First off, thank you for all your sweet words yesterday! I wanted to say that I am not going to quit blogging or anything like that, I was just wondering what the point of it was. I agree about doing it for yourself and I love that its documenting all the little things that I would otherwise forget, not to mention the community. I'm lucky that I haven't (yet) felt that blogging rut or block but I'm sure it will come along as I haven't been doing this long. I genuinely enjoy blogging and all of you, wanted you to know!
Another week down, one week closer to Christmas.. well, shit. Where has this year gone?! I can't believe in just over a week we'll be in NYC, it feel like yesterday that we planned it. I don't have a lot of favourites for you today, but I wanted to link up with Amanda anyway!
Favourite gift from the best person ever
You might remember when I guest posted over at Samantha's blog while she was off gallivanting around Australia (read about her time in Sydney). Wellllll she bought me some goodies and then sent them to me when she got back and I about cried when I received them. I got them on Monday and was skipping around the office like it was Friday I was so happy. I even shared one (just one, mind) frog with my boss who was particularly stressed that day. I ate the rest myself, after my salad of course. Keeping it healthy.
Favourite workout - Erin Motz's 30 day Yoga Challenge
I wanted to get back into Yoga consistently so on Monday I restarted the 30 day challenge. Because the videos are fairly short and I have done them before, I am doing 2-3 a day. I would like to finish it before we go to NYC, obviously listening to my body and not pushing it too far, but so far I am loving it. When I get back from NYC I want to start the new challenge, and do the 10 day ab challenge.
Favourite beauty product - e.l.f. lip lock pencil $3
So, you all know I'm no beauty guru. I have been trying lipsticks lately and wearing a bold lip freaks me out because I don't want to look like a child playing with mummy's makeup after an hour or two. I know most people use lip liners but I just can't get the hang of them, I feel like I'm drawing on my face. Here is where this product enters. I put it around my lips, not very carefully, on Saturday night and although I did need to reapply throughout the night, my red lipstick did not bleed at all. I ate, I drank, I took a lot of photos. And it's $3, so there's that. I bought 2 online (couldn't find them anywhere in store) and my beauty guru bestie thought it performed so well that she took the other one.
Favourite clothing purchase
Technically this was last week (heck, last month) but I haven't bought anything recently (applause please) and I am still in love with my Express London Sweater that I showed you all on Monday. I love the other tops I bought but I think this sweater is my fave. Seriously. Love me some stripes.
Favourite online discovery for book lovers
So I recently discovered Paperback swap. If you are a reader and have a ton of books you want to get rid of, sign up for this and you get 2 free credits if you post 10 books. Then each time you send a book to someone you get a credit. I've already gotten 3 or 4 books off the swap and have gotten rid of a few that were too much hassle to sell. I only like keeping books I might read again or that I really loved, so this is super handy. You do have to pay for shipping, but even so it's like getting a book for less than $5. Not for everyone, but hey. You might dig it. All the books I have gotten were in good condition, obviously read but no damage, which I don't mind. Anyway, they don't have the widest selection especially with new books, but I have always found something.
Favourite Christmas Movie
I am zero percent ashamed. This has been one of my favourite Christmas movies since forever. It came out twenty freaking years ago.
Favourite funnies
Basically this is why our tree is in a corner with a side table in front of it. It's not cute but it's cat protected.
Funnily enough, Penny and Chelsea couldn't give two shits about the tree. It's that dang devil, Millie. Hopefully next year she won't care... Otherwise this is the last year I keep a Christmas tree up. I'm not even kidding.
Have a fabulous weekend everybody! Anything Christmassy planned?
Love that sweater on you! So cute!! And that cat gif and the Santa gif had me literally laughing out loud! Too funny!! Happy Friday girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteI love The Santa Clause and I own all three movies (sadly).
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder what kids have to look forward to on the holidays because all they want is a little electronic box. We got actual toys, books, and games.
Happy Friday!! Love that new sweater - it looks so great on you! Love the Santa gif sooo much and The Santa Clause is the BEST Christmas movie!!!
