Anyway. My weekend wasn't super exciting, but I did have some fun and wanted to share.
Saturday kicked off the 13 week countdown for the Rock N Roll Half Marathon, which meant that my training started. I'm not really training until January, for the rest of December I am just concentrating on running consistently, not focusing on speed or hills or anything.
So I went for a quick 3 mile. Can I just say a huge thank you to the
After that KC and I went to his work's holiday party. There was lots of Christmas music, beers, jello shots, photos with props, selfies and loud people freaking out over who knows what. It was a good time.
In case you are wondering, my bestie and husband work together (as well as her husband) which is basically why we are always together.
I was quite tickled when I realised that both my dress and boots are from good ol Kmart. The dress is the one I posted on instagram, it is seriously so perfect for the holidays and winter, I know I'm gonna get lots of wear out of it for many years. The boots are from Australian Kmart (similar) and were only $15 and I have worn the heck out of them. Australian Kmart is better than American Kmart, quality and reputation wise anyway. Your Target is better, you win.
But seriously, this dress is so fabulous. It looks sequiny but it's not. It's thick without being too thick, I got a bigger size because I didn't want it to be super snug, but I just love it. I saw it on Jessie James Decker's instagram and swung by my Kmart the next day to check it out in real life. I sent the picture to my bestie and she sent back this:
The people who had the party love books (who doesn't) and have a bunch of old copies from a school that closed many years ago. You know I had to look through all of their bookshelves so that I could a) judge them on their book choices and b) look for Pride and Prejudice (no dice).
They did have a copy of Wuthering Heights from 1936. I mean, they shouldn't have let drunk people like me touch their pretty books, but oh it smelled so good!
We got home pretty late and spent most of Sunday doing nothing, and it was quite lovely. We have a dinner this week for my work, and that's really it for holiday festivities for us.
I have a favour to ask you all. As you can see, my hair and makeup are so-so in this post, I curled it but it dropped so quickly, I think it's getting too long, who knows. The point is, you can see the difference to when I do my own hair and makeup to when my bestie does it. I mean, the difference is crazy. She's a magician. I keep trying to convince her to start a blog or instagram, but she's shy. I'd love her to guest post on here to put her toes in the water and I told her you'd all be so lovely and nice and I'd almost convinced her. Help me with a comment to prove how awesome the blogging community is?
that dress is from kMart?! it looks fab and you all looked stunning for the party :)
ReplyDeleteI would have NEVER guessed that dress was from Kmart! I totally want it too! And Jessie James has it?! What?!? Ok, so your running scare reminded me that I had one last week too! But mine involved a creepy guy who followed me through my neighborhood for awhile. I freaked out, ran home as fast as possible and called my hubby freaking out when I got home LOL! And yes, your bestie should start a blog. She can teach me some hair tricks! :)

