So I've talked about my bestie a bunch on here, and you all know that when I am my prettiest, it's because she has done my hair and makeup. After much begging, she has finally decided to grace us with her presence on this here blog. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to my bestie Megan. I hope you'll be nice to her!
First things first, a little
about me. As you know I have the most beautiful, generous, hilarious friend
Kristen who is the reason behind this guest post (thanks for your kind
encouragement friend <3). I was born and raised here in Kentucky where a
very long time ago I fell in love with make up.
The story my Mother tells
goes like this: I got into her make up cabinet at a very young age and got ahold of a tube
of lipstick and after I had finished applying, thought I was hot shit. Walking
around the house and posing for pictures.. and ever since then every birthday,
Christmas, easter, (any holiday where gifts or baskets were involved) I asked
for make up.
Once the said make up was
received, I practiced. A LOT. I would put on my Mariah Carey cassette tapes and
sing and apply…. Sometimes crazy looks that resembled a clown, and some that
were simple and classic. Every time I would come and show Mom she would always
say “it’s too much” she still says this to this day. My Mother was a minimalist (still is). She is
a classic Stevie-Nicks-ish hippie that loves a coat of mascara, blush,
chapstick, and a good tan. This trait was not passed onto me.
And as they say: the rest is
history :)
Here are my top 5 celebrities
that always seem to have amazing make up/I love to try and duplicate their
looks:
Carrie Underwood (read
that she does her own make up from time to time – kudos to Carrie!!)
Jessica Simpson
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jessie James Decker (recent
addition)
Adriana Lima (her smudged sex
kitten eyes are just amazing!)
(Now, I know there are artists behind these looks – but I love looking through their photos for inspiration)

Okay, so lets get into a
basic tutorial shall we? Lets do
eyeliner… This is somewhat of a simple yet complicated thing to master. With
make up in general the more you do something the better and faster you get (or
with anything in life I guess.. .) So, I am going to try and show/explain this
as if I am showing someone who has NEVER used a liquid eyeliner in their life.
So if you have used eyeliner before, you’re already ahead of the game! (go you).
*Quick Disclaimer* The way you choose to do your make up (colors, products, application techniques etc.) is your choice and perfectly okay! The most important thing is you're having fun :) My tips and techniques are purely what work for me and what works when I apply to others. Enjoy!
- Step One - Start with the liquid liner tip (or brush) in the corner tear duct area and drag along the lash line and gently lift as you approach the outer corner of the eye. (note: the more pressure you put on your liquid eyeliner, the thicker your cat eye will be. I did medium pressure for my look.)
- Step Two - Drag the liner from the outer corner of the eye slightly upwards (the higher you drag, the more dramatic the cat eye will be).
- Step Three - Connect those two lines together.
- Step Four - Fill in the liner (like a coloring book!)
And you're done!!! Hooray for cat eyes! and cats… hehe
For me, liquid eyeliner just feels like a complete 'polished' look. Here's the finished look with a full face of makeup - and of course, the eyeliner!
Ok guys - so what do you think? Gonna go try out some liquid eyeliner now? I know before I met Megsy, I could barely rock a pencil eyeliner, let alone liquid! So she definitely helped me, and I hope she helped you!
I'd love to feature her on the blog some more - we all know I'm no beauty guru, but she is and I'm sure she'd love to guest post more with just a wee bit of encouragement from you all. And please can we convince her to start her own makeup / beauty instagram already?! Seriously, help me convince her in the comments.
I've never applied liquid eyeliner before, so I appreciate the tutorial (and the inclusion of step-by-step photos!)! It can be a bit intimidating. I just imagine myself messing it up, trying to rub it off with my bare hands, and ending up looking like a giant raccoon. But this seems doable! Thanks, Megan!
ReplyDeleteP.S. The photo of your first lipstick experience is pretty awesome haha.
I've never tried liquid eyeliner because I've always been intimidated but I think I'll pick some up and give it a try or see if I have any from the beauty boxes! I loved having Megan on here.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you make this look so easy! I love the look & you definitely need to do some more guest posting over here :)
ReplyDeleteOk, Kristen is right, your makeup is FLAWLESS girl! I love the winged eyeliner look, I've just never been great at accomplishing it but I'm definitely going to try out your tutorial tomorrow when I'm getting ready. And I'm going to be "that" annoying person but... what color/brand lipstick are you wearing in that last pic?! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't use liquid liner often but that is convincing me it is worth another go. Ummm can we just point out that she is gorgeous and need to start a blog like yesterday. Mm'Kay. Love the look with the pale pink shadow and the nude lip. Very classic, totally my style.
ReplyDeleteYou are both stunningly gorgeous! I love all of your celeb picks too, Carrie and Adriana especially!
ReplyDeleteYes keep bringin her back always :) I'm a makeup novice but am trying to get better. You've already inspired me to wear lipstick remember so now I guess I haveta try liquid eyeliner lol
ReplyDeleteYou seriously make it look so easy! I have tried liquid liner before and never ever got the hang of it so it just hangs out until it dries up and I throw it away...I think I'm going to have to try this now...
ReplyDeleteI loved liquid eyeliner when I was in high school. I was a PRO at putting that stuff on my eyes. Now? Not so much, lol! And I agree with Kristen, you (Megan) should start your own instagram! :)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous girls!! I've yet to master liquid eyeliner but now I'm really considering trying one out. Does she have a favorite brand?

