We had just under 3 days in Dublin. I wish we'd had a little bit more so that we could have ventured outside the city, but I thought we'd miss out on Dublin specific things if we spent a whole day away. Honestly, at least compared to Paris and Rome, Dublin is quite small and 2 days was sufficient, in my opinion. That's not to say we wouldn't go back, we would.
Because Dublin was our last city, we were quite worn out and definitely took things a lot slower than the rest of the trip. We still did tons of touristy things like Trinity College, The Book of Kells, St Stephen's Green, Temple Bar, Kilmainham Gaol, a Viking Splash Tour, Grafton Street (shops!), Ha'penny Bridge, Dublin Castle, St Patrick's Cathedral and of course.. the Guinness Storehouse which was the highlight of KC's life, I think. The last thing we did was a traditional Irish music & dancing show which was tons of fun, especially when KC got pulled up on stage. Anyway, enough talking, lets let the pictures do their thing. I was definitely less camera happy in Dublin than in the other cities.
First stop - 'Australian' (or English or Irish or whatever-ish) food.
I don't remember what these were called, but I had like 4 of them they were so yum. It was in the pub next to our hotel (Darkey Kelly's, above) and we drank, ate fish & chips and listened to a live band all night. All of which were not photographed. But fun.
You go into this all white room and there are these steam things going on and you get to smell allll the Guinness smells (vomit) and then they give you a tiny glass of Guinness (see below, I am not a giant) and I don't know if you know or can tell, but Guinness is actually a dark ruby red. So there you go.
Yeah, I don't know how to play a harp.
A very chocolatey hot chocolate is way more my style than a Guinness. Zero shame.
Not the best photo, but KC was one of the people they dragged up on stage and it was hilarious.
Well, that brings the Europe recapping to a finish, but I'm not done talking about Europe. Packing, planning, tips etc - I want to relive this trip as long as possible! Or at least, until it's appropriate to start talking about the next trip!
I've always wanted to go to Ireland! The food an the beer... yum! Although truthfully I'm not the biggest fan of Guinness haha! Looks like you again had amazing weather, I'm so jealous!!

love it! ireland and scotland are on my places to visit....glad you had incredible weather too. didn't i hear that ireland is always cloudy?
ReplyDeleteThat library looks straight out of the Harry Potter movies! And I'm with you hot chocolate is definitely better than a Guiness, but when in Dublin, right.
ReplyDeleteEven though I don't drink beer at all, I had a sip of it in the tiny glass and then had someone else finish it and the free one you get at the end. Looks like you had such a blast! I loved seeing things I've been to or stood in front of, especially the temple bar because that's down where the fans were hanging out while we were in town. You had some sunny days, that's awesome!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh Dublin is in my top 5 future travel destinations because I love Irish culture and music!! Love that your husband got pulled up on stage, haha!
ReplyDeleteWow, Dublin looks like such a fun time! I'm not a fan of beer at all but think touring that brewery would be a lot of fun. Give me that hot chocolate, right now!
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed your recaps and the pictures. It looks like y'all had a blast!
ReplyDeleteLove these beautiful pictures!! You are such a stunner and I have no idea how you kept your hair looking so Kate Middleton the entire time. But....where is the video of you tasting Guinness?? That is GIF material right there!!
ReplyDeleteI want to visit Dublin just to tour the Guinness factory! I know what you mean about slowing down by the end of your trip. I love to travel, but by the last quarter of the trip I'm ready to go home and relax! Loved seeing your trip recaps :)
ReplyDeleteOut of all the cities you visited, I am most jealous about Dublin. ;) I think I was Irish in a past life. Because I LOVE all things Ireland! Ireland is my dream trip and number 1 on my travel list. I will get there one day!
ReplyDeletedublin! i'm going to read this to myself in an irish accent! not a beer fan, but KC truly looks SO happy at the guiness place! it's so sweet! i agree--a couple of days is all you need. i'm so bummed the trip recaps are over :( i loved them! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! I did Dublin in two days when I was in college, it was a whirlwind, but I really enjoyed the city. I was studying abroad in Spain, so the real nice part was being able to speak English and understand everything around me. We took a day trip one of the days through the Wicklow Mountains, the countryside was beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat HOT CHOCOLATE! YES :)
ReplyDeleteI love they pulled your guy to dance - so fun!