That dress is amazing and I can't believe it's from Kmart! You are rocking it, lady!
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of you with the book, so cute! I love that you're a bookworm like me ;)!
Where is your Rock and Roll Marathon?!?!
Dear bestie, please guest post. Blogging is so fun and the girls are great! Come play with us :)!
What a fabulous Kmart find - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, your bestie should totally ease into the blogging world with a guest post (and then she'll totally be hooked!).
saw that dress on your IG and couldn't believe it was from kmart!! love it.
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with your dress! I also love that you went for a "quick" 3 mile run ha. I really need to get back into running. I used to run almost every day & right now the thought of running even a mile makes me want to die a little.
ReplyDeleteLove your dress!
ReplyDeleteYour bestie should definitely guest post some for you. She could do a few beauty tips blog posts. I would love to read them! Maybe her first one could be "How to put on eyeliner," bc I am horrible at that. ;)
Ooooook, can we just talk about dog etiqitte for a minute?! I can't stand it when people don't watch their dogs, have them on those expandable leashes, or no leash at all - on a public road or trail! I've never been scared to get bitten, but I've nearly broken my ankle darting around some idiot's dog who is out of control and said idiot has no idea what's going on because they're not paying attention. Just take care of your dogs, folks. Sheesh. *end rant*
ReplyDeleteps- love love love your dress!
That is terrifying about that dog. Holy Toledo. I'm not afraid of dogs either... but this would freak me out too! I love this dress! & the boots too. American Kmart does suck. In fact my mom hauled us out of there once as kids, (because they were giving her poor customer service, I think), saying *loudly 'Kmart SUCKS!' -embarrassment. : / We don't even have a Kmart in my city, though we do have a distributing center I think.... figures. The holiday pics of you and your KC are adorable. I would totally be the same about the books in a house I am visiting. My friends do it too. The first time one of them came over she said ' I can tell we will get along, I see you have at least three copies of Jane Eyre.' -haha love it. I don't know if I would sniff them... but maybe if I had enough to drink ;) The blog world is awesome... I always want more great people to join! XO -Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
Love that dress, your right it is the perfect dress for the holidays! And seriously, I hate when people don't tie up there dogs and then your terrified of an attack while on a run. There was a house in my hometown who never tied there dogs up and a few people actually got bite by them when out on a run. I avoided that area!
ReplyDeleteYou seriously rocked that dress - it looked perfect on you and I can't believe it's from Kmart!!! WIN!!! xo, Biana BlovedBoston
ReplyDeletei loveeee that you found your dress + boots at kmart. score! xo jillian - stop by! I'm hosting a Peanut Butter & Co. giveaway for babies on cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteThat dog does sound scary! That's happened to me so many times and it sounds like you did the right thing. Sometimes I also start yelling at them in a really low voice and raise my hands above my head, but ya seriously dog owners, keep your animal on a leash if he is prone to charging people.
ReplyDeleteNow I wish we had a Kmart in town and psst, you wore it best :)
Your dress looked amazing on you-can't believe it's from Kmart! I love dresses that look like they have sequins but don't-dealing with sequins can be so annoying. Anyway, your work party looks like fun. That's so great that your hubby and bestie work together! Your bestie should definitely guest post on your blog-we would love to have her. :)
ReplyDeleteWhew, you go girl with the training and can I just say how much I LOVED seeing you in that dress!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look so fabulous! I am super jealous, all the Kmarts around me have closed and that used to be my go to place to find hidden gems.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, your friend definitely needs to guest post!!
I have had plenty of dog interruptions while running, but none have actually chased me. When I'm running and I hear nearby barking out of nowhere, it makes scares the crap out of me, though.
ReplyDeleteLove those pics with the photo props, too adorable!
ReplyDeletei had totally written kmart off as being full of crap until i moved right across the street from one. i was so surprised to see they had some cute clothes in there! your dress is supa cute. (ps has anyone ever told you you and your bff look like sisters?)
ReplyDeleteIrresponsible dog owners REALLY bug the heck out of me. It irks me when people don't leash their dogs, or chain them up. Ok. Enough about that.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is GORGEOUS. We don't have any KMarts around here anymore, but we used to! So awesome that you found such an awesome dress there.
Also--the blogging community is AMAZING. Tell your friend she should at least try it if she's at all interested. :)
KMart?! No way! I never even think to look in the clothing section when I'm there!
ReplyDeleteA hair or makeup tutorial guest post from your bestie would be awesome - get her to teach us her magic ways!
Girl - you rocked that dress. My hubs Christmas party is this weekend & I told him I'm not going because I have nothing to wear. Maybe I need to make a visit to Kmart.
ReplyDeleteYou smelling books - why I think you are fantastic.
Tip I use when big dogs run after me -I stop running as well & I use a deep voice & say STOP.. a lot of time, it startles them. Use a forceful tone. I also stop running in case I need to get all kung-fu... seriously. If they ever did attack you, poke them in the eyes, or God-forbid - kick them in the throat. I have big country dogs that usually back off as soon as I yell, but you never can be too careful.
Yes! Your friend needs to guest post and start a blog so that I can learn how to do my own hair! She is a magician and needs to spread the love:) You look fantastic in that dress! And the fact it was a steal?! Double score! I love collecting old books. I seriously watch people when they come to my house to see who lingers a bit and checks out the books. Hardly anyone ever does, which is sad. You would, though, and I think that's AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes, to your bestie starting a blog or IG. :) Or Youtube maybe? I think it depends on what appeals to her and how much commitment she wants to put into it. The community is amazing but for me at least, it took quite awhile of lonely blogging before I started feeling the community love. Just prepare her for that part, okay? LOL. Anyway, glad you had yet another amazing, blogworthy weekend and I'm LOLing at your snooping the bookshelf. You would be very disappointed at my house unless I let you snoop through my Kindle. haha. :)
ReplyDeleteDogs can be scary when they are chasing you! My dad and husband are really into cycling and do this 300 miles ride every year. My mom and I do support and someone told us when dogs are chasing the riders to yell "get off the couch" because it's something they may have heard from their owners. And I'll be darned if it hasn't worked every. single. time. And yes to the bestie guest posting! I'd love to see how she gets your hair and makeup perfect! Then she needs to visit SC and do my hair and makeup!
ReplyDeleteOk I am a total dog person but I would have been seriously freaked by that too. There is a territorial cat who lives in my old neighborhood that has legitimately tried to attack me on several occasions and that was scary enough.
ReplyDeleteEvery single one your pictures from the party is beyond adorable.
Um YES your bestie needs to guest post ASAP! Tell her we're all shy, that's no excuse haha!
Seriously your dress is so pretty, and I totally think you wore it better! I totally checked out Kate's books at her housewarming. ;) I say your friend should totally start a blog, it helps with shyness and the community is the best part ever!!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best shopper ever!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cool that your best friend was at the party too - way more fun to go to a work party with best friends!!!
Looks like such a fun weekend! Love that dress!

