Humpday Confessions

Yay time for my favourite soul cleansing link up.

I think we should get a new hot guy for the button every season - who's with me?

Vodka and Soda

Sometimes, when I see a picture (or GIF) and it's upside down, like this one:

I flip my laptop around so I can see it better. Yep. And if it's a computer, I flip my head around.

When I was younger, I had the biggest crush on Howard Keel. Loved this man for as long as I could remember. I was obsessed with Calamity Jane and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. He died almost 10 years ago.
Moving on.
Remember how I said I had to go back to work on Monday after arriving on Sunday? Well shit did not go to plan, meaning I am older than I remember and can't hang like I used to, even when 'hanging' constitutes of sitting in uncomfortable ass planes for 24 hours. Plus I had a cold. So I called my boss Monday morning, and thank goodness for the awesomeness that he is and he didn't mind me not coming in. If I had been less effed up, I would have realised calling in sick after a holiday is really stupid, but I was all kinds of not good and my brain was mush.

So I slept until 2pm. Oops. Guess what time I went to sleep on Monday night?

Keep guessing.

I could not go to sleep. I tried. I moved from the bed to the couch, nothing. Finally I got up at 6am and thought eff this.

Right now its 4pm on Tuesday - I have been up for more than 24 hours and I am not feeling good. Stupid jetlag, stupid sleeping Kristen.

I am so tired today that I tried to use the mousepad on my keyboard at work. That is a desktop. There is no mousepad on the keyboard. I'm not even sure if this makes sense.

I have the hiccups. I hate the hiccups. I sound like a tiny toy dog (which I have been told numerous times) and they are so annoying.

me. via

Joe Nichols' song 'yeah' makes me irrationally mad. Like, it's all about agreeing with whatever the girl wants so you can get laid, we get it, however, this is why women start fights because you said you loved that song and you loved that drink, and a year later we play that song or make that drink and you're like ew no. Except you're a guy and don't say ew no. LIES, LIES, LIES.

I really like the song though, super catchy when it's not making me mad.

Anyone watch true blood? It's one of my guilty pleasures. I can't stop watching, it's like a train wreck that long ago left the books behind, and it's just random crazy now.

But Eric, I love you.

sorrynotsorry.
I have tried to catch up with all my reading and commenting, though like I said, mush brain, if I missed you it was not intentional. I didn't have the best internet access at home and so I didn't get to do a lot of the other side of blogging. I tried to catch up, but I had over 300 emails in my inbox (ooh I'm so popular, as if) and approx 1,000,000 things in my bloglovin thing. So, I think I'm caught up, and if I'm not, I think I am.

of course i care... but right now i care about sleep.
Lastly, I know some of you might have just been saying it because it's what you say, but I got a lot of love from people being all like yay, welcome back, it made me feel super loved. And special. So, thank you, I love you too.

  1. to get your body back on track/reset, do what you normally do during the day and stay awake/go to bed and wake up at your regular times, even if you feel like death....the more you stick to your regular schedule, the faster your body will adapt. if you can, take melatonin at night so you can sleep through the night.

    welcome back :)

    thanks for linking up!

  6. I love your no sleep confessions it's like the True Blood hot mess and it's perfect. I still watch it as well. Like honestly WTF is even going on anymore? I miss Eric! I'm honored you caught up on my posts with like an hour of sleep on board. I hope you get over the jet lag soon girl!

  7. I cannot even imagine the jet lag. Hopefully, you'll get back on track soon.

  8. Yay your back... waiting on a vacation post! :)

  9. I love reading your blog because you make me seriously laugh. And I need some laughs in my life. :)
Hope you caught up on your sleep. Oh, and that puppy looks just like my dog when he was a puppy. Cutest thing ever.

  10. I used to watch True Blood, but I haven't seen the last two seasons. There is some major eye candy on that show, but my fave is also Eric.
Hope that you get some rest!

