There's a girl.
They both like to read, coincidence?
There's a guy.
They are kind of rude / hostile / awkward when they first meet.
The boy lacks certain social graces.
Before we get too far, there's another boy. He's not the nicest, and he screws things up.
oh my gosh, they are basically wearing the same thing.
There are also silly girls.
There's a lot of eyes going on in both stories.
Hands and touching play a big deal in both.. in one, he's all like 'she's touching me and not repulsed!' and in the other 'he's touching me but he hates me and this is like olden days where touching is like way more than it is these days so woah it's a big deal'.
and I'm pretty sure this is the same balcony.
The conflicts are overcome...
and everyone lives happily ever after!
Ah, happy endings.
Moral of the stories?
Preach, Charlotte.
No wonder these are two of my favourite movies, right? Happy Friday. I think I know what I'm watching tonight - how about you?
You are so clever!! Which is why I think you need to go submit this to buzzfeed - it's to good not to! xo, biana -BlovedBoston

this is so awesome. now i can say that i know what P&P is all about LOL. i'll even try to pick up the book and see if i can read it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Biana! You could totally submit this to buzzfeed! This is so great!
ReplyDeleteYes, submit it to Buzzfeed! I had never really quite drawn these some links before :) I just watched P&P a few weeks ago but now I am dying to watch it again...and haven't seen Beauty and the Beast in awhile even though it was one of my favourites as a kid!! I loved the music in both these movies too :)
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh... this is brilliant... I didn't think I could have you any higher on my favorite people list, but yet , you just raised another notch :)
ReplyDeleteYou just combined two of my favorite movies into the best post ever! I've loved Elizabeth and Belle for so long and I was going to name a daughter Elizabeth until I found out how many Elizabeth's are already in my husband's family. Maybe I could just use Belle instead :)
ReplyDeleteThis is freaking brilliant and because I read the other comments, i concur that this belongs on Buzzfeed.
ReplyDeleteSeriously how do you come up with this stuff?? You are so clever! Love this post. I've never been that into Pride and Prejudice (sorry! I never disliked it though) but it just got a few more cool points in my book because of this post.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! You are soooo smart and clever and I LOVE IT!!!! Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favorite movies so I guess I need to see P&P!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Pride and Prejudice but I really have to! I absolutely love Kiera Knightley so I'll watch it just so I can see her on screen. Great post!
ReplyDeletei just watched P & P last weekend! but you've made a really good case for watching it again this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHahaha love this! You are totally right! You nailed all the gifs girl, totally nailed it!

ReplyDeleteAlso you are the queen of gifs!
I think you might have convinced me to watch Pride and Prejudice. Your mission is complete and I love this comparison too! Two in a row...can't wait to see what you come up with next!
ReplyDeleteBeauty and the Beast is my all time favorite animation. Love it!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to read Pride and Prejudice again! And LOL on them being the same balcony! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWow so many similarities! So fun reading this comparison. Have fun watching this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love this and I'm echoing the choir - submit to Buzzfeed!
ReplyDeletexo, Carly - soak and simmer
I like how you matched it up!
ReplyDeleteHaha this is great! I've never thought of it that way before
ReplyDeleteThis is AMAZING! And I just watched Beauty and the Beast last weekend, so it's all fresh in my head. I never would have thought to compare the two but WOW!

I LOVE this! That Pride and Prejudice movie always gets me in the feels. Not to mention Mr Darcy looks so good too ;) Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favorite Disney movies. I never realized how similar these two are!
ReplyDeleteTotally laughed when you said you're pretty sure these are the same balconies! This is so clever! I agree with everyone saying you should submit it to Buzzfeed. :)
ReplyDeleteBRB, gotta go pop in Pride and Prejudice to the DVD player. I am in love with you. "You have bewitched me, body and soul." Yessss.
ReplyDeleteAhh! I was grinning like a fool in love the entire way through this post. You are so clever and this is so cute! Love the parallels and the photos in this. :)
ReplyDeleteSweet cracker sandwich - when I saw on an earlier post that you received a P&P book and you had commented that you hadn't read it or heard of it or something ... well, I'm new to your blog and didn't know if I could continue following you at that point. I'm SO glad I didn't unfollow you! :) And for you to pick these two stories, which are obviously complete parallels ... you are awesome! I will also be re-watching P&P (this version, of course) this weekend. Thank you thank you thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteElizabeth! Nice to meet you :) I wish I could respond to you via email, but I can't find your email address :(
DeleteNo no no no lol, I was saying that other people don't want to read P&P. I have read it more times than any human ever should ;)
lol @ "I'm pretty sure this is the same balcony" :) So clever! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteGENIUS! I just finished re-reading P & P!
ReplyDeleteOk ok ok ok all of your other P& P stuff I was like yeah yeah yeah whatever Kristen it's lame but I am not going to tell you that because I love you. But then you were all holy shit it's Beauty and the Beast and well that is my favorite beyond favorite movie of all time. So now I think I might actually give it a chance, and mean it when I say it this time!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow, if only the point could be made in such an easy to understand way, maybe I could have finished P&P. (Again, I don't think I'm smart enough to read it).
ReplyDeleteHaha! I can totally see the similarities. So smart! Love the connection.
ReplyDeleteThis was so much fun!
ReplyDeleteSo many modern stories pull their plots or at least parts of them from ages-old stories and plays! Disney does this a LOT. The Lion King, for example, follows the same plot as Hamlet, the play by William Shakespeare.
ReplyDeleteFun fact: Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie <3
Love this! I never thought about how similar the movies are, but you are so right :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness this is amazing! You are a genius!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the first comment, you should send this to buzzfeed! I loved reading it. I never noticed all the similarities. Cool post Kristen!

ReplyDeleteAw, love it. So funny. There really are some pretty direct similarities. :) XO -Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Argh, now I can't decide if I want to watch Beauty and the Beast or Pride & Prejudice first!?! #firstworldproblems
ReplyDeleteLove this! And now I know which movies I have to watch next.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm convinced that you are a literary/movie genius at this point. Ha! This is so spot on - my favorite comparison is that there are a lot of eyes going on in both stories. So. true.
ReplyDeleteThis is epic. Epic, I tell you. Now I know what I'm watching this weekend! Also, the "I love...I love..I love you" part gets me right in the feels. EVERY time.
ReplyDeletehahaha! I never really thought about it before, but you are SOOOO right. egads!
ReplyDeleteAww, two of my favorite movies as well!! I'd never thought about all the similarities, but you are right on!
ReplyDeleteSooo I don't need to watch it now? I can recite Beauty and the Beast :)
ReplyDeleteWhyyyyy is this so true?! Officially one of my most favorite posts you've done. Hands down.
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo true, as everyone above me has already said, haha. I would have never put the two together though! After seeing all of the gifs all I want to do today is watch P&P!
