I stopped making goals when the choose your own adventure link up ended. It just so happened to coincide with our Europe trip so all routine / goals went out of the window anyway. I didn't think I would post monthly goals after that, because it was getting a bit boring and I wasn't actually achieving any of the goals anyway. I think I was a bit ambitious, maybe. But anyway.
Now it's August and I haven't made any goals, let alone completed anything in the past 2 months. So I am sharing what I hope to achieve by the end of the month, hope you don't mind. I wanted to list more, but I knew I had to keep it simple stupid so I might actually attain them.
- Make one new recipe. Starting small and simple y'all. This recipe from Paige looks really good, though I don't know if we'd use beef / chicken / chickpeas. We shall see.
- Sell a few things on eBay. That pile is taking on a life of it's own.
- Don't eat out for lunch. Just, don't!
- Cross something off my 30 before 30 list. Just one thing. Any one thing.
- Stick to my half marathon training plan. Just do it.
Here's to August! Soon it will be September and then 2015 will be over. That's not terrifying at all.
If I don't set goals I lose all motivation. Good luck kicking ass at yours!
ReplyDeleteI need to join you on the not eating out for lunch thing! And I need to not eat out as much in general, I used to never eat out and now I've gotten so bad about it. It's just SO hard!

eating out for lunch (esp at work) makes me nervous! i never eat out; even when we went to my husband's office for a visit, i brought my lunch with me LOL
ReplyDeleteAhhh, the eating out at lunch is so hard when I want to be lazy...and dinner. I agree if I don't write it down I won't get much done. I even made a whole list of things to do yesterday and spent the majority of my time watchin Youtube videos so I had to stay up late to get the things that MUST be done, done. *shakes head* Good luck with your August goals!!
ReplyDeletei'm good at not eating out at lunch--only bc i'm stuck at work, ha! but not eating out on the weekends is so hard!! good luck to you on the goals!!
ReplyDeleteSome very realistic goals! I try so hard not to eat out for lunch - but i fail miserably each month!x
ReplyDeleteEating in for lunch is the best way to save extra money! Have you tried selling clothes on Poshmark? It’s my favorite and so easy!
ReplyDeleteLove that you added not eating out for lunch! It amazes me how many people do this every day (or almost every day). It's not just the cost, it's what you're putting in your body that's scary! I only go out to lunch at work if we're celebrating something or on the very rare occasion that I left my lunch at home. Awesome goal gurlie, you've got this :-D
ReplyDeleteI need to have No Eating Lunch Out as my goal too. I would be saving a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteNot eating out for lunch is a great one! I need to set this too. I'm horrible about it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals this month!
I had one month (January) where I didn't eat out once while I was at work. I was spending between $30-$40 a week on food, and why?? I did feel great about it! So if I can do it, you can do it!! Also, I've got faith in you with your half marathon goal! You can do it!!
ReplyDeleteHeheh Shia, so crazy. Goal setting is good, but it can definitely be hard when you are busy and in general. So doing it every month can get kind of daunting. Especially when the fun goals feel like they need checked off. I've kind of checked out a little bit too. But I have been working a little on my 101 in 1,001. So I'm thinking I might start seasonal bucket lists again in the fall. :) Good luck! XO -Alexandra