ReplyDeletemy dog charlie loves the xmas tree--he sleeps under it--but i catch him drinking water out of it. idk why! every.dang.year.
ReplyDeleteI remember really liking the Sanat Clause as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Papaerback Swap sounds interesting. Is it US only though?
So awesome she brought you some goodies from back home. Luckily Seamus leaves the tree alone, otherwise that would be a nightmare. The poor Santa in the last gif. Haha!
ReplyDeleteGood to know about that ELF Lip product - bleeding lipstick = not cute! Still loving that sweater on you! Happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Those gifs are hilarious... especially the one with the cat saying "omg it was you" haha! cats are so funny. I actually don't have a cat but sometimes I want one just to see if mine will do all this funny stuff :'D I haven't tried that elf lip lock pencil but it sounds great and it's such a great price... definitely have to check it out!

I can't wait to do the 30 day yoga challenge. I tried to start it this month, then an injury came on the 2nd day so I'm going to start in January. Keep rocking it out lady, let's hold each other accountable, yeah?
ReplyDeleteThat book swap sounds amazing, I have a ton of books I could easily swap. Thanks for posting.
THE SANTA CLAUSE IS 20 YEARS OLD! SHUT UP! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I can't be that old. I love that movie, it's a must watch, at least 2 times! happy friday!
I've been wanting to do some bookshelf clean-up so I'll have to check out the Paperback Swap! So glad you got some of your favorite treats from home, that is always the best :)
ReplyDeleteohh i want to check out the yoga challenge! sounds fun xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteOk so I haven't tried any of the Aussie treats Samantha brought you but my Aussie friend is back in Australia right now and I'm REALLY hoping I get some TimTams when she gets back LOL! I got that same Express sweater! We can be twins now :) The Santa Clause is one of my fav Christmas movies too! I seriously can't believe it's 20 years old. Wow. I feel old now. Happy Friday love!

FYI Target usually has Tim Tams at Christmas time!!
DeleteWHAT.
DeleteThat lip product looks really cool! My tarte lip stains stay on pretty well, but I have a clinique lip color that might be good for. You look soooo pretty with a red lip. Love your sweater, I am always happy with my purchases from Express. That facebook thing is the truth about the dictionary!! It always cracks me up to checkout facebook lol. Have a great weekend! xo
ReplyDeleteI watched The Santa Clause a million times when I was a kid! I haven't watched it in a while, I'll have to see if it's on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to D's paternal grandmother's house for her Christmas dinner tomorrow night. Let the Christmas festivities begin. :)
It must have been amazing eating food that you actually missed!! Such a nice treat for her to send you those things! The lip lock pencil sounds amazing - I need to check it out and I love the price tag on it!! Off to check out PaperBack Swap!! Hope you have a great weekend!! xo
ReplyDeleteThat image where Santa is buying you clothes and a dictionary... that's hilarious. That is so sweet that your friend sent you Australian treats. :) I had many foreign friends throughout high school and college and they often brought us or mailed treats from their home countries. I have a fun little collection of jewelry and things too, sweet they always thought of us. :) I really really hope to get to go to Australia someday! :) This yoga challenge looks awesome. I really need to make myself do it more! Paperback swap sounds fun. I have been binge buying ultra cheap thrift store books.. especially in the summers. And I have been reading them... but you know just VERY slowly... : / Your boots with that striped sweater are amazing! Love that look. I am ashamed to say that 'The Santa Clause' has made me spell Santa Claus, Santa Clause.... maybe my whole life. :( But I do love the movie too. I am trying to expand my Christmas movie selection.. I actually haven't seen many. No plans for the weekend really YAY! :) I think we might finish up our Christmas presents... and hopefully do some more reading! XO -Alexandra
ReplyDeleteSimply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
You are seriously GORGEOUS!! I love that photo of you and your husband. those red lips look amazing on you. all the cat funnies = me laughing out loud in work. and the santa clause is my favorite movie for christmas as well :)
ReplyDeleteThat lip stuff is intriguing. So I'm assuming you put it on underneath? Like a like balm or primer? I hate the bleed and I also tend to avoid bright lip colours, not because I don't love them I'm just worried I can't pull it off. Like you said, no one wants to look like a kid in mommy's make up bag. When I was abroad I used to love getting Canadian goodies that just reminded me of home. Glad you enjoyed those frogs
ReplyDeleteI love the Santa Clause movies! And I have had really good luck with the Elf makeup, cheap and it works, a double win!
