Guilty Pleasures; #GuiltyTotalSocial

Ooh, today's #totalsocial with Helene and Sarah might be favourite yet. Guilty pleasures, don't mind if I do.

I actually already had a post scheduled today, because I was all productive and shit, about my pros & cons of living in the US. It is a post that I have been scared to post since early July, and I keep scheduling and rescheduling it. I finally said, right, that's it. Not moving it again, if people hate you and take it the wrong way, whatevs.

But then Helene reminded me of the #totalsocial and then she said guilty pleasures, I mean, c'mon. How could I not. So the pros & cons of an aussie in america has been postponed again, so you all won't boycott my blog and hate me just yet. Hopefully.

Oh my god, moving on Kristen the rambler. Shut up already.

Ruffles chips + lays ranch dip.

Hot damn, at one point I was eating 1 'party' size packet of chips and a thing of dip almost every day. I don't let myself buy these unless KC is out for the night because I will eat the entire thing and no judging is allowed.

all day erryday
The Polar Bear King.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I don't even remember how I came across it, I saw it as a child and it stuck in my memory for so many years, when the internet came around, I googled 'polar bear prince magic' or something and found it. Bought it off amazon and it is as horrible as it was then, but I seriously watch it every couple of months. The dubbing is awful, the acting is worse.. I freaking love it.

Pride & Prejudice variations & sequels.

Yeah. We all know I love P&P but I love the variations & sequels almost as much, especially the ones by Abigail Reynolds. I read these, and re-read them immediately after. Can't get enough. I have every single book on this list on my kindle, plus I own some of them in real books.

Singing and dancing around the house like a fool

Preferably when I am alone, it gets old when someone is watching thinking you're a tool. I don't even dance really, I just kind of shake my butt and do a lot of hand movements whilst singing horribly. It is the best.

Kate Middleton.

Why can't we be besties? Girlfriend is flawless.

Snickers Blizzards.

Just thinking about one seriously makes me go like this

Whipped cream

We weren't allowed whipped cream when we were younger because we didnt understand moderation, and I still don't as an adult. My mother in law always buys extra whipped cream for me.

Hot baths

My mum would always draw a bath for us and it was always way too hot, because it had to do for 3 kids, and I was always first. So I got used to it, and now I love getting in a scalding hot bath. I hate hate hate hate when the water gets even 'warm' so instead of topping it up with hot water and an astronomical water bill, I only stay in for like 5 minutes.

Nachos

Just like mummy made them. Doritos, beans (sometimes meat), melted cheese + sour cream plus some extra sour cream. KC hates that I eat these because doritos for dinner is apparently not healthy and doritos are more expensive than boring plain tortilla chips.

I promise this a small plate it just looks really big.
Oldies.

I couldn't even begin to scratch the surface of how much I like older music. Elvis, Cher, Bette Midler, Freda Payne, Bobby Darin, The Four Tops, Meatloaf, almost everything on the Guardians soundtrack.. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.. seriously. Thousands more.

Calamity Jane + Howard Keel.

My nana used to love this movie. I watched it so much as a kidlet she threw away the video because she was so sick of it.

Disney movies!

I love most disney movies, but my two faves are Beauty & the Beast and The Little Mermaid. I could watch both of these day in, day out, I know all the words (talking and singing) and they make me laugh and cry like I was a kidlet again. Fun factarino, Beauty & the Beast was the very first movie I ever saw in the cinema, just me and mummy and it was right before I started kindergarten, just shy of 5 years old.

Oh, and I totally don't feel guilty about any of these.

Helene in Between

What are your guilty pleasures?

  1. Haha I LOVE this! Whipped cream? Yes. I still will spray that stuff right into my mouth and not feel bad about it. And I definitely sing and dance around the house like a crazy person. Why not? Nachos are always a good idea. I think the only thing I don't agree with you on is the polar bear movie. What the heck is that?!? LOL! I'm a little scared about watching it.... hahaha!

  7. Nachos made with Doritos is the best idea ever! And I'm with you on chips and dip, but I always go for French onion. And Disney movies! You are right to feel no guilt. These are all awesome.

  8. The more I read your blog, the more I am convinced we are practically the same person. ;) I was saying "yep, I agree" to just about all of these.

Ruffles and ranch dip is the best, chip/dip combo!
My go-to Blizzard is the S'mores Blizzard. OMG! But they do not have it all year. :(
If I am going to take a bath, I am going to look like a lobster when I get out.
I have never made nachos that way, but they look delish. I see no problem eating Doritos for supper ... it's nachos, you would have some sort of tortilla chip anyway and Doritos just add more flavor.
Beauty and the Beast is not only my favorite Disney movie, but my favorite movie EVER!

  9. Oh and I really want to read your post about the pros/cons of an Aussie in America!

    ReplyDelete
  10. yup--sign me up for many of these. i like to pretend i have hair like Kate and I might (ok definitely) speak in a British accent whilst doing so.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I love this because I too can eat an entire bag of chips and dip in one day. That's why I buy it only every couple of months...

