26 was a pretty good year, not gonna lie. Better than the year of 25? Absolutely.
It started off with 2 of my very close friends expecting within 2 months of each other - these girls have known each other since they were like 3.
Couples trip to Gatlinburg - so fun. I wish I had more pictures, it was so beautiful. Freezing, but awesome.
We all fell in love with this little man. Oh, and this was literally taken on my birthday, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day.
Our holiday rolled around again and we went all out. Just ignore my Australia tee, it's green, ok?
I mentioned that I didn't feel like I got closure when I moved to the US because I never planned to stay. It was a really hard time for me - I used to feel complete when I was in the US, now I felt like a piece of me was missing again, or that I didn't fit in. I was unbearably lonely - I had KC and friends but something was missing. So I started a blog. I didn't blog consistently until 2014, but still. See You In A Porridge was born.
I tailgated for the first time and it was amazing. We never made it to the game, but I think we won.
We still haven't really learned that tequila is never a good idea.
Jason Aldean concert - our friends had spare tickets and it was so spontaneous and amazing. We had such a great night. My cowboy boots hadn't seen the light since 2010 and they haven't seen it since.
This little lady made her appearance. I might never be a 'real' auntie, but I feel like I am for these 2 and I love them very much.
Well, still in KY and Derby is crazy expensive.. let's do Oaks instead.
Wedding festivities! I won't lie, I did not enjoy the wedding planning process at all like at all at all, and I wouldn't go through it again if you paid me, but all the time spent with my girlfriends was amazing and awesome and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

one of my favourite photos ever. you had to be there ;) |
My best friend & MOH planned an amazing pinterest worthy bachelorette party, complete with her best friend coming down for the festivities. She's the girl we visited over Labor Day.
And then of course, this happened
And then we had the best time everrrr in Vegas.
We jumped aboard the crazy cat family train.
And did some fall-y things.

clearly it wasn't fall weather yet but i had new boots, so fall it was. |
Had more wine + painting fun even though we have learned a) I can't paint, and b) wine and I are not friends
I met up with mummy at Disney.
We bought our humble abode.
And I celebrated my second Christmas in winter, my second Christmas away from my family. This one was easier than the last, but certainly still hard.
Nothing a fun party can't fix!
Phew! The memory lane train has now slowed down.. at least until the end of 2014!

Well isn't this a fun year?!?! Your wedding festivities look fun, and you were a stunning bride!!! And Disney and Vegas in the same year? Yes, please!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the year of my wedding was my best one yet, too! You guys sure know how to cram a lot into one year.. a wedding, a new house, vacations :) Love it!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I say the same thing every single time, but how does your hair look perfect in every single picture you ever post? Also, love all of your outfits as always too! Looks like another all around great year!

That red dress up there you got on.. gimme. Although I might rip it with my big ass.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, another cute post! You have lovely friends!
I have said it before but seriously you are a beautiful bride!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to do some derby activities this year with my brother and his wife...they are only in Kentucky for one more year so it has to be done this year!
I've always wanted to do the old timey photos. Do you really dress up with that or do they just put your face on the picture? Love all the throwback posts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun year for you! I hear you on the wedding planning though. I wouldn't do it again.
ReplyDeleteYou & your friends seem so awesome!
ReplyDeleteGuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurl, I'm 100% with you on not wanting to go through the process again. Wedding planning takes way too much time. I like the parties before hand though!
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute! Your life seems oddly familiar to mine but lots more fun!!! I also hated the wedding planning process. What a pain!
ReplyDeleteAnd tequila is ALWAYS a good idea for me! ;)
I've never been to the Derby despite living up there for most of my life! :( One thing I'd like to do one day! Hello Bucket List! :) And I feel you on the wedding planning. Hated it. So stressful. Your wedding dress was gorgeous though! You looked AMAZING!

oh man, you had such a jam packed year! It looks like it was amazing :)
ReplyDeleteUm I have the exact hair question as Carly. You need to share your perfect secrets haha!
ReplyDeleteThese recaps are so fun to read! I'm with you on the wedding planning. I got married a while before most of my friends, so a lot of them are just now getting married, and every time I go to a wedding I'm like man I'm so glad I got that over and done with years ago! The wedding was super fun of course but I think I'd have zero interest in planning one at this point.
Super cute babies, your wedding, buying a home, Vegas, Disney, cats...!!! So many great happenings! Are you making plans to visit Oz anytime soon? I hope this year has been as great (or better) for you as the last one :D

What a fabulous year! I know exactly what you mean about feeling like an Aunt to babies who aren't related, that's exactly how I feel about my BFF's daughter! They are just so precious! You were a gorgeous bride!
ReplyDeleteAdorbs :) This sounds like a great year, which tends to come after turbulent years, right? You looked beautiful in your wedding dress!
ReplyDeleteObviously this was the best year yet!! Can I just say how amazing it's going to be for you to look back on all of these posts in years to come and you will never forget anything!! Loved reading all of these!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun year!! Lots of big milestones and FYI, you don't have to be blood to be a "real" aunt. My parents' friends are way more aunt and uncle to me than some of my actual aunts and uncles :)
ReplyDeleteI love all your walks down memory lane.
What a great year!!! It looks like you have the best friends :)
ReplyDeleteI never tire of seeing you as a bride - so beautiful!
I love your wedding pictures so much girl!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great year and you were a gorgeous bride! I did not enjoy the wedding planning process much either and I'm glad I'm not the only one. )

ReplyDeleteThis year looked so much better than the last! I love when you share these!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome year! Hopefully you'll be able to say the same about 27 when it's all said and done :) I love that you take such good records of these things and have pictures of every occasion. I always mean to but always forget to take enough pictures of everything!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little green hair bow. I always love all the group shots from past Derby celebrations you've had! And yay for such a stunning wedding - and bride :)
ReplyDeleteI do so love these posts of yours! 26 seems like it was an excellent year for you and you looked stunning on your wedding day, although to be fair you always look stunning!
ReplyDeleteYour year sure was eventful! Love those western style photos above, and you looked so beautiful on your wedding day!
ReplyDeleteYay!! What a fun year :) You have such great friends, you're very lucky.
ReplyDeleteWHOA. Happy 200th Post. (Or was that yesterday's post? Either way..) And WOW did you pack a LOT of good stuff into 26!! You look so freaking gorgeous in your pics! Those Derby pics (And I don't know what Oaks means...must be a Kentucky thing!)- wowza to your hair and makeup. But you WERE a model after all I shouldn't be too surprised. It's been fun getting to know you and your life story better through these posts!

ReplyDeleteVery cool! Oh, total side note thing about books. So, on the romances, have you ever read Teresa Medeiros? My favorite romance is A Breath of Magic. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't enjoy planning my wedding either but I love helping others with theirs. Can't wait to see 2014!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a hard year to beat - I mean your wedding, cute babies and this amazing blog being born! So many wonderful memories I'm sure! I wish you the best and even more amazing memories in the years to come :)

ReplyDeleteMy friend who also was maid of honor stumbled upon this Las Vegas Weddings place, a hidden gem, and we popped over right away to see if it had possibilities. On first look and we knew it was perfect. The view is to die for, and provided a breathtaking backdrop to the ceremony and then dinner.
