Linking up with Kathy for the funniest link up... I seriously love reading all the confessions so, do it. mmk?
Now before you all think I am the worst wife ever, I don't really mind. He works really hard and I could not do his job for one thousand million dollars. His kids are
I read The Fault In Our Stars on Monday and ohmagawd. So many feels.
It was like Grey's Anatomy plane crash sobbing, the kind of sobbing that makes KC turn around and
And then I just really wanted like an hour long hug. I am a super emotional person, you guys.
Will post my review tomorrow, so you can plan to avoid the blog if you hate books or book reviews.
Happier stuff. I got a pay raise.
Best thing about living overseas is that you very very rarely run into someone you don't want to see. It still happens sometimes, but not often and no awkward primary school run ins.
And of course, I always look my best when running into people I don't want to see, or when we see people that my husband knows and I don't. Which happens a lot in Louisville.
We leave for Australia in 2 weeks and 1 day. You bet your bottom dollar I will be reminding you of this all the live long day. I am so excited I JUST CANT HANDLE IT. Jk, I can handle it. We have so much fun stuff planned, I cannot wait to see my family and eat all of the food. I feel like doing a little dance just thinking about it.
I know I am the queen of the too long posts, so I tried really hard to make this one short!
my husband used to be a teacher and he sort of hated being off for the summer because the pay is shit. you get like, 4% of your salary which is jack if you have high rent or a mortgage. so he would work two jobs and then spend the day at the beach every single day. not a bad deal, i'll admit!
ReplyDeletethanks for linking up!

I'd like to be an alcoholic with Summers off with you!!! I am all about the daytime drinking! I make Mark hug me for uncomfortably long times as well....I just like to remind him on a daily basis how crazy I am ;-) Yeah pay raise!!!!! Cheers and show me what is in your online shopping cart......I mean.....
ReplyDeleteGirl Mark knows everyone in town and we always run into like some judge when I'm looking like a hot mess in my Barre clothes.....so now they all probably think I'm a stripper who just got off her night shift.
Yeah!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for your trip! You definitely need to write a post about how to handle long plane rides! xoxoxo
congrats on the raise!!! and jealous of australia - how long will you be there?
ReplyDeleteSo how does it work having school year round, which I'm guessing is how they do it in Australia? Do you get weeks off at a time for vacation? Congrats on your pay raise!! Maybe you've already said and I forgot, but how long do you get to visit Australia?
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS look like crap whenever I run into people I know. And unfortunately I live close to where I went to school for 13 years, so it happens a lot.
ReplyDeleteLove all the GIFs as usual! I wish I had the summers off. I originally went to college for teaching but changed my mind my 3rd year, now I secretly kick myself for it every summer!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for your vacation too!!! You're going to have such a great time!
ReplyDeleteSCORE on the pay raise! :) Congrats!
Annnnnd I usually skip book reviews but I love ya, and I want to read that book next, so I'll stop by :)
I'm reading A Fault in Our Stars now...but I'm only on Chapter 2 so I will have to skip your review tomorrow and come back when I finish. I don't like sad books though :( It would be hard for me to get up everyday the whole summer and my husband get to enjoy the sun and sleep in...boo :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous you're going to Australia!! Oh and I read The Fault In Our Stars on Sunday... OMG so sad!!!! Definitely never saw that coming! I used to get summers off and I still resent that the kids get them off. Mainly because I don't get them off any more LOL!

Yay for a pay raise! That does call for shopping!

