Anyway. I'm going to assume that we all have a guilty pleasure movie or two.. am I right? The one that you prefer to watch alone because a companion might point out how awful it is? Or is that just me? Well I have more than one or two...
The Polar Bear King.
Yeah you probably haven't heard of this, and for good reason. It's pretty awful. But I love it with an embarrassing amount of love.
One for the Money
I've talked about how this should be a TV series because Stephanie Plum is crazy popular, and what did they think they were doing with the movie? Were they going to make a movie for every book? Silly people. TV show would have been better. Anywho. This movie is pretty bad... for lots of reasons. But I watch it regularly because I just LOVE it.
What to Expect When You're Expecting.
This isn't a bad movie, but for some reason I watch it way more than any non pregnant person should.
We'll say it's because of that Joe guy, but really I just love it. Jennifer Lopez getting her baby and Elizabeth Banks saying 'he's my glow' - both of them make me cry like a buffoon every single time and you just need to do that alone, you know? I also should admit I love He's Just Not That Into You as well, but I could take or leave Valentine's Day.
Home Fries
Haven't watched this movie in ages and I think it's high time for a reunion. With some fries. Seriously, it's awfully awesome.
Fever Pitch / The Perfect Catch.
It's called The Perfect Catch at home, so that's what it is in my head. I have seen this movie a million times. Megan and I used to watch it almost every Sunday after a night out when we could barely move. It makes me cringe but I mean, how can you not love it.
A Knight's Tale.
I can quote this movie word for word. No lie.
The First Wives Club.
I feel like someone my age shouldn't love this as much as I do, but I do, I do, I do, I do.
27 dresses.
Gah, when he says 'Get over here' I just DIE. Ok, I just really like Katherine Heigl movies apparently.
How to lose a guy in 10 days.
Because it's awesome.
She's the Man and What a Girl Wants.
Amanda, you had so much going for you! I love these movies.
Heartbreakers.
I freaking love this movie and all it's terribleness. Jennifer Love Hewitt is fabulous.
Ella Enchanted.
I'm really not a huge fan of Anne Hathaway anymore, but I can dig this movie and the Devil Wears Prada. But this movie, lame as it is.. has Hugh Dancy in it. It's pretty awful though.
Anything with Brendan Fraser.
Yep. The Mummy, The Journey to the Center of the Earth, Blast from the Past, Inkheart... guilty, party of one.
Anything with Mandy Moore.
I don't know why, but I love Mandy Moore movies. Chasing Liberty, yes please. Because I said so, A Walk to Remember, How to Deal.. Mandy, can you make some more please?
Leap Year
The above gif reminded me I really love Leap Year as well. It's seriously so cringe worthy but I can't get enough.
(Almost) anything with Nicholas Cage.
KC hates Nicholas Cage. I love him. The cornier the better.
Anything with John Cusack.
I have seen all of his movies. Yes, really. I used to be OBSESSED with him.
Ever After.
Just kidding, I'm not ashamed of this because it's AWESOME. I watch it crazy regularly.
I am 0% shocked that almost all of my guilty pleasure movies are chick flicks. I love a good chick flick, so sue me. There are a bunch of others I watch all the time (Love, Actually / Bridget Jones / The Holiday) but I feel less guilty about those and also I would have gone all day so I had to stop somewhere! I don't actually feel guilty about any of these, truthfully. This should have just been titled 'movies KC refuses to watch with me'.
Now to decide what to watch tonight.....
Do you have any guilty pleasure movies? Or do you like any of mine?
Haha ok, don't hate me but I haven't seen at least half of these... I've seen How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days though! And A Knights Tale! Love both of them! I guess I need to rent some movies this weekend!!
ReplyDelete<3, Pamela
Sequins & Sea Breezes
I've been a bridesmaid 13 times, so I could be in a sequel to 27 Dresses. Call it Not Quite Half of 27 Dresses.
ReplyDeleteMy top #1 No Shame guilty pleasure movies, well, I have two: Grease 2 and Urban Cowboy.
First Wives Club!!!!! I watched it all the time in junior high and that the you don't own me song has been on the radio I want to watch it again! Ever After and A Knights Tale were also favorites that I owned on VHS.
ReplyDeleteoh, yes! dirty dancing (i must watch that at least twice every summer), how to lose a guy (so funny), mean girls (because duh), any 80s movie (karate kid, blood sport etc).
ReplyDeleteI LOVE A Knight's Tale too! I was obsessed with Heath Ledger in high school and watched that movie and 10 Things I Hate About You on repeat. Now I can pretty much quote them word for word. And now I want to go watch them because I haven't seen them in ages!