Also, I remember going to the theater with my mom and dad and seeing Beauty and the Beast. I think that's why it's one of my favorites as well :-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I cheerleader-dance in the house by myself. Because I'm awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yay, I love your guilty pleasures! How can anyone think nachos are not healthy?? Beans = protein. Cheese + sour cream = dairy AND calcium. Those are important to any diet. Nachos FTW!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Words cannot express how much that p&p gif made me smile- I think I watched it for like five minutes, haha. I'm also with you on the chips and dip and never allowing myself to buy it because I have zero self control! Those nachos look impressive- I love that you use doritos!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think I just had a minor heart attack when I saw those nachos... OMG GIMMIEEEEEE!!!! And I have a movie like that too that I still will occasionally watch, they are just so bad they're good!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. omg!! I eat those almost same dang nachos!!!! I use ranch beans for mine though. Seriously, what is better? I'm a nacho queen though. I LOVE gas station nachos too. Don't hate. P.S. I can't wait for your pro and con list!!! Even Americans have those lists!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well it's official, we can now be friends since I share your list of guilty pleasures. Polar Bear King?!! Amazing. I love bad but secretly awesome movies.

    ReplyDelete
  18. sorry for changing up your schedule!! but I'm pumped you linked up (and can't wait to see your post about pros and cons about living in the US!) disney movies are seriously the best movies ever.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, yes, yes, I love your guilty pleasures!! My family always made nachos with Doritos as well, but apparantly that's frowned upon in health circles....le sigh lol

    ReplyDelete
  20. Excited for your pros and cons post and I LOVE that you will be 110% honest. Ok chips and ranch dip? YUMMM! I never buy that stuff because it won't even make it home, I'll eat it all in the car. The whip cream thing I'll never understand because I hate the stuff. Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie too! I seriously want to come back as Ariel one day!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am always dancing around the house, even the dogs look at me like i'm a weirdo.
Put nachos in front of me and a Disney movie, and it. is. on!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can't even tell you what that plate of nachos just did to me. I am currently planning an escape route from my office to go get the ingredients to recreate them. Oh. My. Word.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ruffles and Dean's French Onion dip is my weakness. I forgot to mention them on my post. I think you and I can get together and have a chip party...each with our own bag...duh!

I dance and sing around when I am alone. The dogs think I am quackers. Whatever.

Nachos? Yes please! Blizzards DOUBLE YES!

I love Disney movies. Annnnnd I want to be friends with Kate too.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I loooove chips & dip. My favorite thing is eating almost a whole bag of chips from Chipotle lmao. Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid are two of my favorites, too. I would say The Lion King if it wasn't so sad!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. all the noms for chips and dip! We eat our nachos with doritos, cheese and jalapenos; I'll have to add in the beans and meat sometime for an extra kick and a real meal!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I really enjoy reading your posts:) I'm also crazy for whipped cream, no limits there for me:)

    ReplyDelete
  27. You are too funny! Love every single thing on this list!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Love these! There was a Disney movie marathon on on Sunday. Little Mermaid + Tangled + Mulan. Nope, not guilty about that. Although my husband was making fun of me lol.

    ReplyDelete
  29. OMG, okay first of all I agree with like almost all of these. Disney Movies: absolutely and those are my two faves too! The first movie I ever saw in theatres was Lion King! Haha aaaaand I totally know about the Polar Bear King!!! I saw it as a kid and it stuck with me and I googled it a couple years ago haha such an odd movie but I like it! ;) Plus all that food looks amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. YES Disney movies and Ruffles but with the french onion dip (soo good). That movie looks so funny - I'm tempted to watch it (and then be mad potentially that I did ha).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Definitely nothing to feel guilty about!

Now I want Disney movies and chips and dip!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bahahahhaha! You crack my shit up! Love it! I'll admit, I'm with ya on some of these! Somedays I like chips and dip and others I don't... but when I do... watch out, cause the whole bag is gonna be gone like the wind! A blizzard of any kind is fine by me! We don't have a damn DQ within 50 miles of our house tho... damnit! Whipped cream, hot baths, nachos and disney movies - yes please! Although one time... I made dorittios nachos at 3 am {intoxicated of course} and it was terrible! For some reason that part is super gross ever since that bad experience. But, bring on the cheese and sour cream hellllssss yeah! Now I'm hungry... damn you :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes yes and yes!! Omg chips and dip is probably my favorite thing ever but I can't buy it cause same thing it will be gone in about 10 min! Singing and dancing that's my thing! I think my husband thinks in a freak! I like to make up songs about my cat and dog and sing and dance to them. They will probably murder me in my sleep one day... Omg I could watch Disney all day long!

    Ruffles are MFD's favorite chips.