  11. This post is all kinds of awesomeness...partly because it makes absolutely no sense - and thats why I love it!! If you sound anything like that puppy then I would gladly hear you hiccup!! Get some sleep woman!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. OMG, is that a gif from Justified? Because that seriously made my day.

I love your posts. All of them. You make me laugh. And your gif usage is brilliant!

  13. Back to resting for you! On a regular sleep track. Love that your boss was cool like that. After my honeymoon I was supposed to go back in the next day - ended up taking the rest of the week off - no problems (then again they couldn't have said anything anyway!). Hope you rested up last night!

  14. Seven Brides for Seven Sisters is the best movie! I am so happy that I'm not the only one under the age of 85 who likes it. Great hump day confessions and I'm glad you're back so I can continue to laugh ever time I check out your blog.

  15. That travel sounds horrendous!!! WOOF! Glad you were able to take the day off for sure! xoxo

  16. You are the gif queen! While I'm sure your trip was awesome, I do not envy your jet lag and general tiredness. Hope you get some rest! :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ugh I can only imagine how hard it is to get back on track! That puppy, so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I really am so glad you're back. I was worried (because I'm selfish) that you weren't going to have any posts while you were gone. I was so glad that you did. I absolutely LOVE Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. I used to watch it all the time when I still lived at home. The "Yeah" rant made me laugh. It's so catchy that I love it & I never thought about it too deeply. You're correct though, the actual lyrics behind the long are ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hahah this was golden. I do the same thing with sideways gifs!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hope you recover soon! Looking forward to hearing about the trip. That puppy is so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  21. That picture of Eric! I have no words, haha! Ahhh so sorry you're so jetjagged, not being able to sleep makes you feel so awful! I hope you're semi-back on track now!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was jet lagged from Vegas for a month - so I'd basically die if I traveled around the other side of the world!!! :(

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jetlag sucks, I hate when my sleeping schedule's all messed up. I wish I could see True Blood, I really need to subscribe to HBO so I can get HBO Go. They have the best/worst shows.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree, there should be a new man button every week.

MMMMM Eric. I want a piece of that. Can we share? Seriously that man could do all the nasty vampire things he wanted to me. I understand not sleeping. I haven't been doing much of it either. I went to bed at 2 Sunday night and Monday night. Then 3 last night. And I get up early. If I even sleep good!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes, I still watch the crazy train wreck that is True Blood! Love Eric. Sigh. Hope you get back on a better sleep schedule!! That is the worst. When my hubs and I came back from Europe, I was sleeping normal the first night until he woke me up because HE couldn't sleep and he was bored. HOW rude?! haha.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Um....I was OB-sessed with Seven Brides for Seven Brothers when I was younger!! My friends and I would act out the different scenes. (we were the cool ones in class lol)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have SO much catching up to do myself!! And I really think I need to start binging on True Blood. Here's to hoping it's on Netflix? Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Not being able to fall asleep at night is the absolute worst. It's amazing how when you're trying to fall asleep time drags but when your snooze button is going off in the morning, time flies!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love that song!! And the video is actually kind of cute. Welcome back by the way lady! Hope you get that jet lag thing gone pretty soon!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You know why you had a crush on Howard Keel? Because he was a stone cold fox, that's why! You are not alone, I to had a crush on Wild Bill Hickok ;) I'm extremely tired too, I feel your pain!

    ReplyDelete
  31. You are doing better than me with no sleep. I would be under my desk napping right now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey Kristen! I hate it when my sleep pattern is all thrown off! Its the worst... But at least your boss was kool about it and you didn't have to go in!! :) And welcome back girly!! XOXO

  33. oh woof on the sleep thing, isn't getting old such a bitch! I LOLed at the mouse thing though- definitely understandable.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh nooooo get some sleep!! As for true blood I was such a fan in season one then it started to get creepy and I get scared quickly so I had to bow out like the scaredy cat I am. The men are gorgeous though!

Also there is probably nothing worse than hiccups ugh!!