ReplyDeleteokay. I LOVE Brendan Fraser too. He's just too funny. And John Cusack? Are you kidding me? One of my lifetime crushes. I love all his movies... my Cusack guilty pick is probably America's Sweethearts. I find it hilarious. 27 Dresses? THAT IS NOT A GUILTY PICK. THAT IS A DAMN GOOD MOVIE. As is First Wives Club. Let's be real here.
ReplyDeleteSarah
Midwest Darling
I'm with on He's Just Not That Into You. I looove that movie so much.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to all Mandy Moore. I love her!
I really liked A Knight's Tale (no shame!) and Ever After (small amount of shame). But doesn't it just make up for everything when they tell her she can take whatever she can carry and she just slings him over her back?!?! I'm not a fan of Katherine Heigl, but I did really like 27 Dresses. Oh, but Ella Enchanted made me angry. The book was so good and then they took it and removed all the originality of it and turned it into a standard teenager movie. It shouldn't even have been called Ella Enchanted, because the only thing that was the same was her curse.
ReplyDeleteOh Heath, why did you have to die? I NEEDED you! I lurve A Knight's Tale and I also know all the words and try to incorporate them into daily conversation (Thank you. I'll be here all week).
ReplyDeleteAlso, 10 Things I Hate About You and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days are on my fave list.
I just saw what to expect when you are expecting and I think I was expecting to much from the movie (pun intended) But I do love how to lose a guy in 10 days and Heartbreakers was a fave of mine
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only person in the world that loved First Wives Club!!! I have a semi girl crush on Diane Keaton -- I don't know what it is, I just love her. And yes Mandy Moore! She has been my hair inspiration since I can't even remember.
ReplyDeleteOhmergosh, I love this post! I watch What To Expect When You're Expecting at least once a month, and cry EVERY SINGLE TIME! In fact, I almost watched it last night since hubs was off on business, but I did just watch it a few weeks ago... So I held off. I also watch Fried Green Tomatoes way more than anyone should, along with Love Actually.
ReplyDeleteIf I like it, I usually don't consider it a guilty pleasure? I'm weird like that. I will always watch Overboard even though it's not a cinematic masterpiece by any means. I adore the Legally Blonde movies, 10 Things I Hate About You, and really liked He's just not that into you even though I hated a lot of things about it at the same time. LOL
ReplyDeleteSeeing Ella Enchanted on your list makes me think of just Enchanted (with Amy Adams). If you haven't watched it, do. <3
ReplyDeleteHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! *heart eyes* I could watch that one over and over again, too.
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with The First Wives Club - especially the "You Don't Own Me" scene. It's such a classic.
ReplyDeleteYes to First Wives Club, 27 Dresses, and How to Lose a Guy! How can I not like a movie where one of the leading characters has my name :)
ReplyDeleteI adore a Knights Tale!!!
ReplyDelete& I'm all about anything with Drew Barrymore!
Leap Year is in my top 5 favorite movies. I adore Amy Adams & that Irish dude...mmmm...yes please.
& how can you not love Jimmy Fallon in a movie?
This post was fantastic!
Love, love, love How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Leap Year! I could look at Matthew McConaughey and listen to Matthew Goode all day long!
ReplyDeleteMy guilty pleasure movie growing up was Princess Diaries. I watched it over & over & over again.
ReplyDeleteNine to Five is one of my guilty pleasure movies now. And maybe Tangled too (although I don't watch it too often!).
OMG! Can you either come to Texas or me come to Kentucky & just have a cheesy movie marathon?? Because except for the couple that I haven't seen (Polar Bear King, Home Fries, & First Wives Club...I know I know I have no idea how I haven't seen the last one...) I L-O-V-E these movies!
ReplyDeleteOther than 27 Dresses, Heartbreakers and Ella Enchanted I haven't seen any of the other movies on the list. I am adding a few to my Need to Watch List now :).
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh so many amazing movies!!!! A Knight's Tale, First Wives Club, 27 Dresses, Ever After, How To Loose Guy in 10 Days- Just YES to all of those!!!!! I still haven't seen One for the Money. I wanted to wait until after I read all the books because Morelli and Ranger are so hot and perfect in my mind that I didn't want them ruined! I guess the time has come, right???
