so many classic American dishes. Thanksgiving shows people just how picky I truly am. But I love, I'm using the word love right now, green bean casserole. Yum.