So I see you're in a jacket & sweater one day & short sleeves the next? Was the weather weird? Is it their spring?
Awwww... these pictures make me miss that beautiful place! Looks like you got fabulous weather!
ReplyDeleteIt would be so cool to go to Dublin one day. It is part of my heritage after all :) I am not a fan of Guinness in the least bit..but you just have to try it when you are there obviously! That hot chocolate you have looks so amazing. Mmmmm. Such an amazing trip you guys got to have!!
ReplyDeleteI so want to visit Dublin one day! You took such great pictures. And can we discuss how awesome your hair is? What is your secret to such great hair on vacation?? Mine always looks terrible on vaca.
ReplyDeleteDublin is totally doable in a day if you're moving it. We'll be hitting that next year as well, but I'm limiting our time there. I know my Dad will want to do Guinness and Jameson (ew) so we'll probably wind up doing a day and a half.
ReplyDeleteIreland is probably towards the top of my list. I love that he got pulled on stage. That is so fun! That hot chocolate looks soooo good! Great pictures as always.
ReplyDeleteWe want to go to Ireland, Scotland, and England for our honeymoon! I'd absolutely choose hot chocolate over Guinness (or any beer) any day! I LOVE your outfit with the striped shirt, scarf, and skirt! So cute!
ReplyDeleteIreland! My homeland! ;) I've always wanted to go to Europe and I've been loving seeing all of your photos - this last set does not disappoint (you next to the kangaroo? In love). Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to Dublin in November as I found some cheap flights :) I admit, it wasn't in my top list, but I'm always attracted to cheap flight destinations! Are trip is a similar amount of time and I'm looking forward to exploring the city.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely historic town, I can't wait to see it :)

I am drooling over that library!! So fun. Loved living through your trip lady and I'm kind of sad it's over. :( I can't imagine how you feel. lol. Hope you have a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, please don't be done talking about Europe! You make me believe that I actually will make my Europe trip a reality. Also yes, chocolatey hot chocolate every day over nasty Guinness.
ReplyDeleteFun! We did the Guinness Tour. We only spent most of 1 day in Dublin because, like you, it was the easiest to fly in and out of. None of us are beer drinkers, but we all choked down the Guinness, because it seemed like such an Irish thing to do! Oh, and we also tried blood pudding. (Ick) From the looks of things, you guys spent your time a little better than we did. :P
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to Ireland, but not Dublin per se... Outside of flying in and out of the country, that is. The Irish countryside looks so beautiful! How was the food there? I picture it being complete crap, just like in England. Man, their food is garbage. Beans for breakfast?! On cold toast? With fatty meat they call bacon (NOT bacon) AND sausage? No wonder they're all fat! Nasty.
ReplyDeleteThat was my pregnant rant about foreign food for the day. You're welcome.
I was surprised at how much I liked Dublin, because it also wasn't really on my list. I didn't pay to go inside the library, but looking at your pics, I sort of wish I had! Now, next time you go to Ireland, you have GOT to go into the countryside. As much as I liked Dublin, there's a magic out there in those fields!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are amazing! It looks like you guys just and the best time. Your time at Guiness looks like a blast.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little city Dublin is! Your Guinness video on Insta had me dying. That face was priceless - and exactly how mine probably looks when sipping that god awful stuff haha. Happy weekend, love!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Guiness either, but I'd love to tour their brewery how fun! And how cute is that little tiny glass?! You guys lucked out with beautiful weather too, I always thought it was rainy and dreary there.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday gurlie <3
Dublin looks like a lot of fun!! I love that picture of you and KC with those hats on - so cute!!! And you're definitely not alone, I'd go a hot chocolate over a Guiness any day!! Xx
ReplyDeleteOh so cool! Love all of the beautiful buildings! Plus your hair game is on point, just thought you should know. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG I love crunchies!!! Sorry, back to your trip. Dublin looks like a super fun city to visit. I would love the Guinness brewery tour.
ReplyDeleteTHAT. CAKE. OMG.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a wonderful time! I love your photos, you guys are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm really jealous, once again, but this time it's not because you went to Dublin (not one of my top places to see either, although I'd certainly enjoy it!)...it's because you got to wear that gray long sleeve tunic. And a coat. In the summer. And I would definitely go with hot chocolate over a Guinness too!