I can't wait for your pros and cons post. I love my country, but we are not near perfect and a lot of things about it piss me off. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. Girl. I can't even buy chips and dip (french onion is my choice) because I will eat the whole. entire. bag. Hot baths are my favorite. love this! xo

    ReplyDelete
  36. We don't pay for our hot water so I always take nice, long baths and keep refilling it! Love it! And Lays are so addictive!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm intrigued about your pros and cons list! I can't wait to read your perspective. I love nachos but have never made them with Doritos....where has this recipe been all my life?!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Those are my two favorite Disney movies too, ateast from the classics! I also put Cinderella up there! And blizzards, amazing! When I was in high school they made a limited edition grape kool aid and pop rocks one; nothing has ever been better!

    ReplyDelete
  39. If I have chips in the house I'm ok resisting them, but if I happen to buy dip I literally can not stop eating them. It's ridiculous, so I rarely buy dip lol. I want to be besties with Kate also! lol Those nachos look incredible!! I'm thinking we have the same taste as far as food goes lol. XO

    ReplyDelete
  40. My mouth is watering after seeing your nachos recipe. I might need to try that!

    ReplyDelete
  41. OK... I know you put the Beauty & Beast gif just for me. :) You were a child? Oh lord. I'm old :) I saw it in the theater twice... with my boyfriend's family (He was away in the military) & then taking every little girl I knew to go see it :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. And ALL of this = why I know we would be best friends instantly!! haha love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Kate Middleton is perfection! I want her hair and her wardrobe and her body.. can we just kidnap her and force her to be our friend?!? Also, why have I never thought to make nachos with Dorito's? That is just pure genius.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love Kate Middleton and anything royal family honestly haha Im a royal nerd (and an England nerd - love the country and could totally live there!!!). Also singing and dancing around the house is my thing! I totally forgot about the link up boooo!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Disney movies are so awesome! I love watching and rewatching Aladin... because, hello, one of the best soundtracks, ever:) And Kate is ridiculously perfect, I love how she's so real even though she's possibly going to be Queen one day!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I totally am with you on so many of these! Kate Middleton is awesome, nachos=heaven, you can never be too old for Disney, and Ripple Chips with Dip are so yummy! (I prefer the onion but yum!!)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh, girl! Those chips and dip were my dinner a few nights last week! Love them!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Disney movies fo sho! And nachos and hot baths too! I love reading these lists!

    ReplyDelete
  49. OMG the polar bear king. I had surgery as a kid and was in intensive care for a few days and legit the only thing i could get them to do for me was bring me the TV/VHS and that single movie. I must have watched it 20 times because it's my only memory from that whole hospital stay.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nachos made with Doritos?! GAME CHANGER!!!!! Trying that on my next cheat day!!!!
I actually DON'T like whipped cream! I always tell them to leave it off of things when I order! haha

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh I love this! Whipped cream - whipped cream on everything! It's terrible, I try not to buy it because then I just eat it by the spoon until my sugar high crashes! And I'm always singing (to my boyfriend's despair) and dancing everywhere, it's a way of life, I'm sure ;)
I'm off to watch the Polar Bear King now...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Seriously girl why don't you live closer to me?? I feel like we'd be awesome friends! Eating chips & watching old movies...while dancing around the house haha.

    ReplyDelete
  53. So most of your guilty pleasures are mine too. I seriously can't keep chips in my apartment, they'll be gone in a day. And I'll be crying with a stomachache. BUT brilliant idea: When you and KC come to NYC let's send him out for a night and we can watch Disney movies and eat chips and whipped cream and nachos together because that kind of sounds like my heaven on a winter day.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am looking to your list about pros and cons of living in the US! Surely people will think that is interesting? I mean, it's not like we have everything right here :)

Haha and the ranch dip and ruffles thing... gah, if anyone brings that combo to a get together, I can't stop. It's simultaneously disgusting and delicious.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi, I'm a new commenter! Love your blog! You had me cracking up with these, especially your review of The Polar Bear King! I haven't seen that one, but I can totally relate because I have movies like this that I KNOW are horrible but I LOVE them! And chips and dip, OMG I cannot control myself around chips and dip!

    ReplyDelete
  56. hahaha love love it. I just started a new BBC historic-y show and thought "I wonder if Kristen watches this?" It's about a woman who moves to London (?) and gets a job in the first department store ever?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Literally just got done watching P&P...makes me cry every time! BEST MOVIE EVER <3 Obsessed. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. So, I have been way behind on my blog reading.. obviously. I just had to put your button on my page because we share many mutual loves... More importantly; I have never come across anyone that loves Pride and Prejudice the way we do. Thank you for that. Good day.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Omg your nachos sound and look so much better than regular nachos. I'm totally a chip person too. I basically the girl who has all the snacks in my office. And my favorite part about eating a bag of chips by myself, is pouring the crumbs at the bottom of the bag into my mouth! No judging!

    ReplyDelete
  60. i love how when you were talking about the polar bear movie you started with "it was so horrible" but as i read further "but i freaking loved it" and you should follow catherine_doc on instagram it has daily instagram pics some insane fan posts of her daily wears and what she is doing every day and it is AMAZEBALLS
