28 facts about a 28 year old

Because, why not. Officially 28 (and a few days..) now. I actually have the day off today because it snowed a bunch so the office got closed. Boom.

1. I was born with black hair, it changed to blonde before I turned one.

2. I love onions.

3. I drive with my left foot up on the seat (except when I drive manual, obviously).

4. I like even numbers.

5. My nose bleeds all the time. When I'm hot, when I'm cold, when I'm in salt water, when I get in chlorine, when I get hit in the face with a ball, when I blow my nose too much...

6. I'm almost always cold.

7. My favourite dessert is pavlova.

8. My favourite meal is anything my mum cooks.

9. I was born in a place called Kew.

10. I have split my head open twice.

11. I don't drink soda.

12. I had an operation when I was 6 weeks old for something that wasn't actually wrong with me, but I have a scar the length of my stomach to show for that nothingness.

13. I have celiac (or coeliac but I hate that spelling) disease.

14. Are you actually reading these?

15. My middle name is Lee, which is my mummy's name.

16. I have low blood pressure. It's a family thing.

17. My first job was McDonalds which I swore I wouldn't work there, but I loved it and it really brought me out of my shell. I worked there for 5 years and was a manager.

18. I crashed my mum's car whilst trying to get out of a parking spot.

19. I have never had a migraine in my life, a doctor told me once it was because of the nose bleeds. I have probably had a proper headache less than 10 times in my life.

20. I played netball up until year 6, and then sporadically as an adult before I moved to the US.

21. I get really bad allergies (why do I have cats?) and rub my eyes so much I have no idea how I still have any skin there.

22. I have 4 half sisters and 2 brothers. My mum has 3 siblings and all of them (including my mum) have 3 kids each, so I have 9 cousins.

23. I type super fast.

24. I read faster than I type.

25. I have never liked Valentines Day because it's too close to my birthday.

26. Up until I was about 11, I thought I could be a princess when I grew up - like it was a choice, something you could do at university or whatever. That was a rude awakening.

27. I hate air conditioning.

28. When I'm sick, I like to hold things. Tissues, water bottles, stuffed animals.. they make me feel better.

Well there's me! I only have 2 years to complete by 30 before 30 list, it seems a lot closer than it was yesterday.

I would like you to have a drink in my honour tonight. You're welcome.

  4. McDonald's was my first job too! I only worked there for about 2 years, but I actually enjoyed it too. Just the people not the actual work though ha!

  5. Wait is today the day? Not as important of course but today is my half birthday so that kinda makes me as cool right? lol Happy Birthday friend!!

  6. Hey, I have low blood pressure too! Do you faint all the time like me? I've learned to control the fainting. I also can read faster than I can type, and I was a professional writer for 10 years. See, I WAS reading your list! :)

  7. Love this! Never had a migraine?! Lucky!!! They suck! Not gunna lie....I looked up what net ball is LOL

  8. Oh you, of course we actually read these! All of them! I am curious about why you hate air conditioning??! I personally like the feel of natural air so we have windows and doors open often around here, but when it gets hot, hallelujah for A/C!

  9. I am so jealous you've never had a migraine! I used to get them ALL the time in high school and college to the point where I'd have to miss school. Not so much any more, thankfully. Why on earth did they do surgery for no reason? Please tell me they at least thought something was wrong?! Haha I love the princess thing. Wait, you can't just choose to be a princess? Darn it! Happy Monday girl!

  10. "When I'm sick, I like to hold things." I don't know why but that made me laugh out loud. And the princess thing--could you imagine if that was an actual course? Would anyone choose anything else? Love these, lovely!

  11. Happy Birthday! This is such a fun post! I love that you thought you could become a princess when you grew up! I mean, why not, right??

    ReplyDelete
  12. Low blood pressure right here too; always freaks nurses out! Also, I can not picture you working at McDonald's at all, but I love it! Happy Almost Birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Happy birthday! I am also an infamous nose bleeder! It's the worst. I wish I had done the 30 before 30, I opted for the 101 in 1001 and that is SOOOO not enough time to get anything done...

    ReplyDelete
  14. 14 - yes I am - did I pass the test? Happy Birthday! I am almost always cold too - it's probably something genetic or something..

