Sometimes
So. Here is a list of things that I do instead of working out.
I sleep in.
Well, most of the time I just lay there, wide awake, hitting the snooze.
I eat. I can't exercise if I'm eating, can I?
Even better if I'm eating bad food or food I'm not supposed to eat, because then I'm killing two birds with one stone - or rather, throwing two stones at one bird - the bird being my health.
I clean.
I have 3 cats you guys. I vacuum a lot. It takes a really long time, especially when Taylor Swift helps me.
I do laundry.
I shop.
Even when I shouldn't.
I play the sims.
I say to KC 'we should do something!' but then have nothing to suggest.
I go to work early.
I think of excuses so that I can skip my workout that day.
Like, I already worked out this
I write posts about not working out instead of working out. I google 'how to get motivation back' instead of getting my damn butt off the couch.
Life is hard y'all. What do you do instead of working out? Or do you have that motivation thing down?
Haha this is me to a tee! If Travis isn't in town to forcibly remove from the bed to work out is most likely doesn't happen or it happens for half the time. Usually my excuse is it interferes with my eating.
ReplyDeleteI cannot stop laughing at these memes!! I like to use quite a few of these excuses too on the days I'm just not feeling a workout. #SorryNotSorry
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA I love this! I always find other things to do instead of going to the gym. And I go after work so it's not like I can find something at home to do because I'm already there. I justify why I need to go home to do something else then go home.

SOOOOO relatable! Ha thank you for this post and know you are not alone hah! I've had these working out goals for a few weeks but yeah, of course I haven't started ughhhh.
ReplyDeleteLinds @ Not A Mom
Hahahahahah!!! This is awesome -- I think everyone has used one (or all) of these excuses at some point. Why work out when you can sleep/eat???
ReplyDeleteIn in the same boat as you this month! As soon as we got back from Hawaii things have been going a million miles a minute and my motivation to work out has been absolutely zero! My biggest thing that I do is coming home after a day at work and pour myself a glass of wine instead of attempting to work out. if only drinking wine reduced my waist size!
ReplyDeleteI have a goal I am wanting to meet by the end of the year and me and one of my friends have this going together so that's my motivation to get up off my butt and MOVE...sometimes it's a lot easier said than done.
ReplyDeleteThese gifs are everything - especially the Betty Draper one and Elaine with her little kicks! I'm so not a morning person so I usually sleep in too, but I'm super proud of myself for getting up early last week and going to Bar Method before work. Will it ever happen again - probably not lol.
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
Haha I love this post (especially Ariel signing the contract!). I am usually much better about working out in the morning instead of after work but all of the best classes at my new studio are offered in the evening...so, the struggle between working out and watching Netflix on my couch is very real!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, lady! I like to sleep instead of working out too, my morning workouts are struggling as of late.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say how much I LOVE the Jungle Book Gif? We quote that quite often in my family!
hahaha i'm the worst person to talk about motivation because i just do it.... in fact, i get anxious when i can't workout. sorry dont hate! LOL
ReplyDeleteOkay, when it comes to working out I love to work out (I'm like Kathy ^^ up there...can't sit still). HOWEVER. I hate running so if I had to run as my workout I would procrastinate too! Have you ever tried any other kinds of workouts (besides yoga). Maybe there is something out there that you might love and would make your motivation click, but you haven't tried it yet??
ReplyDeleteHa yes! I enjoy working out, but I have to be in the mood for it or I have to know that I have time for it!
ReplyDeleteI feel guilty when I don't work out, or even when I have a workout and start to think about skipping it. Plus, I like it when my pants fit, so working out is a must for this food-loving gal!
ReplyDeleteI hate working out and rarely do it. I do anything to avoid it but my favorite excuse is reading a book. It's so good I just can't put it down, or if it's bad I have another that I need to read instead.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I wake up early and read blogs instead of working out... Oops...
ReplyDeleteRather than workout, I try to go to for a walk for an hour everyday. Some days I'm really good about it and other days I'm like oh forget it. I also try to get up early everyday to do a little workout before work. I find if I work out in the morning, I feel better about myself for the rest of the day. As for excuses, I have so many I don't even know where to begin. haha. I have an excuse for everything but I'm trying really really hard to stop it.
ReplyDeleteOMG, The Sims!!! I forgot all about that game! As for working out, if I don't go first thing in the morning, it's probably not happening that day! Unless it's going for a walk, I have to do a few of those a day to tame the dog, haha
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, I'm dying at the Sims photo - that game seriously used to be my jam. Maybe I should revisit it now that I enjoy interior decorating and can build my fake dream home. Instead of working out ... See what I did there? :)
ReplyDeleteI can come up with every excuse in the book!