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes to 27 Dresses! So much so that my boyfriend has a copy at his house for me when I'm over there :)
ReplyDeleteUm YES to pretty much all of these! How to Lose A Guy is one of my all-time favorites, not even ashamed! And I love Ella Enchanted, it's awesomely corny! LOVE that part in 27 dresses when they are singing Bennie and The Jets! I love What to Expect too, even though I'm not preggo and have never been! I agree, that one and He's Just Not That Into You are good but Valentine's Day was meh. Love A Knight's Tale! Heath Ledger, sniff sniff! I could go on and on so I'll stop now!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I have guilty pleasure movies because if I like something, I'm generally not ashamed or feel guilty for liking it. That said, I love He's Just Not That Into You. It's a terrible, terrible movie but I love it anyway. Same with all those late 90s teen movies--She's All That, Never Been Kissed, etc. Fever Pitch is definitely a fun movie, I love John Cusack and Brendan Fraser, and my husband will watch A Knight's Tale every time it's on.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this post is ALL sorts of fantastical! hahaa I'm literally in the mood to do nothing but watch old movies today!!
ReplyDeleteI just watched She's the Man the other day on TV and I thought the same thing! So much going for her and now look at her!
ReplyDeleteYESSSS – What to Expect, He's Just Not That Into You, Fever Pitch, Mandy Moore anything... yes. I'll add The Princess Diaries (Yes I am 26, wanna fight about it?) and anything with Melissa Joan Hart made for ABC Family. Whatever, judge me. I love it all.
ReplyDeleteTHE POLAR BEAR KING omg you're my favorite person. I knew it as soon as I saw the photo. I watched that for days on end when I was in the hospital. I had major surgery when I was 8 or 9 and was in the ICU for a couple days. They let me have a VCR and that damn movie was all I would watch. Over and over.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course Nic Cage. Always.
Added to my Netflix list for my husband-less weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to Mandy Moore?! I haven't seen most of these but I'm always down for a cheesy chick flick. And YES to How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days... I've lost track of how many times I've watched that one!
ReplyDeleteAhhh Home Fries! And I love quoting How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! Great one liners :)
ReplyDeleteSo many of the movies on your list would be on mine! I absolutely LOVE How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days & Knight's Tale. But I could say that about 10 others on your list too. ;)
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh...you are officially my favorite blogger. SO many great movies and memories here. Those gifs just made my day!!
ReplyDeleteWow it's been years since I've seen most of these movies (some I actually haven't seen). The First Wives Club was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteIt's like you read my mind. The First Wives Club is in my opinion one of the best movies ever. What to Expect When You're Expecting, 27 dresses, How to lose a guy in 10 days, She's the Man, What a Girl Wants, Ella Enchanted, Ever After, and pretty much anything with Mandy Moore or Nicholas Cage are on my guilty pleasures movies list!
ReplyDeleteohhh this really makes me want to sit down and think about all my guilty pleasure movies! hmmmm
ReplyDeleteYou and I could totally do a movie night! I love 99.9% of all of these (I haven't actually seen some of them.) I watched what to expect when you're expecting about 1 million times. Even before I had my little one I still watched it over and over again something about it is so hilarious and beautiful and awesome! Also the Polar Bear King is awesome! Loved that one as a kid! Ever After is another wonderful favorite!
ReplyDeleteok love ALL of these. can I come over and do a movie day/night and just watch all of these? I am always quoting She's the Man and Jason is always like "huh?" i haven't begged him to watch it yet. I also love olsen twin movies. guilty pleasure right there! they're just so good!
ReplyDeletexo, Candace | Lovely Little Rants
Oh my god, I love movies with Brendan Fraser. The mummy movies are life. I LOVE Bedazzled. LOVE Crash. His movies are just greatness.
ReplyDeleteUMMMMM I like more than half of these so what's so guilty bout it?!? I used to watch a Knight's Tale everyday after school in high school (god, I was a loser), and Fever Pitch, UHHHHH, I just watched that last night. I love that freakin' movie. So you take it back! These are classics. And we all love em!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Yes to anything with Mandy Moore. "I prayyyyyyy to be only yours, I prayyyyyyyy to be only yours, I know now...you're my only hope!" Seriously does she sing in EVERY movie?
I don't usually like Drew Barrymore's acting, but "Ever After" is one of her better movies.
ReplyDeleteI love Ella enchanted... I re-watched it so many times when I was younger. I see it on Netflix but skip over it... I really need to watch it again for fun!
ReplyDeleteJessica
pyreflies.org
ooo I like a handful of these.
ReplyDelete"It's called a lance, hellooooo" <3 A Knight's Tale.
What A Girl Wants is one of mine, I also adore A Cinderella Story with Hillary Duff.
