But I'm getting ahead of myself. We left bright and
We only had 2 very short flights, and we arrived in Manchester before noon to a beautiful blue sky.
No filter needed, obv. |
We headed to Portsmouth, which is where she lives, stopping to take a touristy picture or two.
Oh, and of course we needed to stop at Target, and what the hey, their Target's are way cuter.
As soon as we got back, we got ready for our night in Salem. It was only a short drive from our friend's house, and we had a witch walk booked at 7 so we hustled down to wander around and stuff our faces. Our first stop, of course, was a wine store where we bought a bottle of bubbly and 2 bottles of flavoured Belgian beer - yum.
After wandering a bit, we decided to eat at Village Tavern upon recommendation. Food was good, very reasonably priced, service was very friendly - and holy shitballs the drinks were strong.
We got the fried pickles, pork sliders, nachos and chicken tenders to share. I didn't have any of the pickles or pork sliders, but the nachos and chicken were delish.
The witch walk was cheap, fairly quick with lots of fun & learning - I definitely recommended it if you are going to Salem. It didn't focus so much on the history as it did on witchcraft in general, but it was still good fun.
my dress |
I had gotten up at about 430 that morning, and I think we got home at about 11pm, so needless to say we were knackered.
The next morning we got up bright and early to head to Boston. Our friend lives less than an hour out, so it was an easy train ride.
We arrived in Boston before 10am and our friend had an itinerary of things she wanted us to do, so we followed along happily, of course stopping to take photos on the way.
I spotted one of those super cute lampposts and thought it would be fun to swing on one. I was right, and it was awesome, not caught on camera - boo! Unfortunately that was the last time I ever swing on a lamppost as I cut the bloody buggery out of my thumb. Ow! See how I'm laughing afterwards? It's because I can't believe I was that stupid.
Never mind, onwards and upwards!
I got my first mr softee - yum!
Of course I had to get a Chrissy ornament.
Boston was amazing - it was such a whirlwind that I barely remember exactly what we did and saw, and I know we didn't even scratch the surface so would love to go back one day. We headed home in the afternoon and scarfed down some delicious pizza before getting ready to hit the town.
my dress / my necklace |
We crashed like the old ladies we are, and slept in till a glorious 9am. We headed out to downtown Portsmouth for brunch and some shopping.
my maxi |
My favourite purchases! Such a cute bookstore that sold new and used books. I happened to ask the lady if she had any other Austen's and she remembered this beautiful copy of Emma. Seriously, it's so pretty in person, like someone actually threaded the cover.
Ok! Almost done, I promise. After shopping, we went home to get changed and head out on our friend's boat. It was so fun!
After the boat, we went to our friend's parents house, because all the girls grew up together they were stoked to see each other. More food, memory lane trips, and dancing to BSB and the Spice Girls. Then we went home, grabbed a pint of ice cream each and watched Fever Pitch. It was the perfect end to a great trip. It was so much fun, filled with girly silliness and delicious food. We ate at the airport diner before our flight and it was surprisingly delicious and cheap.
Anywho! Kudos to you if you made it through the whole post.
I love travelling with KC and missed him terribly, but there is nothing like a girls trip - am I right?