    ReplyDelete
  15. HAHAhA! I loved #14! Perfect!

Can I say that's super cool you worked at McDonalds!? That's so awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was reading all of them!! Loved learning more about you and Gary always comments about how fast I type and read lol! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  17. OK - not fair... I have nose bleeds ALL the time... AND headaches. Not cool!
& yes, I read them all too :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. It was fun to learn more about you! I'm always cold, too. I don't know if I'd be able to make it without soda (or as I call it pop), though:)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I've heard of pavlova but had no idea what it was until I googled it and it sounds delicious! Boo to nose bleeds but so amazing to rarely get headaches! And if only being a princess was a college major :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Happy Birthday! I love learning random facts about people! I may have to do this on my birthday :)
Oh and 3,6, and 11 we have in common!

    ReplyDelete
  21. 14 made me laugh. Of course I'm actually reading them! I'm not sure if I'd trade headaches for nose bleeds. I'm pretty sure I've only had a bloody nose once in my life...if even that. You know, you could've gone all Kate Middleton & gone to a university, met a real life prince, got married, & BAM! Princess!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh gosh, I rarely ever get headaches either so I am such a wimp when I do get them. I would hate to find out what a migraine feels like. Too funny about the princess thing. If only it worked that way!

    ReplyDelete
  23. 2. Me too. Gimme dem red onions.
    3. ME TOO! Or wedged up against the door.
    4. Me too. Or multiples of 5.
    5. I started getting nosebleeds this winter! I think it's because this apartment has radiator heating, which makes the air *so* dry. Ick.
    7. What?
    10. OMG! Stories please.
    11. Me neither. I'm so proud of you for kicking this habit a few months ago!
    12. Holy crap. Story please, again.
    14. Yes ma'am.
    16. Heh. It's high in my family. Except me, I have perfect BP. Whenever this comes up at family gatherings I feel the need to point out I haven't lived with a member of that side of the family since I was 12 and that's probably why my BP isn't as high as theirs.
    19. Wanna trade lives? I got headaches up to like 6 days a week for over a decade. Still get migraines and tension headaches, but way less. (Thanks to my chiro ;))
    23. At my last check I typed 78 wpm. Now I want to recheck.
    25. Me neither, but because it's stupid.
    26. That's adorable and precious.
    27. ME TOO.
    29. I did this point by point because I knew you wouldn't mind. <3

  24. Totally with you on the princess thing! I really thought it was a career option!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great list! I always feel the need to hold something when i am a sick too, it is comforting

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd really love to see how fast you actually read. It's fascinating to me!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love onions too lol. I am always cold and read super fast also. lol xo

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh my gosh the professional princess one cracks me up!! Too funny. :) Hope you had a fab bday weekend lady!

    ReplyDelete
  29. You are so lucky to never have headaches! When I was born my hair was so blonde it looked like I was bald until I was like 3. My mom use to put big ribbons in my hair so people wouldn't think I was bald, I think instead it just made it looks like I was magical with ribbons floating above my head :)

  30. I read each and everyone of those, thank you very much! I have a problem with nose bleeds as well. It is so dang annoying!! I have bad allergies too. boo! My first job was at Kirklands, where I worked for 6 years and became a manager as well.

I hope you had an amazing birthday weekend!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Number 26 made me laugh and say awww at the same time. Adorable! Hope you enjoyed your birthday! My work was canceled today too, so I'm celebrating with a bloody mary and now in your honor too!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love onions, too. Only they have to be cooked. I cannot eat raw onions or I weep like I watched a puppy die.

I'm very jealous of the fact that you've never had a migraine.

Hope you had a great birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Fun list!!! I will definitely have a drink in your honor!!!
Interesting about the nose bleeds and lack of migraines. My youngest son gets nose bleeds a lot, too - thankfully he is great about dealing with them now.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love your facts! Pavlova is amazing (also, I recently learned it is named after a Russian prima ballerina. What the heck? Haha). I split my head open once, and it was terrible, so I can't imagine doing it twice! Number 14 cracked me up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ha! I like even numbers too. I WISH I didn't drink soda, but my husband loves it so it's so hard to NOT drink it when I open the fridge and *BAM* it's right there in my face. grrr...