I ment be a regular on your blog with makeup posts, that kind of didn't make sense haha. Like a monthly thing or something! :)
DeleteI have liquid eye liner and have never used it...it scares me! I'll have to try this technique this weekend :)

ReplyDeleteHey there, nice to finally "meet" you! :) I love all of your celebrity inspirations, I totally agree! And your makeup looks AMAZING! I am so clueless, I need all the makeup help I can get! This tutorial on the liquid eyeliner cat eye is seriously the best one I have seen, it actually makes sense now and I think I could actually do it! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! I am a complete novice on the eyeliner front. So this tutorial is super helpful. I am just not sure I am brave enough to actually try it. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe definitely need more beauty tutorials!
You guys are so gorgeous! So glad Kristen was able to get you to guest post :) I'm going to give the liner tutorial a try- no matter how often I try I can never get it to look good and it ends up going from super thin line to totally crazy! You make it look so easy though!
ReplyDeleteLove her liquid liner look. To be honest, I get nervous with liquid liner more than I do with regular but this has inspired me to give it another try! What is the best liquid liner to get?
ReplyDeleteAll five of those ladies are my beauty icons as well! Always so fabulous and classy looking! Nice to finally meet the bestie!
This is great! I am terrible with makeup!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, bestie! :) Liquid liner and I have had such a love/hate relationship for so long, but I finally found the one thing that helps me make a steady (and matching on both sides!) wing: resting my elbow on something while I apply. It never even occurred to me before and then one day I was like.. duh, let's try this. And ever since I have much more of a love/love relationship with the cat eye haha :)
ReplyDeleteKristen, will you get your friend to start a blog or channel or beauty insta already? Jeez. :)
Welcome, Megan! I adore liquid liner but have mixed success...sometimes I nail it on the first try, but other days require lots of makeup remover and patience!
ReplyDeleteHey Megan! That last photo - fierce!
ReplyDeleteI have always crapped up liquid liner - never saw a tutorial as simple as this. Thank you!!
LOVE!! Megan needs to post more makeup!
ReplyDeleteLove this tutorial! I don't think I ever learned how to properly apply eyeliner…I kinda just make it up as I go, haha. Thanks for sharing, Megan! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with makeup as well and I love how she did the eyeliner in her lower last line. More tips and tricks please! She needs to start a Youtube channel
ReplyDeleteYay for blogging besties!!!! Definitely needs her own blog/insta/YouTube channel. All the social medias!!!! Love the cat eyeliner and celeb picks! Yall are both stunning! :)
ReplyDeleteY'all are both gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI suck at make-up application. Once I tried liquid eyeliner - it wasn't pretty. I always think it's because my hands shake when I try to do super fine motor thing (makeup, nail polish....)
Thanks for the tutorial! I've always wanted to try liquid eyeliner but it scares me just a little bit.
ReplyDeleteYou two are both gorgeous and I am loving that bun on your bestie..It is perfection. Makes me want to get highlights or do an ombre do so I can have it too!
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm so happy your friend decided to guest post.
ReplyDeleteLOL that second picture is amazing. Love it. Great tutorial, I've used liquid liner a few times but haven't mastered it yet. This should help.
You should definitely start a beauty IG!!! :)
I think it would be great for her to have her own beauty blog/IG/Youtube... ! She could already have three posts with the content in this one and a tad more elaboration! So fun! Jlove and Carrie are so gorgeous.... good choices for sure! Glad she guest posted for you! XO -Alexandra
