March Results / April Goals

Ah, March begone and hello April.

Life According to Steph

Let's be real, I did absolutely nothing in March. No goals were achieved. I'm just gonna pretend it didn't happen, and hey April!

Well, I did alter 2 pairs of pants, did stuff with KC once a week (not exciting stuff, but stuff just the same) and called my mum and nana once each (last weekend). Everything else was a big fat o failure.

So April, how you gonna be? I'm keeping it real vague so hopefully the goals are easier to meet:

General goals:

- Make a few freezer meals for my friend. See said friend and harass her and her new baby when he shows up. I'm so excited!!
- Read some books. Because I never do that.
- Send a gift to my bestie at home who is pregnant with her 2nd and says she doesn't need anything. Thoughts?
- Run a bunch.
- Lift some weights and do some yoga.
- Eat well.
- Lose weight. I am normally okay with whatever the scale says so this is just a general 'fit back into your clothes before you go broke buying new ones because nothing fits' which is basically also a finance goal.
- Make new recipes. At least one? Come on Kristen.
- Spring clean the shit out of my house and closet.
- At work, do more work and less blogging.

Finance goals:

- Sell stuff on eBay.
- Save for Europe / separate Europe $$ from normal savings.
- Don't use any credit cards, hopefully pay some off, but at the very least, don't use them.
- Don't buy a damn thing.
- That includes eating out for lunch, Kristen!

What you got going on, world?

  1. Ugh I need to seriously jump on your fitness goals. I have been SO bad lately.... eating candy for breakfast, snacking on brownies... and then not even going to the gym. Yikes. And even though you didn't complete any goals for March, April is a new month! March no longer counts :)

  2. I literally just sat down today and reworked my fitness plans for this month. I was good last month, but homegirl needs to shed some pounds before going home next month. Oh April, be good to us all, please and thank you. xx

  3. Loving your health and fitness goals, I may just need to co-sign that! As for your friend who's pregnant with her 2nd and insisting she doesn't need anything, why don't you get her some mom stuff. Maybe a pre-natal massage or a pass for pre-natal yoga? There's so many cute mom-wine glasses out there like "mom's sippy cup", etc :)

  4. I didn't really do my goals either, and I only had 2! My poor dog. No attention for you.

Spring cleaning is on my to do list, and in general just exercising more and getting back on track for my couch to half plan.

  5. Love your idea of general goals -- who's got time to be specific?!? Plus, makes them seem so much easier to accomplish! I also need to spend more time working at work and less blogging -- oops.

  6. Don't buy anything should definitely be on my list. I bought the crap out of everything in March.

  7. Great goals! A nice mix of health, finance and fun. I definitely need to start saving money this month. Also I want to try some new recipes. I'm getting tired of the same thing every day.

  8. You can do it lady! Sometimes we have a month that sticks but it's okay. You're getting back on the horse so that's a good thing. I suggest sending your bestie a gift card for a pedicure or spa something. I know many mamas that just want pretty toes but can't reach em.

  9. Your March sounds like my March. Good luck with April. Maybe send your friend a gift basket to pamper herself?

  10. Haha! Love your goals. Not having to buy new clothes because you have to is a good reason to stick to the fitness goals, count me in.

  11. It's so sweet you are making freezer meals for your pregnant friend! That is a pregger's dream! Haha. I liked the above gifts that are for her {especially pre-natal massage}, but something monogrammed for baby would be sweet or something for her baby that the two of you share like a onesie from a restaurant or place that you both love along with a gift card or something. I think personalization is key when mom's 'don't want anything'.

  12. I'm not fitting in my clothes either. But I just don't have the willpower to do anything about it. So I just complain.

  13. My main goal is to get fit, I have been feeling so sluggish and unhealthy this year and now it is spring and teh weather is nicer I have no excuse not to get outside and go for a run!

  14. For your long distance friend, I would send her some stuff for her. Books, nail polish, comfy pjs, stuff like that. And for your local friend, freezer meals are going to be a huge help.

I, too, am in the "I must lose weight to expand my wardrobe because I am too broke to buy a lot of new clothes" camp. It's definitely a finance goal!

    1. be careful if you send nail polish to pregnant women. most brands have phthalates in them which can cause defects in developing fetuses (in particular male fetuses. it interferes with their reproductive organ development) i never knew about it until one of my friends who's a physician assistant brought it up. i found a list of phthalate free brands here http://www.taryncoxthewife.com/the-wife-guide-non-toxic-nail-polish/

    2. and sorry not trying to be one of "those" people who tells everyone everything they're doing is causing cancer or whatever... it's just not something a lot of people are aware could potentially do harm. there are lots of brands that are readily available and pthalate free at target or walgreens (like my favorite, Essie!) living in his world is so exhausting with all the do's and don'ts, especially for pregnant women :/

  15. You did not do bad on your March goals, but I understand the feeling. March was finally my better month. April will be your's :) It's getting nicer out so that should help, right? Best of luck in April!