Great goals!! In my opinion the most important one is stick with the half marathon training plan! I never stick to my training plans and then I'm always disappointed when I dont do well at the race. If you stick to it I'm sure you can crush your goals!
ReplyDeleteAll you need is Shia being aggressively motivational for you to reach your goals. No, I wish... But I hope that you achieve your goals for this month. The training one would be the hardest for me since I just can't seem to stick with a plan. So good luck and don't forget to enjoy the process of making your goals happen too! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of similar goals! It's great making a monthly goal so that you can stay accountable for only 30 days, rather than trying to go a whole year. You can definitely do it!! Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteYes girl! I also have GOT to get some of my ebay stuff listed and sold!!! Ugh! That pile really does have a mind of its own! :O
ReplyDeleteThese are good goals, especially the not eating out for lunch one. It's tough whenever you know there's a good restaurant nearby and you have a craving for something! I've seen a lot of people with their 30 before 30 lists and I should probably try making one sometime, it sounds like it would be fun.
ReplyDeleteTrying out a new recipe sounds like a lot of fun! I know that sometimes we get into a rut where we just cook the same things over and over again, and I'm always scared we're going to get sick of our favorite recipes.
ReplyDeleteI have a whole corner of a room full of stuff I want to put on Ebay too
ReplyDeleteGood luck girl!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff! I always keep my seasonal goals going. Hoping to get to all of them this summer, but time is running out!
ReplyDeleteHmmm I am eating out for lunch today. And tomorrow. Oops. Haha! That stir fry looks good, minus the mushrooms. I have made a few new recipes this month after being a total slacker in the kitchen and they have turned out well so that makes me happy and inspired me to try more again! Good luck on your goals.
ReplyDeleteThe stir fry recipe looks really good! I've, also, got an Ebay pile that could use some attention...
ReplyDeleteThe not eating out for lunch is hard for me. I usually give myself one day a week to grab something fun - sometimes it ends up being two, though...
ReplyDeleteThat Shia gif applies to so much haha and I LOVE IT!! ;) I think you can totally achieve these goals girl. Just do 'em!!!!! ;)
ReplyDeletelove it! I am going to sell some stuff on ebay too (hopefully!)
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! And seriously, where is this year going? It's making me so sad!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I don't know how to function or what to even do with myself if I don't make goal lists! But I'm proud of you for trying to get back on track and this seems like a great and manageable goal list. Good luck!! You so got this!
ReplyDeleteThat recipe looks really good for sure! You got that one! I have got to stop eating out (in general) so much. Holy moly that adds up!
ReplyDeleteI always see chickpeas in recipes, but I've never actually used them! You'll have to let us know how the recipe turns out. It's fun to try out new things sometimes!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals!!! You can totally do it. Sidenote: if I could succeed at not eating out for lunch for one month - Life would be golden!
ReplyDeletegood list! i really need to sell some junk on ebay too. im tempted to just donate it but it'd be soo nice to make a little cash! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteYou got this!!! I love making goals each month or so- keeps me focused, even if I don't get to ALL of them ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck girlie! i need to follow you with not eating lunch out. It save so much money and less healthy options.
ReplyDeleteGreat goals! I think small, more manageable goals are the way to go!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever made a goals list... is that crazy? yours seem very manageable, though. You've got it!
ReplyDeleteThese are great goals! I love the no eating lunch out. That's a great one.
ReplyDeleteSmall goals for the win! There's so much more success when you give yourself the opportunity to succeed!
ReplyDeleteI need to set some goals too, I've been just getting by. Good look on your goals!
ReplyDeleteYou got this! I need to put "make one new recipe" on my list too. For some reason that's something I don't really ever think to do unless I've made it an explicit goal to do so.
ReplyDeleteI usually eat out a lot at the beginning of August with back-to-school lunches, but I know that once classes start, I won't be able to leave for lunch until...June. So I can justify it :)
ReplyDeleteI love making monthly goals! I don't always stick with all of them, but I think it's nice to have some specific things in mind to work on each month.
ReplyDeleteI think your goals sound totally doable. I feel similarly about keeping them pretty simple ... You should definitely challenge yourself, but not make a crazy list of 50 extremely ambitious things you want to accomplish within a short period of time. Good luck this month!
I really love selling stuff on ebay. good luck!

I saw you made that recipe and rocked it girl! And you're after my own heart - don't follow anything to a T. That's how it should be done! I'm so glad you tried it and liked it. I also need to look into selling stuff as opposed to just giving it away (maybe - I have mixed feelings about that). We have some C2B book shelves that don't fit anywhere (as in, they were hubs and the STYLE doesn't fit!) in our home and need to go... But at $2k retail each, we're not just gifting those! Let me know it goes on eBay - is it pretty easy? I've only done Craigslist. And that's sketchy here in Dallas!
ReplyDeleteGoals are soo hard, especially when you get off your regular routines! But I think everything planned is totally achievable. I'm so bad about the lunch one too-- sometimes it's just so much easier to grab something. I've been bad with Starbucks again-- and I hate it because I know it adds up and is so costly!
ReplyDeleteNo eating out for lunch is one I should try. And yet even as I say it I know it's not realistic for me. But let's see how many days I actually go.
ReplyDeleteOff subject, who designed your blog?
I stop eating out for lunch years ago and it was one the best things I have ever done. I saved a ton of money and calories.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think these are all achievable! Except maybe quitting eating out for lunch. I'm SO guilty of the same thing. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're going to do great! I have faith in you. :)
ReplyDeleteI just looked at my 40 by 40 the other day and thought that I needed to get on that list pronto. The approach to 40 isn't slowing down.
ReplyDeleteVery doable goals. Even the not going out to lunch. I believe in you!!!
I think the goals you chose are just perfect and realistic. One recipe - perfect! Does it need to be healthy? Because I have a lot of good non-healthy recipes! Ebay...ugh! Why does it have to be such a hassle. I think I'm giving up on that part of my life, sadly. But you can do it and I hope you'll follow up in September with how you did!
ReplyDeleteI wish my husband had a goal of not eating out for lunch. I send him a packed lunch every day and yet he still goes out to eat. It is SO annoying. Grr. But anyways... let me take a deep breath and calm down...lol Good luck with your goals Kristen!
ReplyDeleteJessica | Pyreflies.org
Good luck with your goals! I need to work on not eating out so much.
ReplyDeletelol about cross something off your list, anything. hahaha.
ReplyDeleteAnd nice job on a new recipe! I have a huge binder of ones I want to try in the fall.
Eating out is my kryptonite. It's worse for you and wastes money... but it's so easy and delicious! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the same way about goals. I feel like I don't want to do them because I keep listing the same things over and over again and feeling like I've lost. Also, not eating out as much needs to be life goal for me!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's best to keep your goals simple. Having too much on your plate can be overwhelming!