ReplyDeleteI love The Santa Clause and of course there should be no shame about loving it because IT.IS.AWESOME. :) I think I need to try that Elf lip lock pencil! Love your sweater, you look gorgeous! I used to do Paperback Swap and I totally forgot about it! Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe Santa Claus is such an underrated Christmas movie! Tim Allen at his finest! I'm gonna need to watch that soon!
ReplyDeleteSeriously though how the hell did that cat get in that tree like that? I have watched that gif like 10 times and I'm so confused!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally buying that ELF product thanks so much for the heads up!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend love! xoxoxo
Those frogs look so yummy! That ELF lip lock sounds amazing. I am definitely going to try it out. Have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check on that elf lip stuff. I have some hot pink I love wearing but I don't wear it a lot because I'm afraid of the bleed. I do love that sweater you've got me looking for stripes now too, lol! Thank goodness Boomer only thinks the tree skirt is a bed because I can't imagine not having the tree up at my parents!! Have a fantastic weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had something like the Paperback swap in Canada - its genius!
ReplyDeleteThe Santa Clause is one of my favourite movies of all time. I can't believe its 20 years old?!
I've been doing 2-3 of Erin's videos each day too. I just started into the ab challenge again and damn!!! It hurts so much! And a big YES to The Santa Clause. We're heading to the video store this afternoon and hoping to pick up that and The Holiday to take to the cabin :)
ReplyDeleteOh I totally have to check out that book swap thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed your treats! :)
We've only lost one ornament to a cat, and I've only witnessed Oswin climb the tree once. I think they've lost interest.
I so laughed at all your Christmas funnies :)
ReplyDeleteThe Santa Claus is still one of my favs. Why? We went & saw it on Christmas Eve 1994... the day we got engaged <3 aahhh ... I remember it like yesterday seeing in the theaters
Shut Up! I can't believe The Santa Clause is twenty years old. I LOVE that movie. I've already watched all three of them this year (a couple of them more than once). No shame! I'm so excited to live through your NYC trip! What do you have planned? Hope your tree survives Millie this year. :) Have a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteI said it earlier this week but love the sweater. I'll be checking out the elf lip makeup at lunch!
ReplyDeleteLOL I laughed so hard at the iPhone santa pic, it is SO true. haha... I was a nanny a few years ago for a 5 year old boy and that year his parents bought him a laptop for Christmas!!! I was like, I didn't get my own laptop until I graduated highschool... and then they complained that all he wanted to do was play video games on it. Right.
ReplyDeleteOK that cat one is even funnier - all of your gifs today are PERFECT.
I love stripes too and that sweater looks gorgeous on you. Have a great weekend girly! xx
I am going to have to go look for that elf lip stuff! I never wear colored lipsticks for that reason, but I love all the other elf products so I'm sure it's legit.
ReplyDeletehahaha! That Santa meme got me laughing out loud x
ReplyDelete3 kittes and thankfully none of them have ever knocked over the tree. They sit under it but no one's ever climbed up inside.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I needed that laugh today. Thank you for the drunk Santa gif and thank you for saying that the London sweater is your favorite. It fills me with GLEE to know you love it as much as I do! And now I want that ELF lipliner, so I will be hunting that down ASAP!
ReplyDeleteAw yay for goodies from home! I am about to KILL Olivia over the damn tree hah. The Off! cat spray helps some but stinks up the house like cilantro (in a horrible way). Hopefully Millie and O. learn some manners!? #keepdreaming ha Have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteOk you seriously just became my best friend!! I'm obsessed with the Santa Clause! I have to watch it like 10 times during the month of Dec to be satisfied! It's just so cute!! I saw it in the movie theaters with my grandma (I guess when I was 7 if it's 20 years old, OMG!) and have watched it every Christmas since! I actually I plan on watching it tonight while I wrap presents! :) But OMG 2 and 3 totally ruined it I refuse to watch themb how can you make such an amazing and cute Christmas movie and then make such crap for sequals?! Ok enough about the Santa Clause...... have a great weekend!