ReplyDeleteThere's the honesty that I think the majority is going to say, "Yep... me too"
ReplyDeleteHahahaha I love this! I want to sit on my ass and do nothing!!! Netflix is always helpful for allowing that to happen. Your gifs are so freaking perfect here. SO PERFECT!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! The Titus and Liz Lemon gifs are my fave. I just started taking classes at Pure Barre and it's been the best for me, because they make you sign up for the class in advance and fine you if you late-cancel. When I was do the regular gym, I would routinely find excuses - like oh it's cloudy and might rain so of course I need to go home.
ReplyDeletexo, Carly | carly blogs
Hahah... Oh, man, I'm relating to so many of these right now!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, story of my life! I hate working out and just want to Liz Lemon my way through life
ReplyDeleteLet's see, instead of working out I do absolutely anything else. lol! I have ZERO motivation for working out. I have even set the bar really low ... like just going on a 20 minute walk each work day (not even on the weekends) and I cannot even do that!!!! And I'm getting married in 7 months! You would think that would be motivation enough.
ReplyDeletehahah ALL GOOD OPTIONS. Though cleaning is kinda a workout. And I will always watch Elaine Benes dance.
ReplyDeleteMaking the Sims workout instead of actually working out is perfectly acceptable.
ReplyDeleteI used to be so good about working out. And now I'm not. And it generally doesn't bother me until I see all these people loving their workouts and I'm like "oh, I should totally do that" and then Netflix and books happen and then I'm all "well, it's too late today. Maybe tomorrow".
Here's what I do instead of working out: eating lunch instead of working out at lunch, sleep instead of waking up at 5am to workout, and instead of working out at night, I do the dishes, clean the kitchen, read, or blog. My extra poundage can wait.
ReplyDeleteI love that Liz Lemon gif!! I am always coming up with excuses not to exercise so I can definitely relate to this post haha. I'd like to say that my nursing clinicals are my exercise because I am always walking around and helping lift patients...that counts right??
ReplyDeleteMy new excuse is I am waiting for my treadmill to get fix. They are coming on Thursday. Until then eat all the things!!!
ReplyDeleteSpot. Freaking. On. I think we can all relate. I just started back with yoga yesterday and I'm already over it today! It's like, I want to have a 6 pack, hell, I'd even take just no extra flab, but I also want to eat candy all day and pizza every night for dinner...
ReplyDeleteHahahah yes, best post ever!!!!! I love this!
ReplyDeleteIf only the SIMS workout would help you lose weight.
ReplyDeleteThis post is so accurately me during the week. Seriously, every single gif. My big excuse is always "I work all day and then I have to go home and take care of the dogs and give them attention because i've been at work all day and by the time i'm done with that it's like 8PM and it's dark so I can't work out." Thank you for being my lazy soulmate <3
ReplyDeleteBaha! This post was a riot. I found your blog through Lindsay at "Not a Mom" and this first post has me hooked! Too, too funny. Can't wait to follow along.

I do all these things!!! haha My sims are super fit and I like to multi-task by watching Netflix at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHahahah I love this!!! Such a great post and so relatable!

Hah making this post could be at the end of the list, too ;)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely rather sleep than work out! Jan is trying to persuade me to get up early during the week and go jogging with him!
ReplyDeleteBahaha the Jungle Book gif is me about all the things. I miss playing Sims!
ReplyDeleteYou and me girlfriend, you and me, we're the same :) Let's go skip working out and eat some food while watching netflix
ReplyDeleteliz jo @ sundays with sophie
OMG, I totally feel you. I pay for the gym and yet I've not been there in months. I dread going back. Some people just love it. I do not. I would much rather wear sweatpants and eat delicious foods. Maybe someday being fat will be "in". A girl can dream.
ReplyDeleteHa!!! I love the Sims. Totally guilty of making my Sims workout AND work their butts off climbing the career ladder instead of doing either of those things myself. But they improve so much faster than I do in real life!!! I'm not in a terribly motivated place right now, but I think I'm climbing out of it. I had a good week last week, fo sho.