  16. haha yes the exercise/finance goal, that old chestnut. that's the story of my life here. I don't want a pair of nice work pants that I paid to get tailored go to waste because I'm too lazy to do a few crunches here and there. and as for your friend, idk if shes ever had problems while she's sleeping and pregnant but all of my pregnant friends swore by the snoogle. maybe she'd like that?

  17. I need to get back on Ebay & sell some stuff myself. I have a LOT of stuff!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I did terrible with my March goals too. April will be MUCH better ( I hope...)

I've been selling pretty much everything I own - I no longer have a winter wardrobe at all. My bank account is going to hate me this fall when I have to restock it haha

I love the idea of making freezer meals for your friend!

  19. I am with you on the trying to fit back into my clothes goal. I didn't link up today because I am focused more on fitness/health right now than financial things. We need a grill for our house and I need a few new clothing items to get me by so it is hard to say dont spend with that going on! haha! good luck this month!

  20. hahahaa spring cleaning the shit out of the house and closet. yes. I have a whole area of our guest room dedicated to stuff to sell on ebay, I should add that to my goal list too!

  21. I can totally relate as once again, my "spend/shop less" went totally out the window this month! I did pretty good with my healthy eating though! I'm confident with Spring finally here and warmer weather we will both do better and more motivation this month! Haha!! G

  22. For the back-home bestie, maybe send her some stuff so she can have "me time?" With a kid and one on the way she's probably always at someone else's mercy so send some fancy lotion, bath salts (can pregnant women take baths? That might be a dumb question...), yummy decaf tea, a deep conditioning hair mask, stuff like that. Stuff to help her be her, and not just a mommy and wife for a little bit! :)

Good goals for April. I'm working my way through a big spring clean too. And I know you can do the credit card thing! Can I get an update??

  23. I really need to get my finances in order! Selling stuff on ebay is awesome and i need to get back into it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Instead of limiting myself to not eating out (which is so hard!), I try to have a $100 budget for eating out with co-workers and then only once a week with the family. Good luck with your finances in April!

  25. Lifts some weights and do some yoga. I like those plans a lot! Oh girl I have a total ebay pile that I still haven't gotten to!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes I totally second or third or millionth the suggestions to send her something for herself. I have never had a baby and I'm also pretty selfish, but that is something I think I'd like to have. I also don't know anything about babies or what they need so those are the kinds of gifts I like to give to my mom friends.
I have had stuff to sell on eBay since before Christmas! I should go do that like...right now. I probably won't, but I should!

  27. I love seeing other peoples goals! You got this girly!!

  29. Why do you want to do less blogging at work?!
I have been doing simple new recipes lately with the warmer weather - tonight I made 2 new recipes in under 30 minutes. (1 was super healthy the other so-so)

  30. Not eating out is such a good goal. Good luck!!!!

  31. I like these goals. They sound very reasonable and practical! For your pregnant friend, I suggest a little pampering like a pedicure gift certificate! It gets very uncomfortable to do your own feet when you're pregnant and who doesn't like to sit back and relax in those little massage chairs??

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm SO excited about your yoga endeavors! Did you decide on a mat? I'd have jumped right in with an expensive one so I only would have to buy it once, but I totally get that it's a big $$ commitment.

And send your pregs friend a gift certificate to a spa for a prenatal massage. Forget the next baby, she probably does have everything she needs - do something for HER!

  33. Spring cleaning is high on my list right now. Our loft, which is supposed to be my relaxing yoga/meditation zone, is looking anything but zen right now! I also have so many items to list on ebay that I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start lol I think this is going to be our month though!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I really hope you meet your financial goals, b/c I succkkkk at meeting mine. So hopefully at least one of us will get it right this month, haha. I love the at work goal of doing more actual work, hahaha.

    ReplyDelete
  35. First off, this is why I love you - so real - you didnt do it and no bullshit you just said that. Anyhoo I sucked as well. I wrote an entire post about my goals and then didnt even remember to post it. I just didnt remember. I think until my final thesis is handed in, in may, I will be a hot mess blogger. I give up the fight haha (I say this as I sit trying to read last weeks posts in the middle of the night which is the only time I ever have free ha!)

  36. HA! More work, less blogging. Foreign concept. Case in point: I'm at work right now. :)
Have fun spring cleaning! And with the rest of your goals.

  37. Do more work and less blogging...I'm totally with you on that one! It's when I get the majority of mine done! My best friend is having baby #2 this summer and I'm stumped as what to get her. She did mention she wanted one of those baby wrap/carrying things but where do you even start?!

    Good luck with April goals!
