Weekends are for sleeping

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We went to a wedding on Saturday, and binge watched Scandal on Sunday. Which was fine by me. I know there are other Scandal watchers out there, so tell me...

Are you team Jake or team Fitz?

Anywho. You might remember when I begged for opinions on renting a dress for our anniversary trip. By far, the most popular dress from that post was this one. I ended up renting it for a wedding instead, and went for something else for the anniversary trip. I rarely get to dress up and this is the only wedding I'm invited to this Summer (expat sob story) so I wanted to go all out.

I was super proud of my hair and makeup for the wedding, so obviously had to document it with a selfie.

The dress was perfect - I am so in love. If you are interested in rent the runway but hesitating - don't! They are amazing and their customer service is impeccable. I got 2 sizes, my normal size and a size up - even though everyone says the dress runs large, I knew with my booty and hips that wouldn't be the case. The larger size ended up fitting better, but it wasn't in the most perfect condition. They didn't have a replacement in the same size, so Alex from RTR offered me any other dress, a larger size and a refund regardless. I asked for the bigger size and it was perfect - in my opinion, it fit like a shift dress should, which never happens with said booty and hips. I would absolutely rent this dress again.

Sea Water Shift Dress

KC was so ready to leave and the last thing he wanted to do was take a ton of outfit photos, sigh. Seriously though, this dress is perfection. Love it. Meanwhile, I need a tan stat.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! My weekend wasn't that exciting, but I'm linking up with Biana anyway. Now when the heck is Scandal back?

By the by - not a sponsored post. I just really like RTR.

Friday Faves

Fridays all round! Time for .. well, you know what time it is.

meet @ the barre
Fave Song

Spotify keeps playing this song for me, and before I knew it I was singing along. Oops.

Fave Quote

Fave Finds

My fave thing about summer is that an outfit takes less clothes, if that makes sense. Tank + shorts = super cute in summer, not so in winter. Tanks are my fave because I don't hate to show off my arms and I like when they are nice and loose like this one for plenty of beer and food belly.

On a slightly more sleevey note, I love the look of the ballet tees from j crew. And this maxi, has - wait for it, wait for it - pockets! I mean, can you get any better? It's a wee bit more than I normally would like to pay, but not by much.

Fave Recipe

I am pretty much sold on anything with avocado, but this recipe from Stacy made my mouth water. yes please, get in ma belleh.

full recipe here

Fave Post

I have struggled with body image all my life, and I know I'm not alone. I try and remind myself being fit and healthy is more important than being skinny, but it's hard. It's posts like these that remind me of what is important and how much society needs to change. Anywho, do read this post from Ursula.

Fave Funnies

I am almost sorry for the amount of funnies today. Just couldn't help myself.

I just keep watching, and it keeps getting funnier.

Oh my god, right? I hover over people and I'm like WTF are you doing?

props go to Gina for this one!
 If only. If. Only.

This one doesn't look funny, but it is, I promise. It was called the 'disgruntled garbage truck'.

I laughed so so hard at this.

And this one is far too long, but you really really oughta look at it.. I laughed so hard at the 'synonym crunch' and ok, I laughed at all of them. Really. Clicky clicky.

Have a fab weekend errybody, I would like to be doing a whole lotta nothing, but damn people have shit planned and all that shit. Maybe I will actually have something interesting to say and link up with Biana on Monday for Weekending!

PS. Next week is July. WTF.

Summer Book Swap

When Carly posted about the Summer Book Swap, I knew I had to be a part of it. The only thing better than getting a new book is getting a new book as a gift. Quick thank you to Carly, Tiffany, Emily and Lauren for getting this together because amazeballs. Thank you!

For the swap, we each got paired with someone, made new besties for life, and sent each other a book. I got paired with the lovely Sarah from A Rose in the City and we seemed to enjoy a lot of the same books. Pretty quickly she said she had an idea for me, and I not so sneakily stalked her goodreads profile and saw that she hadn't read The Time Traveler's Wife which just happens to be one of my absolute fave books. So, easy peasy. But I just couldn't help my Pride & Prejudice obsessed self, and I chucked that one in as well because it was also on her 'to read' list. You can read Sarah's post about The Time Traveler's Wife here and I can't wait to see what she thinks of Pride & Prejudice!

If you haven't read either of these books, you should. Neither of them are what I would call 'easy' reads but they are absolutely magnificent and wonderful and amazing and beautiful and all of the good things.