I want summer off too. Let's send the kids back to school and the adults can play all summer long! I need to read that book. I've been wanting to but il be an east breezy read and I don't wanna buy a book I'll finish in a day. #FirstWorldProblems
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of summers off too....wah! not fair.
ReplyDeleteLove me some champagne on the beach and that last gif. Baby dancing is amazing.
That gif is so perfect for post-TFiOS reading.
ReplyDeleteJust the other day I was thinking it would be quite nice if every profession got 3 months off during the year. How much happier would everyone be?? haha I can't bring myself to read TFIOS, I couldn't even watch the entire movie trailer! Looks so sad- though I've heard it's such a good story.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't get summers off as a kid?!! That seems so unfair! I am jealous of all teachers with their summer vacations but you're right, it's hard work and I could (and would) never do it. I am so excited about your book review. I've been hearing about this book but don't actually know what it's about besides that it'll make me cry (so I already know I'll love it). Have you heard of The History of Love? I bawled like a baby afterwards and felt like I needed some serious comfort.
ReplyDeleteWait... you didn't have summers off OR tampons w/ applicators?!?! AUSTRALIA, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Kristen! You are SO lucky you dont have to bump into someone you know! I hate it SO much! I dont live in Brooklyn where I grew up anymore, I live in the Bronx but were constantly running into my bf's friends or family...everrrywhere. It makes me irrationally angry! lol ;)

Yay for Australia! And congrats on the pay raise. That is very exciting!
ReplyDeleteYay for only two weeks till Aussie trip! Sucks that you didnt get summer's off at school girl but I know your seasons are different. We got "summers off' but of course Christmas where I live might as well be summer time so it really didnt matter when we got that 3 month break just the fact that we got it! haha
ReplyDeleteI literally just bought The Fault in Our Stars on my Kindle before I read this. I'm kind of scared to read it now. That was a rough Grey's episode for me. I kind of gave up trying to look nice when I go out in public. I always run into someone I know & quite frankly putting on makeup just to go to the bank & get gas got old a long time ago. Also, jeans are overrated - running tights & norts all the way.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a teacher and I had a love/hate relationship with having summers off. I would no doubt be an alcoholic if I had to do that job year-round, BUT having all that time in the summer to do nothing kind of made me go crazy. It's kind of boring because no one else is off, except your teacher friends...and all you do is TALK about hanging out even though you both know you're too lazy to get off your couch and actually meet up.
ReplyDeleteI have my teaching degree but Im not a teacher....having the summer off sure would be nice!
ReplyDeleteSo wait, what's the structure in Australia? Do they go to school all year round??
ReplyDeleteI have The Fault in Our Stars in my line-up. I'm kind of terrified because I'm already an emotional mess!
YAY, congrats on the raise! That is such awesome news.
THAT BABY GIF! Too freakin cute! So excited for you to see your family back home! :)
the fault in our stars looks like it's going to be really cute. hopefully not too sad!! wish i had read the book. i suppose i have time though! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to have to read that book... everyone is damn talking about it!!!
ReplyDeleteOh what I would do for a summer off haha! I've been hearing a lot of positive things about that book, may have to read it
ReplyDeleteThat book is on my reading list! I knew it was going to be a tear jerker...so I have avoided it for a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had summers off. Ohhhh the things I could do with an entire summer!!!
Yay for pay raises!!! Congrats!
hahahahaha I feel the same way about seeing people... I always look like a hot mess and am instantly super mad that I don't have an outfit on. Dude, that book.......cry town, usa. Are you up for the movie?
ReplyDeleteI cant even tell you how much I love that baby gif - it's one of my favorites!! Congratulations on the pay raise that's awesome!! I hope you'll be blogging Australia or I'll be sad!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of my teacher friends- they get the whole summer off, all those vacations and tons of long weekends. And here they got lots of snow days too. NOT FAIR.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your vacation! I'm super emotional about books. I try to read only at home because I'm the crazy lady who yells at the book or bursts into tears. My husband doesn't get it lol. He doesn't like to read so he will never understand.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is going to school now and has the summer off. Well, he's working for 6 weeks of it and probably has the rest off. Meanwhile, I'm just excited that it's a three day weekend this weekend!! *does nerdy cabbage patch dance* Hoorah for pay raises and vacation!!
ReplyDeleteAdults who get summer's off are the worst! Jealous of your trip to Australia, how exciting!
ReplyDeleteI miss having summers off! I think it should be included in EVERY job! Hah. And I read The Fault in Our Stars last week in one sitting and bawled. I actually have free tickets to an advanced screening of the movie tomorrow. I should probably prepare that box of tissues. :)
ReplyDeleteOh man, summers off would be amazing. My husband went back to school this past year so he is off now and he has been playing A LOT of golf. I am happy for him (sarcasm).
ReplyDeleteAnd the Fault in Our Stars - sooo good and soooo sad!
What?! You didn't get summers off in Australia?! How did you function as a child?! But I don't blame you for being mad haha! Especially of my husband got summers off! Totally not fair!! I can't read sad book/movies I get way too embarrassed when I start crying my eyes out!! So jeally of your Aussie adventures coming up! That's one country I really want to visit!!