    Now go get some sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  35. You have to regulate your sleeping times :( lack of sleep makes me a cray cray biaaaatch ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love Calamity Jane!!!! And that is all I can say right now because all other thoughts are being eclipsed by my brain singing "I just got back from the windy city, the windy city is mighty pretty" and so on.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've never experienced jet lag, but it doesn't sound fun at all. I hope your sleep schedule gets back on track soon! Love the Hermione gif :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Before I even kept reading, I turned my head upside down to look at the gif. I'm glad I'm not the only one !

    ReplyDelete
  39. I cant even imagine traveling for that long and then having to go to work the next day. Like, no thanks! Glad your boss was cool and you were able to have off! Even if you couldn't go to sleep :(

I have never watched True Blood, but I kept meaning to get in to it. Maybe I still will. Nothing like a good binge watch, right?!

The Peter Pan gif!!! JUST YES!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yesss! Still watching True Blood, and I vote for Alcide for the next Humpday button! And it's awesome that your boss was cool with giving you Monday off- I hope you can finally catch up on some sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I got behind and didnt even bother catching up just marked it all as read and started with today :P
How awesome of your boss, and I hope you get some sleep tonight :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ughhhhhhhh jet lag suckkkkksssss!!! And so does not being able to sleep! That stresses me out to no end because I have one of those bodies that if I miss a few hours of sleep out of my normal schedule I can't function! Totally sucks! Oh and I totally do the head tilt if something is upsidedown! it's crazy how much clearer it is haha! And yessssss we all missed you sooooo!!!!!

  43. hahaha I love that you admit your brain is mush! When I worked on-call doing overnight shifts in addition to my full-time day job I literally would just sit and stare at the wall from 8-10am and hope nobody needed anything,

    ReplyDelete
  44. Totally agree about the Yeah song! Drives me bananas. But it is SO CATCHY.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i get hiccups all the time and i have no idea why. it is so annoying. good luck getting caught back up on your sleep

    ReplyDelete
  46. Haha, hilarious. I watch True Blood, too. It's totally crazy, but somehow I keep watching?

    ReplyDelete
  47. omg you poor tired thing! I feel for you. Hope you're getting back to normal today! That puppy is too cute I want to just squeeze my computer right now because AWWW! And I've never heard that song but I'm already full of rage just from your description, so I'm thinking it's a good thing I haven't heard it haha. And YES to True Blood, but I haven't watched Sunday's ep yet! I need to get on that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. so sorry you feel so bad! hope you are feeling better soon and oh. my. goodness...so many hot men!

  51. I have totally tried to use my nonexistent touchpad on my work computer keyboard. I always feel like the biggest dufus. My hiccups make me sound like a donkey and they are OBNOXIOUSLY loud, so I mean, it could be worse...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh Kristen you always crack me up babe. So where are you now with all the traveling? I haven't been caught up? And I hope you have at least been able to get some rest - I know first hand how jet lag fucks up EVERYTHING esp when in different time zones! And True Blood is crazy. This season will be wild. But Tara is not dead, no way. Eric is my dream man, I would drink his bath water. LOL. Love you!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lol! These confessions were AWESOME! I totally do the flip thing if something is upside down!

And I get the keyboard/mousepad thing. I've done it before too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't blame you for needing to stay home after you got back! That is a hard ass adjustment to make!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I literally LOL'd so hard reading this! I once tried to check my voicemail after returning to the office after a vacay by repeatedly hitting the speaker button (instead of the message button) to no avail until I eventually gave up and put my phone on "do not disturb" mode for the rest of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I do love the song Yeah but I know what you mean. Mmmm Eric, so hot. Hope you finally get some sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I can't imagine running on no sleep for that long! I would die! :) I hope your body and mushy brain get back to normal in no time! When I was just off on vacation for 2 weeks I came back to a million unread bloglovin' newsfeed too... and I finally got to the point where I was like that gif... I doooon't caaaaare! Haha :)