Chick flicks are the best to watch over and over again.
EXCUSE ME. Ever After is a glorious, romantic, masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I just relived my youth. How to Lose a Guy and Heartbreakers NEVER get old!
ReplyDeleteI am dying right now - we were destined to be friends. I pretty much am with you on 90-95% of this list. Just add P.S. I Love You, Crossroads (yes, I'm talking Britney Spears), and Pride & Prejudice, and we are good to go. Fun fact: How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days is mine and my husbands "movie" because it's the first one we ever watched together when we started dating - we can quote it verbatim to this day.
ReplyDeleteomg can we have a movie night?!! You picked some of my favs! How to lose a guy in 10 days I think I know by heart haha!

Upbeat Soles
I still love Anne Hathaway! And it all started with Ella Enchanted. I read the book over and over when I was a kid, and then they made a movie, so I was in heaven. It is truly terrible, but fantastic.
ReplyDeletelol i loved She's the Man... i always watch it when it's on. other favorites: overboard, something's gotta give (i loveee a comedy with older couples ha), can't buy me love, jack and sarah, and my all time favorite: sliding doors. xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI have ever after and a walk to remember 100% memorized. So good.
ReplyDeletePolar bears are my favorite animal, how have I never heard of this polar bear king movie?? lol. And yesss to Mandy Moore movies! What really did happen to her?? I shamelessly love the Selena Gomez movie Monte Carlo...
ReplyDeleteI've seen almost all of these and I love 27 Dresses. I own it (literally and figuratively).
ReplyDeleteAlso, I liked Leap Year and, as a child, I owned The Polar Bear King but I think my mom had bought it for my brother and I might've never actually watched it. I just remember it being there on the shelf.
Ever After wins at life. No one should ever feel guilty about watching it. Your John Cusack gif reminded me of how obsessed I used to be with America's Sweethearts! That movie is perfection.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't call them guilty pleasures there are plenty of movies that are utterly ridiculous but I can't help but love them. Amanda Bynes movies are totally one I agree with! They're always so over the top, but completely endearing. I seem to have a fond spot for all my childhood movies too like Power Rangers and things along those lines.
ReplyDeleteHeartbreakers is one of my all-time favorites. You have to love a mother daughter con artist team... I agree, anything Mandy Moore as well... her movies are so fun. There should be more. ;) I still love the MK&A movies, and ever since the Thanksgiving/Xmas season where I caught all the preschool germs I have had this severe need to watch Hallmark Xmas movies during the holidays. And sometimes not... lol.

Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Ooh and I love What to Expect When You're Expecting. It is so sweet and hilarious. It always makes me want a baby... until about the end... when things get real. And then not as much. :) haha XO
ReplyDeleteI will always watch 27 dresses and How To Lose A Guy whenever it is on TV. I also watch Monster-In-Law and basically any cheesy JLo movie. The Family Stone is my favorite cheesy movie.
ReplyDeleteI love John Cusack. He's so adorable! Being John Malkovich is one of my all-time favorite movies, though I definitely wouldn't call that one a guilty pleasure ... It's too good.
ReplyDeleteI have more guilty pleasures when it comes to TV shows than movies. Eric always teases me because apparently my taste in movies leans toward pretentious, but I have no shame when it comes to TV shows. I mean, I should probably be embarrassed that I love Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, Dance Moms, and Awkward (among others!) as much as I do.
First Wives Club is one of my all time favorite movies! YOU DON'T OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN ME!
ReplyDeleteI love a lot of these. Mandy Moore, yep! (A Walk to Remember, I'll cry just thinking of it...). A Knights Tale 100%, heath is such a hunk... How to lose a guy in 10 days is such a classic and always makes me laugh. :) I totally know what the Polar Bear King is and loved it when I was a kid, such an odd movie!!
ReplyDeleteOh and old school Amanda Bines was the bomb. I loved What a Girl Wants and have probably watched it like 50 times haha.
DeleteCory HATES my movie selection. I have to agree with the Amanda Bines and recently, I started re-watching all the Mary Kate and Ashley movies with my little sister. Can't say I hate it! I think my biggest guilty pleasure is the Hallmark channel at Christmas. The cheesier the better!
ReplyDeleteGuilty pleasure be damned! I love so many of these. I watch Ever After all the time. It's just so damn good. And First Wive's Club?!?! You have no idea. I've been watching that movie for 20 years! And Fever Pitch. I'm bias because I love Boston, but it's a great movie too. EXCELLENT CHOICES!
ReplyDelete
