In true year in the life fashion, I wanted to share the year with you. Perhaps you follow along already and will see things you have already seen. I know most people did these in December, and split up, but I wanted to keep it together like my previous years.
I started my blog in 2013, but I didn't really start blogging until February of this year. I finally started commenting and joining link ups and discovered this blogging community everyone was talking about. My old posts are pretty embarrassing, but whatever. It went from a wannabe fashion blog to very buzzfeed like very quickly.. I like to think I have now found my voice, albeit directionless, and the buzzfeed like posts aren't as common.
I started a new job in February. Sometime in January I'd had enough of the bank I was working at and put in my 2 weeks right then and there. I'm not the kind of person who quits without having another job lined up, so you know it was bad. I almost got a job at a public school but my Australia trip conflicted with their summer and I couldn't accept the job.. worked out for the best because I love the job I have now.
I met Matt Smith & Karen Gillan in March, making 2014 the year of the Doctor. Get it?! No? Ok.
We completed our first - and only, so far - big project to the house. KC completely ripped up the carpet and replaced with pretty flooring in the living room & hallway. Oh and we painted, got rid of that hideous yellow (it was way uglier in person I promise).
I ran a not so great half marathon.
We had the best of times at the KY Derby, a friend from out of town came in and it was so fun.
And super classy.
I was able to spend time with family and my very best friends.
When we came back to KY, we went to a wedding and I fell in love with RTR all over again.
KC's cousin had a little boy who we all fell crazy in love with.
Celebrated 4th of July 'small town usa' style.
We went out a few times.
Ok maybe more than a few. I only fell on my head once though.
Crazy cat family party of.. one family.
Luau party? Don't mind if we do.
One day I will learn that neither painting or wine are my friends. But it was not this day, apparently.
We went on a girls trip! We went and visited the girl who came down for Derby and did lots of fun stuff. All the fun was had.
We did some stuff around Louisville, including the Highlands Fest. I've lived here since 2012 and I'm starting to feel - just a little - like a local.
I ran another half marathon - this one was better than the last but still not great.
Oh and we had a Halloween party. It was my first ever party and first ever Halloween, if you don't count Disney in September the previous year.
We did some more of that going out jazz - can we keep doing this into our 30s or does it have to stop at some point?
We went to my very first (college) basketball game
Did some more of that wine and painting stuff that I'm still not so great at
Went to a holiday shindig..
We went to NYC!
And ended the year in style (pajamas + bubbly + catchphrase + clue = so fun!).
Basically... my year can be summed up as follows: cats, reading, running, food, friends and KC.
I mean, what more could you want, right? Here's to 2015!
Can I please just have your hair?! It's so pretty!! I loved this since I just started reading! Can't wait to read more! Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteSuch a fun recap!! I need to go back and figure out exactly when I "found" you because it seems like I remember most of these posts. Your parties look so fun and is it wrong that I am filled with glee seeing outfit pieces pop up on you like the white tunic and striped tee?? And the BURGUNDY striped tee on your friend!! Woo hoo! I agree- you've definitely found your voice and stride as a blogger and I thoroughly enjoy it. Can't wait for Jan 12 and everything else you come up with this year!

Also, did you recap NYC and I somehow missed it? I'm so excited to see what 2015 has in store for you!

ReplyDeleteLooks like a hell of a year! I was just like you in that I "officially" started my blog in April, but really didn't get involved in link ups and commenting and the general community until July-Aug or so. And my early posts are so dang embarrassing! Why did it take us so long to get on the flippin' ball? Dunno, but I'm glad I found you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun year!! I love all of these pictures. I remember my "fashion blogging" days too. There is probably still proof of it somewhere. I've never tried the wine and painting thing. I consider myself pretty creative and artistic until it comes to drawing, painting etc. I have absolutely no talent for it! I'm pretty good at drinking wine though ;) We ended the year in pajamas too. It's what all the cool kids are doing :) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletewhat a great recap to your year! here's an even better 2015!