  36. I always thought I could be a princess too. Didn't occur to me until it was pointed out how unlikely it would be. Pavlova sounds yummy... I have never had that! Happy Birthday!

  37. I like onions and even numbers too! Happy OFFICIAL birthday!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  38. I read all of them!!! I love onions as well... AND my niece was also born with black black hair and then it went to REALLY blonde!

    ReplyDelete
  39. You hate air conditioning? Say what?!? It's one of life's greatest inventions as far as I'm concerned.

My birth certificate says red, then turned blonde, then kinda dirty blonde. Now, I bounce back and forth between various shades of red and blonde.

  40. My middle name was almost Lee, after my grandpa, but my dad didn't want "a cake" for a daughter--Sarah Lee. Hahahaa

  43. Haha these are gold!! Love the princess one - what a sad day that must have been realising you couldn't actually just become a princess! I'm almost always cold too (like right now? Freezing my butt off!) and I played netball in primary school too. I was (am) a little shorty so was never a shooter but WA was my jam!

  44. I'm totally hating on you for never having a migraine before. Hate, hate, hate! And I love how you thought you could be a professional princess. If only!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nose bleeds, head splitting, I'm learning a lot about you! I love the princess one, I've only had a migraine like 3 times and don't really get headaches, so thankful! Even in Florida I'm almost always cold, so I always try to bring a sweater or jacket if I'm not wearing sleeves. It's just smart dressing.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Happy late birthday!! I loved all these facts! I am exactly the same way when I'm sick -- I don't care what I'm holding as long as something is in my hands!

    ReplyDelete
  47. ah about your nose! I had a friend who did that all growing up and she had such a rhythm to dealing with it.

I love onions too- especially sauteed with bell pepper yum.

And I drive with my left food up too! but on the dash like a freak. everyone always comments on it, I don't even notice putting it up anymore.

    and yes to #14~!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh man I love this! Umm can I make my nose bleed so I never have to have headaches!? That's so strange! I don't drink soda either! Maybe once in a blue moon! My husband has really bad allergies too and he always says the same thing! Why do we have pets haha!

  49. 14. Yes!

The nosebleeds sound pretty sucky, but maybe it's worth it for no headaches? I don't know, I'd have to think about whether I'd rather have pain or to worry about a mess spewing from my face. Like a game of "would you rather"!

  51. looks like i'm not the only one who has problems in a parking lot :) wouldn't it be nice if you could major in becoming a princess?! and I have really bad allergies too (which is why we can't have cats) and I can totally relate to the eyes! Hope you had a great birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I almost could have been reading about myself - yes to so many of these especially 2, 4, 11 and 23! And why can't we all be princesses?! There should definitely be a major for that. Happy Birthday pretty lady, I hope you had a great day! :)

  53. I think its so good for anyone to work in the food industry once in their life. So crazy about that operation you had!

    ReplyDelete

  55. So much alike it isnt funny!! haha I love onions too. In fact thats why I probably shouldnt cook for people I cook with a LOT of onions. I type crazy fast and read even faster than that! I have to like AC though ... Because Caribbean heat (much like Oz heat) is no bloody joke! haha

    ReplyDelete
  56. I FRIGGIN' ADORE ONIONS TOO! Cooked onions though - I cannot do raw at all! I forgot about onions but then I realized I had a huge one in my pantry that had been there for like uhhhhhh 5 months, LOL - so I finally roasted it and now.... I cannot stop! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  57. i'll trade you nosebleeds for the headaches! ;) jk. hope you had a wonderful bday! i'm getting caught up on everything on my end.

  58. You don't look 28 at all. I thought you were younger. Good genes. I'm always cold too but that's because of my anemia. My hands & feet have poor circulation so they get warm. It sucks in the winter because my hand hurts all the time. Loved reading your fun facts about you. Hope you have a good weekend :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I didn't realize that you were a manager at McDonald's! I worked there for about 2 years and loved it too, I also found that it brought me out of my shell :) Onions are yummmmm! And I love AC.. I can't sleep if I'm too hot. Great list! As always :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. haha I love how you are always funny even when recounting some other things! And I got to say that I also love pavlova!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I feel like we are seriously SO much alike! Well, except for the no pop and hating air conditioning... I go through a 12 pack every couple of days and I've been known to use the air conditioner even in winter months! lol