Sarah sent me The Opposite of Maybe which looks super interesting and right up my alley. Thanks so much Sarah!!

Now, I know this wasn't a GIF filled 'funny' post and not everyone likes books and what not... sneak peak of my trip back home. The most cliché picture I could find, just for you.

That's me, feeding a (small) kangaroo. My holiday didn't get much more exciting than that, folks. As long as too many people don't protest, a holiday recap shall be a comin'. And if they do protest, I shan't give a damn.

Humpday Confessions

Yay time for my favourite soul cleansing link up.

I think we should get a new hot guy for the button every season - who's with me?

Vodka and Soda

Sometimes, when I see a picture (or GIF) and it's upside down, like this one:

I flip my laptop around so I can see it better. Yep. And if it's a computer, I flip my head around.

When I was younger, I had the biggest crush on Howard Keel. Loved this man for as long as I could remember. I was obsessed with Calamity Jane and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. He died almost 10 years ago.
Moving on.
Remember how I said I had to go back to work on Monday after arriving on Sunday? Well shit did not go to plan, meaning I am older than I remember and can't hang like I used to, even when 'hanging' constitutes of sitting in uncomfortable ass planes for 24 hours. Plus I had a cold. So I called my boss Monday morning, and thank goodness for the awesomeness that he is and he didn't mind me not coming in. If I had been less effed up, I would have realised calling in sick after a holiday is really stupid, but I was all kinds of not good and my brain was mush.

So I slept until 2pm. Oops. Guess what time I went to sleep on Monday night?

Keep guessing.

I could not go to sleep. I tried. I moved from the bed to the couch, nothing. Finally I got up at 6am and thought eff this.

Right now its 4pm on Tuesday - I have been up for more than 24 hours and I am not feeling good. Stupid jetlag, stupid sleeping Kristen.

I am so tired today that I tried to use the mousepad on my keyboard at work. That is a desktop. There is no mousepad on the keyboard. I'm not even sure if this makes sense.

I have the hiccups. I hate the hiccups. I sound like a tiny toy dog (which I have been told numerous times) and they are so annoying.

Joe Nichols' song 'yeah' makes me irrationally mad. Like, it's all about agreeing with whatever the girl wants so you can get laid, we get it, however, this is why women start fights because you said you loved that song and you loved that drink, and a year later we play that song or make that drink and you're like ew no. Except you're a guy and don't say ew no. LIES, LIES, LIES.

I really like the song though, super catchy when it's not making me mad.

Anyone watch true blood? It's one of my guilty pleasures. I can't stop watching, it's like a train wreck that long ago left the books behind, and it's just random crazy now.

But Eric, I love you.

sorrynotsorry.
I have tried to catch up with all my reading and commenting, though like I said, mush brain, if I missed you it was not intentional. I didn't have the best internet access at home and so I didn't get to do a lot of the other side of blogging. I tried to catch up, but I had over 300 emails in my inbox (ooh I'm so popular, as if) and approx 1,000,000 things in my bloglovin thing. So, I think I'm caught up, and if I'm not, I think I am.

of course i care... but right now i care about sleep.
Lastly, I know some of you might have just been saying it because it's what you say, but I got a lot of love from people being all like yay, welcome back, it made me feel super loved. And special. So, thank you, I love you too.

You (didn't) ask, I told anyway!

I felt like keeping up with the random theme.

I don't like eating tacos in public.

I cry really easily. Like, pretty much every grey's episode. I cried watching this video. I cry during TV commercials, and not just the animal ones.

I like to sing really loudly, even though I am the worst singer in the world.

My favourite is when I have my headphones on and KC is trying to watch some sort of sport.

I played netball pretty much all of my life until I moved to the US. I still wasn't very good though. If you don't know what netball is, its basically (not really) basketball, but you can't run with the ball or bounce it.

When I was a kidlet, I played netball and did ballet for like, half a year. Mum told me I had to choose one, and of course I chose netball because mum played netball and everyone played netball. 15 or so years later, mum told me she gave me the 'choice' because she knew I would choose netball, but really the ballet teacher person told my mum not to bring me back because I had all the grace of a fairy elephant.

When I was younger, I used to bite my toenails.. yeah I know, gross. Sometimes I like to see if I can still be that flexible, but don't worry. I don't bite.

I can do a really awesome country / southern american accent.

But my aussie accent sucks.

What about you? Got any weird randomness inside? Do share.

Ps. Confessions tomorrow!
