Favourites Lately

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have exciting plans for Labor Day. Last year, we went on a super fun girls trip and it was tons of fun. Kind of wish we had a girls trip planned for this year!

Anyway, on to favourites with Amanda!

Favourite Post

LOVED Steph's self esteem boot camp post and I highly recommend you check it out. I used to compare myself all the time, and it only dragged me down. What's the point? Why do we see a picture of someone travelling and get angry that we aren't the one overseas? Or we see someone thin and get upset that our scale has gone up? You shouldn't compare, end of story. We should be happy for one another (or not, whatever) but we really shouldn't be feeling bad because someone else is out living their life - and they don't deserve to feel bad because they made someone jealous.

Favourite Song

I have loved Inescapable by Jessica Mauboy for yeeearrs (Aussie chick, super fun dancy song) but never liked any of her other stuff. My Spotify playlist wasn't working the other day so (gasp) I had to listen to the 'radio' and I tried to search for Inescapable, no dice, but found this song instead. At first I thought it was annoying, but now I'm kind of obsessed with it.

Not-So-Favourite Purchase

I keep seeing everyone talk about the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs stuff. I bought the spray because that's what Megan has used on me before (mainly my face, though). It was okay, easy to use, but I don't feel like it made a huge difference. Plus in certain lights it was glittery... which is not my jam. I've heard the lotion is better so I might try that. I definitely don't think it made enough of a difference to justify the price.

Ulta
I bought this product myself, by the by. Used a coupon, but still.

Favourite workout

I have been loving my skipping (jump) rope lately, thanks to Kate for inspiring me to dig it out of the closet. All these people on the internet are like doing 1 leg for a minute and I'm barely making it through 1 minute with both legs. But it's fun. and bloody hard, did I mention that?

Favourite Funny

KC sent it to me last Friday. I was laughing so hard I couldn't answer the phone.

Actually, the more I watch it, the more I feel sorry for the poor lion. I originally laughed because it reminds me of my cats when they do something stupid, but then I know how scared they get (or at least, how fast their heart rate gets) when they do something like this.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

  4. I saw your picture of the airbrush legs on IG and meant to ask how you liked it! Thanks for the review. Glittery is my jam most of the time, but not on my skin. I'm too pale to add a hint of disco ball. Hope you have a great long weekend!

  5. Haha aww the poor lion! It is funny though! That song is so fun, would be a great workout song! I need to dig out my old jump rope, I was never very good at it though, even as a kid. I always tripped over the rope, lol! Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. But it's so cute that be freaked out that way that you can't help but laugh at the poor lion! Girls trips really are the best, so maybe you can plan one for another upcoming weekend! Enjoy the long weekend!

  7. Definitely try out the lotion form! I hated the spray version and usually just mixed it with lotion so it looked better, but the lotion is AMAZING! Have a great weekend :)

  8. I was so excited when I saw this post title! Love seeing your favorites. I'm glad to hear your non-loving review of Airbrush legs! I have always debated whether to try it but I think I'll just stick to my usual self tanner. I have a few non-favorite products I need to share at some point too. That LION though!! Hahaha!!!! You find the best funnies and I appreciate the laugh today!

  9. OMG, do you know why everyone was talking about Sally Hansen?! Influenster thought it'd be cool to give out "virtual" VoxBoxes with a coupon code for it. So we'd have to BUY it OURSELVES to promote it and a coupon code tracker on our blogs for a CHANCE to win prizes! They emailed me about 50 times trying to get me to participate and I was like, "Is this a frickin' joke? You want me to buy my own products for your advertising? Um. No. Just no."

An-ne-wayz, happy Friday! That lion is hysterical.

  10. Jumping rope is serious business. I sometimes do it in my workouts and it always gets me beat up. It's so much harder than it looks!

  12. Those lions are hysterical, but I feel so bad for him! And yay for jumping rope, it's seriously no joke! And Steph's self esteem boot camp was awesomeness!

  14. Oh that poor lion! He reminds me way too much of my nervous nelly great dane who most definitely would be freaking out! I need to start jumping rope. Remember when it was all the rage in the early 2000s? It is such a time effective workout and kills the legs! Happy Friday

  15. Ahh, the poor lion! I did laugh a little, though. :) I bought the Sally Hansen lotion once, but never used it and returned it. So, I look forward to hearing your thoughts if you try it out! I definitely need to read that self-esteem boot camp post - I've been caught in the terrible comparison game lately, and I need to snap out of it. I hope you have a great long weekend!

  16. Oh my gosh! Is the lions head stuck? There is a video floating around with a bulldog that has a box on his head and keeps running into stuff. It's pretty funny. And I've got a jump rope somewhere I might pull out this weekend!

