Favourite reason I live in Louisville
Derby is one of my favourite times of year. It's not just the Derby, it's a whole festival and goes on for weeks. But the highlight is definitely Derby and we had an amazing time - see more here. I'll be coming at you with a guide to Derby here soon if anyone has it on their bucket list!
Favourite video
This is a few weeks old, but just in case you haven't seen it.. Please watch it. You don't need sound. It's less than 3 minutes. First off, I am always shocked that people on the internet can be so cruel and downright rude to people, but to someone like Cassey? She's obviously not fat and she seems like one of the nicest, happiest people in the world. If you don't like someone, go away. Why do people watch videos / follow people they don't like? Why do they tell people they are fat or ugly, does it make them feel better about themselves?
Regardless, the point of this video is more important than the haters. I know we have all looked in the mirror and been mean to ourselves at one point in our lives. I am so much better than I used to be and I hardly do it at all anymore. Because honestly? If I was given the chance to jump in a machine that would change this or that - I wouldn't. I like who I am and that includes what I look like. If I can't change it by eating right and exercising - it stays the same (sorry big hips and little boobs, you are here to stay!) and that is okay by me.
Favourite purchases
In March (told you it had been awhile), I went to TJ Maxx in search of new workout clothes. I love my Lorna Jane capris, but the full length leggings fall down when I run - and my Zella leggings from the Nordstrom sale last year might as well be a cat for all the hair they attract. Anyway, I found what I was looking for in these 90 Degree by Reflex pants. They were like $16 and they fit like a glove. I am in love, and ahem.. KC is a fan as well. Seriously, obsessed with these pants. I am not a 'bright colours or patterns' on the bottom kinda girl, because they stretch out and do not look cute at all (on me!). I am also normally very very against grey pants because they show sweat in a very unfortunate way. But I have worn these several times with no issues, and since they are mainly for yoga, I'm not worried. I found them on Amazon and I will grab some more soon, because the likelihood of finding them at TJ Maxx again is quite slim.
Least favourite anything
I have been watching Grey's Anatomy from the beginning. I know it needs to be over already but I've been watching it for so long that I'm not ready to say goodbye. I won't say why I'm upset in case of spoilers, but lets just say this was me:
Meanwhile, I'm still not over Lexie. This was several seasons ago so it's not like this is a spoiler, okay?
Seriously right now.
Is this the last season? It should be. I'll have to go through and rewatch it all from the beginning soon. Sigh, young Grey.
I've learned so much from Grey's.
Favourite movie.
KC and I don't actually watch a lot of movies because we can never agree on anything, plus he only allows P&P once a year. Anyway, we recently watched Nightcrawler - really, really, really odd. But good.
Favourite book.
I have read a lot of good books recently (and some not so great) and I will share all of them next Tuesday, but I wanted to quickly throw Unbroken out there. It's non-fiction, which is not usually my jam but the writing was wonderful. I actually listened to it, it was read by Edward Herrmann (Rory's grandpa) and he of course, did a marvelous job. I really can't do this book justice, but if World War 2 is something you are interested in or know nothing about, or if you are looking for a book to inspire, uplift and amaze you - this is it. You can buy it here - not an affiliate link, cross my heart.
Ps. You guys know how Target puts 20% stickers on all their books? I always thought 'well, gee, that's a bit weird to always have a 20% sale on books' but it's because they aren't really 20% off, they are just 20% off the price on the back of the book. Which I guess is still 20% off but that's trickery right there, and I don't appreciate it.
Favourite babies!
Two of my besties had their babies recently and I am so happy for them. Thankfully, Kate didn't steal either of my baby names so we are still besties. My other bestie welcomed her 3rd and he's just cute as a button.
Anyway, I think that's enough for now until next time! Have a great weekend everyone.
I cannot wait for your Derby guide! I love, love, love the Derby (well, horse racing in general). It is definitely on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteUnbroken! Ah! So good. And how cute are you at the Derby?! I love it. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about Night Crawler - he just plays creepy so well!!! Thank you for sharing that video - it's so important to just love ourselves...but easier said than done!! I hope you have a great weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your Derby guide, going to the Derby is on my bucket list. I so want to read Unbroken, I have heard all good things about it. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI really hope it's the last season. I used to watch Grey's religiously up until my freshman year of college. That was the season where in the premier Izzie had to save a deer with the new interns. I have seen a few here & there since so I know it got better than that season but after that I just didn't care enough to keep up with it. I want to be able to watch it from start to finish on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteYeah!!!! So happy to have you linked up today!!! That 90 degree line is fantastic! They have some really great pieces and they hold up great!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love Pumba from the Lion King, one of my all time fav Disney characters! And still loving your Derby pics and recaps! So much fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday gurlie <3
I stopped watching Grey's a little while back, I'm glad simply because I'm not sure I can handle what is going on right now! :(
ReplyDeleteI used to watch Grey's in college but fell off a while ago with so many shows out there. Unbroken is hands down on of (if not the) best book I ever read! I haven't seen the movie but apparently it just didn't do the film justice. Love baby Charlotte and of course Kate is just freaking perfect per usual ha. I MUST go to the Derby one year. I can't believe I've never been! Happy weekend, friend :)
ReplyDeleteThat video was very powerful, and it's sad that we are always thinking in that matter (if I could only be slimmer here, blah blah blah). And seriously, that girl was absolutely beautiful before the changes!
ReplyDeleteKate totally took my baby name :p which is why we didn't pick it a few months ago! Also, I need a bit more time and space between her going home pictures and mine. Because good grief. She's a goddess.
ReplyDeleteWe saw Unbroken in theatres and it was really good- I'd love to read it sometime as well.