Upbeat Soles
You know I give huge thumbs up to Erin's videos... and I love the Santa Clause! I need to find a way to see it this year. That's so far the only downside to having cut cable, all these movies are on TV but not on Netflix or anything.
ReplyDeleteOMG - I literally lol'd with that Santa gif! I cannot believe the Santa Clause is that old! But I love it too - it's one of those movies that I just can't turn off when it's on tv. Hope you have a great weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteomg I was 10 when the santa clause came out?! How is that possible?! HOW AM I THAT OLD?!
ReplyDeleteLOL I love that funnies. I watch The Santa Clause every year. So good.
ReplyDeleteOh, drunk Santa!! LOL. I watched one or 2 of the Santa Clause's last year and last night watched The Holiday. I think more Christmas stuff is in order.
ReplyDeleteLove the sweater and the lip liner is a great find, especially at that price.
I love The Santa Clause movie! I like ELF, but LOVE Santa Clause even more!
ReplyDeleteAnd that santa card....I was drinking when I read it and laughed so hard water came out of my nose. Perfection!! !
You look AWESOME with red lips! It's funny you mention that ELF pencil... I've had it for a few months but never actually used it until the other day and I loved it, too!
ReplyDeletecat in a Christmas tree, will only end well haha. 30 day yoga challenge is on my 2015 to do list x
ReplyDeletekimiandme.blogspot.co.uk
Oh my gosh! That last Santa GIf is hilarious! I really want to try the bold lip but just worried I'll look the same way! So sweet of Samantha to send you some goodies! And I'll be saving that workout!
ReplyDelete2-3 videos a day, what?! Get it, girl! I've fallen off the yoga wagon yet again…by that I mean it's been like 3 days, but whatever. I have to check out that lip stuff, I've been trying to wear more lipstick (once I get over the initial self-consciousness, of course, since I like bold colors), but I can never manage to get it to stay on very long. I love love love your striped sweater + red lip look!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to get into yoga-- it makes such a difference to your day!
ReplyDeletePS I love your friday favorites.
Melanie @ meandmr.com
that sweater is perfect on you! and i'm loving the red lip. also, those cat memes are hilarious. my parents cats were never tree climbers, but they did drink all the tree water before they got a fake one... then when we got a fake tree my parents put a water bowl under there for them ;)
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, how hilarious/true is that cat meme! We attempted to put up my parents tree and their cat has literally destroyed it! I seriously need you to come and do my hair and makeup- you guys look great in that picture! I'm going to look for that lip lock pencil, it sounds awesome! And a used book website?! I am definitely going to have to look into that too! It sounds like you've had a good experience with it so far?
ReplyDeleteAll of those funnies were hilarious. Also, aren't elf products just the best? I don't understand why they aren't more popular.
ReplyDeleteOh and I saw this and thought of you: http://www.bustle.com/articles/53298-10-jane-austen-gifts-for-the-completely-obsessed-austen-fan
Can I tell you how much I love those funnies. Also so bummy that you willl meet up with Alyssa in Nyc when I couldnt because I flew home for a stupid interview for a job I didnt even get. I should hop a plane come hug you both and then head back home haha ..
ReplyDeleteTwenty years ago?!?! That makes me feel old. But The Santa Clause has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies, too! Hope you had a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteFYI, that last gif just about killed me lol. I miss my little monsters like crazy, but I am relieved not to have to deal with them + a Christmas tree. Thanks for the heads-up about Paperback Swap!
ReplyDeleteBahaha! Those cat funnies are too funny :) I love that striped sweater on you! The old(er) Christmas movies are definitely the best! I just set that Tim Allen movie up for DVR! Can't wait to watch it! I definitely missed the memo on whatever the hell those twisties and frog things are... never seen/heard of such thing! Lol.