ReplyDeleteI do all of this, all of it! And I play a lot of candy crush which is another complete waste of time. I also drink beer generally while playing tennis so all of that good activity gets cancelled right out!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! But you know, doing cleaning and laundry is legit activity! So for real, you should feel good about those choices :)
ReplyDeleteHah, I really love the honesty here. And thank you for the love! I really appreciate your joining in every single month and have loved seeing all your posts. But just FYI, house cleaning is absolutely a workout, so that counts and you should give yourself props for that ;) I know finding motivation is really hard and there's no one answer for how to do it—it's something different for everyone. I hope you find your formula soon and feel better about your workouts! <3
ReplyDeleteEating instead of working out and thinking about working while avoiding working out out are my biggest setbacks. I also make my sims work hard so they are always toned and fit. I figured that I'm gonna cut the crap and get a gym membership because working out at home doesn't work for me, too many distractions and excuses.
ReplyDeleteHahaha yes to all of these! Glad I'm not the only one who thinks she needs to do every other possible thing on her to-do list before (instead of) working out. - Svetlana @Life With a Side of Wine
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha yes. So many things come up and I can't even help it! However I've been good about it lately. Patting myself on the back right now ;) came over from Lindsay's blog to say hi :)
ReplyDeleteThe Sims one is KILLING ME. I used to love that game... the sad thing is I would probably still love it if I played. Thank you for a much needed laugh.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I'm glad you decided to join us because this is the best. I don't think there's anyone out there who can't relate to at least a few things on this list. I don't have a motivation problem, but I do have the opposite problem I guess...where basically nothing gets done because I'm too busy working out ;) You should see my house...actually you shouldn't, it's scary!
ReplyDeleteYou pretty much nailed it. I also read, create itunes playlists, scroll through facebook/instagram/twitter/pinterest (this takes time, you know), keep laying still in position that is comfortable for my cat who is most likely laying on top of me. You know, important stuff.
ReplyDeletebahahah yes. Last night we ran out of things we wanted to do. It was strange... and so I should have done the dishes and yoga. But instead I was frustrated that there wasn't something I wanted to do to keep me from doing responsible things. What? ugh. Ariel signing that contract, so true. XO -Alexandra

Ha-ha you also apparently reply to 55 blog comments from this genius post. Thanks for being real as always!
ReplyDeleteMotivation? Pfft. I'm with you. I WISH I was motivated to work out. Instead, I just stand in front of my mirror, push my flesh around, and visualize what it'd be like to weigh less.
ReplyDeleteDying over this post!! I basically try to trick myself or reward myself saying if you dont go today then you have to go tomorrow or worse on the weekend which I hate doing!! So i just go on that day I was planning to skip! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteHahaha! This is hilarious! If it's not already part of my routine, it's SO hard to add exercise. I have set times that I always go to the gym and it's just part of my schedule. So I do it. But sometimes I think "oh! I should try this work out or exercise thing..." and I don't. Because I mean... I could read blogs instead. Especially ones about coming up with excuses not to work out. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone needs a little motivation in there life. This list is too funny and often true! i would prefer to all of these things instead of working out...well except laundry and cleaning.
ReplyDeletehahahah you are hilarious! You should write for buzz feed girl! My favorite is the shopping meme because I can 1000000% relate. hahaa
ReplyDeletexo, Candace | Lovely Little Rants
Go to work early?! That's how you KNOW you hate working out! lol
ReplyDeleteLOL! I so relate to your list! I rather do everything but run! Trish - tales from trish
ReplyDeleteHahaha this is so me! Always thinking of every excuse in the book to not exercise. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much me. I have a really bad habit. My job is physically demanding. Between walking a ton and lifting, I am constantly working physically. So when I come the last thing I want to do is work out. I want to rest on my bed with netflix and ruffles sour cream and cheddar chips and just ignore the pain in my body. But I know that's not good. So I'm trying to keep as busy as possible. Although. Season 4 of American Horror Story and Season 3 of Hemlock Grove AND Season 1 of izombie are all coming to netflix soon ...
ReplyDeletevacuuming totally counts. as does spending money! ;)
ReplyDeleteBahahah! I've missed your posts! You just crack me up! This is allllll so very true!
ReplyDeleteThis post cracked me up! Unfortunately, I can also relate ... So maybe that's why I found it so hilarious?
ReplyDeleteI will say, though, that I never plan to work out in the morning. NEVER. It just won't happen. I know this for a fact, and I can guarantee that if you polled 20 (or more) of my friends and family, they'd all tell you I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'm not a morning person AT ALL. I'm barely functioning when I wake up, so there's absolutely no way I could possibly work out. I'd probably fall flat on my face, and then I'd be really late for work. Haha.
This post speaks to me on so many levels!! lol!