Okay Bloglovin is being a jerk and I didn't see your post in my feed but DON'T WORRY I MADE IT. Okay that video, jeez. Never saw it before; thanks for sharing. Things like that remind me of why I write some of the things I do and why I choose my language very carefully when speaking to women who want to discuss their bodies or weights or diets, etc. Good reminder.
ReplyDeleteALSO, re: the next item after that, don't go buying anything just yet, k? :)
I thought of you when I went to see what Kate named the princess. I love the name she picked, always have, but I'm relieved yours remained safe ;)
I swear people are the worst on the Internet about putting others down its just sad! Loving those yoga pants! I swear TJMaxx is the best for work out gear! Omg I stopped watching Greys a few seasons ago because I just couldn't take crying like every episode!! I did hear what just happened though! Craziness and I seriosuly was so mad about Lexie! I loved her character! That's when I stopped watching haha!! Have a great weekend!

Upbeat Soles
I want to see that movie but Ian says it looks too weird. Might need to watch it on my own. And I agree about the video. I loved it and it made me so mad that people are just horrible bullies on the internet. It's like they forget it's a real human being behind the pictures
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I really enjoyed Cassey's video and admire her for putting that together. I also do not understand why someone follows someone they hate?? Do you have nothing else to do? It's funny because I just read an article about a TV show (American Idol) and there were a bunch of comments under the article about "Why is this show on the air still?" and then people were replying "Why are you reading an article and commenting about a show you don't even watch?" I really don't get people who have that much time and energy to put into hating something. I prefer to fill my time with the people and things I love. <3
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for your Derby guide since it's definitely on my bucket list! And this way, if I don't ever end up making it to one, I can live vicariously through you! Congrats to your besties on all of the baby excitement! Have a great weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am on a mission to start watching Grey's Anatomy from the beginning, I have only ever seen episodes here and there, it looks emotional though haha.
ReplyDeleteNightcrawler was a trip! We liked it though. I usually fall asleep in movies when we start them too late, and even though this was a "late start" movie I stayed wide awake! Shoutout to your friends for not taking your baby names! That's a serious crime.
ReplyDeleteOh sweet sweet babies. I love this. Sadly a little more invested in the royal family than I thought I would be.... but I think I'm ok with it now. :) XO -Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Awww your friend's baby is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhile I've never watched Grey's Anatomy, I know all about intense tv feels. It looks like maybe someone died on the show, that's just the worst :(
Mili
We were looking for a book at Target for Mother's Day but it was like $10 more than what I got it for at b&n, I was like nooope, not happening! haha I've heard good things about Unbroken-- and that the movie left out the entire ending, though I haven't seen it. I love a good TJM find-- those pants look awesome and you can't beat the price! Can't wait for your Derby guide!
ReplyDeleteI used to be OBSESSED with Grey's for the first couple of seasons... then it started getting weird. Remember when Denny died and whatsherface would see his "ghost" or something like that. #BYE
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read Unbroken yet but it is in my list, perhaps this summer. And my sister's and I all battle for baby names and only one of us is actually married and ready for kids sooooo....haha it can get heated though. Dibs is a real thing lol. And can't wait for the Derby guide. I wasn't able to go this year I had to work last minute and I was NOT a happy lady.
ReplyDeleteUgh thanks to the internets (side eye, twitter) AND the ABC commercials on the radio (which blatantly said what happened, awesome) I am fully spoiled. But I went home over the weekend and my mom and sister wanted to watch the newest episode so I did--and I'm like...where's the cast? I've been re-watching old greys while getting ready in the mornings and I miss the originals! But I'm also still not over lexie. UGH!
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up, your "related" posts at the end of each post isn't in English. It looks Arabic..
ReplyDeleteI have really been wanting to watch Grey's Anatomy but hospital shows literally freak me out. I am thinking I should just bite the bullet and WATCH IT!
I really love Grey's and still am not over Lexie/Soan dying either. It makes me so sad! I heard that this season was kind of weird because they had to make it so for the person that was leaving. Don't want to give any spoilers in case you aren't caught up. Who knows that. Revenge is ending and that makes me sad, but it has no where else to go right now.
ReplyDeleteI still can't even talk about Grey's....
ReplyDeleteI heard they were signed one for 1 more year....
You two were so pretty for the Derby!! I haven't read that book but I love the author. I love me some Jake so I have to pick up the movie sometimes soon!
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching Grey's years ago but I know most people are like WTF end it now.
ReplyDeleteGrey's has been kicking me in the feelz the entire season (which I've only started watching the past week or so). I truly have no idea how I would have managed if I was watching it in real time and had to deal with a week between episodes. I know of the spoiler, but I haven't gotten there yet. I'm just getting through the April/Avery stuff and it's breaking my heart. ALL.THE.FEELZ... and Cristina is missing and I have a hole in my heart.
ReplyDeleteI love the name Charlotte and it's one of my top picks but it's gotten pretty popular even before Kate used it :) sighhhh about Grey's. I haven't watched this season because I usually watch them all at once during the summer but I saw the spoilers like the next morning and don't even know if I can watch now. *sobs*
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the name Charlotte since Charlotte's Web (haha) but now I don't think I could name my future baby that - I feel like everyone will think it's just a copy name! And my husband just read Unbroken and really liked it, definitely stealing it from him!
ReplyDeleteNightcrawler looked really good, might have to check it out! Also definitely checking out those leggings you mentioned!
ReplyDeleteBahaha...so glad y'all are still besties :) I just don't even know what to think about Grey's anymore. I'm not sure I'll still be in to it {but who are we kidding?} I'm just tired of all my favorite characters leaving! And that video...woah! That's powerful stuff. People are just so cruel. I don't even understand it!
ReplyDeleteThat derby pic is everything!! I never got into Greys but everyone seems to be over it with that hot mess of a disaster.