ReplyDeleteWow I had no idea that Dublin had such beautiful landmarks, I've only ever wanted to go there for Guiness but it looks like there is so much to see!! Love all the photos!
ReplyDeleteI freakin' loved Dublin. Like you, it was a TOP priority city, but after going to many European cities, it is one of my faves. It is the ONLY city where I've ever been when I was at a rail station looking at a map and a local asked if I needed help with directions. Small random acts of kindness like that make such an positive impact. Plus, the history of the Irish people is so full of interesting stories. The architecture and food were both wonderful. I really, really liked it (can you tell?), and I was only there for 3 or 4 days too.
ReplyDelete(edit, Erin, edit) I meant it was NOT a TOP priority city...until I went there.
Deletebasically I just need your life (or to fit in your carry on!) xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Was it colder there? You look more bundled up! Yumm to the hot chocolate and that CAKE! :)
ReplyDeleteCan I like sneak into your carry on? I think if I shed a few pounds I may fit. :D
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a blast. I LOVE your outfit in the last photos! So cute :)

I don't know if I ever would have put Dublin on a bucket list either, but it looks like a really wonderful last leg of your Europe trip! Really beautiful shots and aw, KC in the Aus shirt :)
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you aren't a giant?! That hot chocolate looks so yummy! What a good sport KC is to go along with getting up on stage. My fella would be petrified, I'm sure. I have a feeling he would completely freeze up. Ireland, in general, is on my list to visit, mainly to see the village my family came from.
ReplyDeletelooks like such a fun spot! im glad you guys were able to go at the end of your trip so you could take your time wandering around and it wasnt too large of a city to visit. Im not a guinness fan at allll so i'd probably skip that part but i'd be all over the hot chocolate ;) xo jillian
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you still had fun even though it wasn't one of your top destinations! It looks so pretty there - you definitely saw a lot in a short amount of time. I am cracking up at the picture of you with the harp, and how fun that your hubs got pulled up on stage - definitely something neither of you will ever forget!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun city to explore! I can definitely see why 2 days would be enough there though. I bet driving around in the countryside would be very fun too!
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard at the end of a trip but it looks like you still got to see a lot of the city. I am not a fan of Guinness either so I am with you!
ReplyDeleteLooks super fun!!! I would love to visit Ireland. Gorgeous. Good tip about the city vs. going out into the country though! Also, the stripes + skirt + floral scarf is adorable. I pinned it. Glad you guys had so much fun!! :) XO -Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Looks (and sounds) like you guys had a really fun time! Super cute outfits, girly! And that margarita looking mason jar drink looks DELISH! A big part of me really wants to visit Ireland but I'd love to see like some of the smaller towns and the country side maybe... like rent a car and drive around a bit?
ReplyDeleteHaha! I talked about our Italy trip fooooorever. ;) I definitely understand reliving it for as long as you can. It looks like Dublin was lots of fun! I've never been there, but I'd love to go someday. :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous! You look adorable, and it looks like y'all had a great time!! I think going to the Guinness place would be the highlight of my husband's life too. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'd like to go to Ireland at some point (and after seeing your lovely pictures, I feel like it might be a little more worth it than I originally thought!), but it's not one of my top priority locations either. I'm the kind of person who wants to see as much of the world as possible, so I can imagine going there in the future (especially since my husband has mentioned it a few times!), but I'd like to cross a few more places off my list first!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! I'm going backwards on your posts so I look forward to reading about the other days in your trip! Beautiful pictures of all the sights you seen!
ReplyDeleteCory wants to make a whole trip out of just Ireland. He wants to do the whole countryside tour but I'm with you, it's not on the top of my list. But it looks like so much fun. Was it cold there?
ReplyDeleteAlso, will you be sharing about where y'all stayed?? Loved reading your recaps!
hah, yeah- a Guinness isn't my fave either but I would try one there. PS Conan O'Brien did a REALLY funny bit on the Guinness factory and it's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThis looks BEAUTIFUL! I love everything. Truly.
This looks amazing!! I cant wait to visit one day. Love all the beautiful photos girlie!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great fun in Dublin.