I went to KMart while looking for an ugly sweater and was pleasantly surprised by the selection! There are actually a handful of super cute things!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is fantastic! I don't think I've bought clothes at KMart since 1987, I might have to go back.
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks fabulous on you!!! Every once in awhile Kmart will pull out a real win. I have a top from there from like three years ago that I wear the heck out of in the spring and summer to work. Also, your besties Snoopy sweater is freaking adorable!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love dogs too (we have three!) but if a strange dog charges me, that is terrifying! So glad he didn't hurt you! So frustrating when people are irresponsible with their animals and don't keep them contained!
ReplyDeleteI love your dress!! It looks fabulous on you!
Your bestie should definitely do a blog post! We would love to hear from her! :)
What a cute dress! I love seeing make-up tutorials and the like because I don't do my makeup super often. It would be cool to see a guest post from your bestie! Your hair and make-up look great in the post you linked to!
ReplyDeleteReally cute dress! Looks like you had fun at the party!
ReplyDeleteI am adoring that sweater dress. And all the photos look so cute. It looks like a fun time was had by all.
ReplyDeleteI'm always trying to convince friends to start blogs! It's such a great community!!
ReplyDeleteAnd totally loving the dress- clicking over to Kmart now.
I can't believe you got that dress at Kmart! It's so cute! Your bestie definitely needs to join the blogging fun!
ReplyDeleteUm wait what?! That dress is from Kmart!?! No way! It is so gorg! All of our kmarts around here major suck and most of them closed! But I want to track it down now! You look way too cute!! So glad you had an awesome weekend!

Love your weekend recaps!! And that dress?? Kmart?!?! You look so great!! Props always make for super cute pics!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously obsessed with your Kmart dress!!! Love! And we have a dog like that in our neighborhood and it scares the crap out of me. What are you supposed to do when they come running at you?! I've just stopped walking Brady by his house because he looks like he wants to eat us for dinner!
ReplyDeleteBlogger ate my comment. How fucking rude. I made 3 different points. And now I'm too lazy to make them again. Even though it prob would've been shorter that this anyway. Cliff's Notes: 3 miles is not "quick," you smelling old books is funny, and bestie needs to get in the blogging game.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing whenever I enter someone's house — go straight for their bookshelves. And totally judge them based on what I find there. Oops. I love your dress too, you wear it so well! And AAAAHHHH OMG SO CLOSE TO RnR!!!!! I can't wait. Alsoooooo huge vote YES for bestie to get blogging!
ReplyDeleteLoving the dress!!! You seriously rocked it!!
ReplyDeleteDear Bestie....All the cool kids are doing it :)
You look amazing in that dress!!! You defs wore it better! Sounds like a lovely weekend, minus the crazy dog! I would have been so frightened! Good on you for finishing off your run! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteCarly xo

Your friend should definitely guest post on your blog... the blogging community is great and super nice and we would totally welcome her! Also, your dress is so cute! I love Kmart, I used to shop there all the time but then it closed down. :( The only one near me is about an hour or so away and I am not driving that far when Target is 5 minutes down the road... but still... I miss Kmart and their clearance deals :P

I'd love to see your bestie blog or IG, and a guest post is a great place to start! I always encourage my friends to guest post if they want on mine. It's fun!
ReplyDeleteLove love love the hats/staches props. And I'd be checking out the books too.
I think you look really pretty! The loose curls/waves are nice! I would love to see your friend blog or post!! The Christmas props are super adorable. I might have to suggest those for Joey's party next year ;) haha um, super scary about the dog! I'm not afraid of dogs either but when they chase you!? Yeah... that's a bit freaky. PS- you totally wore it better!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute!!!! And tell your bestie I said I would personally ask her to guest post because if she's your bestie she's bound to be cool! (Also Im still so bummed Im not in NYC to meet up with you and Alyssa!)
ReplyDeleteAdore you in that Kmart dress ! ! <3
ReplyDeleteI just adore that dress! I wish there was a KMart by me and I would totally copy you! That is completely crazy about that dog coming at you. I would have freaked out too. Maybe you should run with pepper spray?! Dumb people are so inconsiderate with their animals! I wonder what the difference is with your hair when you do it versus your BF?! Was your hair dirty when she/you did it? Mine tends to hold curl better when it's dirty. Did she use different products that you didn't use? Or curling iron size?!
ReplyDeleteLOL at that picture of you with the Wuthering Heights book! I love that dress and can't believe it's from k-mart! It looks gorgeous on you- it looks like such a fun time at the Christmas party. And YES to a guest post from your friend!