  17. I have watched that last gif like 10 times......the other lions are like so confused and concerned. Your cat snaps the other day were cracking me up! Where were they digging to in that sink? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  18. LOL that lion gif totally reminds me of my cats too whenever they try to get into a box hahaha. And leg makeup? I didn't even know that was a thing! Lol.

  19. oh man i am NOT coordinated enough to jump rope..it's pretty crazy how clumsy i am. i'd totally trip. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  20. Hahah those lions. I guess lions are a form of cat or visa versa so it totally makes sense with this behavior haha. I loved Steph's post..and you already know my thoughts with the Airbrush stuff. I much prefer the lotion. Though, to be fair, I am pale as shit so it makes a different on me. If someone has a decent tan going, it might not be as noticeable.

  21. The airbrush legs isn't my favorite - definitely dislike the glittery effect! Sometimes I use it in the winter when wearing a dress to special occasions so I don't look so scary though. Hope you have a good long weekend!

  22. Girl, you look GORGEOUS with your friends in that top pic! I agree about the Airbrush Legs. I think it only looks great on already tan people? I am too white for that. Have a fab LDW! xo

    ReplyDelete
  23. Aw the lion!! I agree, it's funny at first but then I jump to just hoping he's okay. I have this one friend who loves to watch "fail" videos with me and half the time I'm just cringing because people are doing things that could seriously injure them! Anytime I see someone falling on their tailbone or flat on their I get so freaked out. ANYWAY, on a lighter note, hope you have a great long weekend! <3

  24. I've given up on self tanner, I think I'm just destined to be pale no matter the time of year it is lol! The lion video is too funny. I'm guilty of watching America's funniest home videos and always laughing when it looks like people got hurt, shhh!

  25. Girls weekends are the best!!!!
I have the spray and I liked it but only when I'm tan... otherwise it doesn't match at alllll. Have yet to try the lotion habit people seem to be enjoying is overall!

  26. Ohhhh poor lion! My fat cat used to always get caught in situations like that. Now my other cat just races like a lunatic from room to room. It's awesome...

  27. Loved Steph's post, so true everyone is in different stages in there lives you can't compare. The lion is too cute it's like a game of keep away.

  28. Thanks so much for the shout out!

I hold true to my Banana Boat self tanner for body. I'm afraid of the Sally spray.

  29. I have to admit, I laughed too. And then I felt sorry for the poor zookeeper or whomever who had to go in and help that poor guy out. I'm a big fan of putting voices to animals so I imagined the other two lions saying "Dude! Dude! What the heck - dude!!" Somehow this made it even funnier for me. Have a good weekend!

  30. I'm with you on the Airbrush legs-the glitter effect was so odd! I pretty much embrace the pale now. Haha. I feel so bad for that line-he is totally freaking out.

  31. Aww the kitty friends want to help hah. Poor thing. Girl's trips are the best so you'll have to plan one sooner than later! Have a fabulous long weekend (and I hate that Sally spray, too!).

  32. I wish I had a girls' trip for this holiday, too. Enjoy the weekend!

  33. Oh poor lion!! It is exactly like house cats lol. So funny. Ooh I'll have to check out this song. Have a lovely long weekend! A trip would be fabulous though right? My coworker took half of this week off and comes back Tuesday, she's in the Bahamas. Green with envy right here... ;) XO -Alexandra

  34. That poor lion! I definitely hear you on thinking it's both funny and feeling badly for him at the same time. I've definitely seen cats do things like that too!

  35. oh golly... that lion. poor baby.

I didnt care for that spray either. & I am into glitter but it just wasnt pretty

    ReplyDelete
  36. I ain't scared to break out glitter eyeliner (ha!), but glitter legs wouldn't be a look I'd go for either. (listening to the Jessica Mauboy song as I type this) Steph's post was fantastic. I'm not sure why I didn't include it in my blogger love post.

  37. I didn't know that jump roping is making a comeback. I should give it a go! I doubt I could last a full minute though! Trish - tales from trish

  38. I love girls' weekends! I need to get a solid group of girl friends down here to make that happen.

  39. Every time I get out the jump rope I end up failing big time. How was I able to do that non-stop as a kid?! And how are you and everyone else able to do it now?!

    ReplyDelete
  40. haha those lions are so funny! they do remind me of my cats too though when they get stuck somewhere. hopefully he got out!

  41. Please tell me how that lion got his head stuck in that thing. What I love most is that the other lions are all "Cool! Let's play!" XD

  42. Wow, this is probably one of the coolest tutorials I’ve seen. Need to get into this ASAP!

  43. Really love that piece on jumping rope! I tried it a couple times years ago but it would be great to incorporate that into my current workouts. :) I played softball over the summer and just signed up for two different dance classes with a friend. I go to the gym a couple times per week but it's so great to do different things and change it up. Jumping rope would definitely be a good challenge.