I always say when I run out in yoga pants & no make up, "I guarantee I'll see someone"... & yep... it happens.
ReplyDeleteThat book... so freaking sad... & I can't wait to torture myself with the movie. I'm taking the girls from my youth group I teach... safe to cry in the midst of teenage girls :) haha
I would love having summers off again! Congrats on the raise, more shopping! I really want to read that book I just have so many already downloaded I need to catch up.
ReplyDeleteOh I feel soooooo sorry for your husband and his "work" summer. WOMP WOMP.
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely emtional too...I even cried watching Frozen. I've heard this is a great book though. May have to get it for this weekend! I was reading "Dear John" on the beach one time and trying to muffle my sobs when my husband tells me I'm gonna have to stop crying or put the book up in public. The only time I wish I had become a teacher is when all my teacher friends start posting on Facebook how they have the next two months off. Any other time, I can't handle 20 bratty kids at one time.
ReplyDeletehahahhaha I can relate to sooo many of these!!!! I really do want to read the fault in our stars even though it's a tear jerker!

Congrats on the raiiiiise! I wish I had summers off but I work in a school and it gets slower sooooo that kind of counts? I didn't love Fault in Our Stars. I know, I'm one of the few. I'll go sit alone in the corner now :)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on your pay raise!! Might I suggest the current Express 50% off promotion for some major deals today? Hee hee. As always, thanks for the laughs. Love the excited baby and Blake Lively quote. Fake pleasantries....ughhhh...must we? And are you the queen of the too long posts? I don't know about that. I think you have some serious rivals on that contest but I'm not naming names here....
ReplyDeleteGina -- On the Daily Express
Congrats on the pay raise!!! And I just finished reading that book too!! Ummm yeah I went through a box of Kleenex in no time flat toward the end...like OMG it was just waterworks for the last 50 or so pages. I'm interested to see how the movie will be!
ReplyDeleteCheers to a raise AND your trip being right around the corner! Love good news :)
ReplyDeleteYay for a pay raise and more shopping-fashion-blog posts. :) I like the long posts btw.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of schools in California are year-round schools and if they had them up here I would send my son to one of those. The Fault in Our Stars made me ugly cry, multiple times. Congrats on the pay raise!!
ReplyDeletethank god i finished reading the fault in our stars when i had a hotel room to myself because i cried and cried and cried
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the pay raise!! yay!!! More shopping! LOL! I don't blame you for counting down the days to your trip! I would be too! If it's any consulation... I'm also counting down the days for the next two weeks until my brother comes home to visit! Ya know, growing up I always wanted to be a teacher JUST for the reason that they get summers off! Haha! But now where we live there are some schools that are going to start year round and I tell ya, people are pissed off! Good thing I could care less cause I don't have chillin's.
ReplyDeleteSo obviously I am a dumb dumb b/c I didn't realize you lived in L-ville a mere 1.5ish hours form me before I moved for the summer. Now the only question remains will you be back in Louisville come Fall? Also congrats on the pay raise whoop whoop!! (and again excuse my dumb-dumb-ness lol)
ReplyDeleteOMG that image of the little girl is too cute! Fault In Our Stars is on my summer reading list as soon as I finish the Divergent books.
ReplyDeleteOh I have to read the Fault In Our Stars asap! I have a strict rule that I have to read the book before ever seeing the movie. I'm sure it's checked out of every library right now though!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I wish I was heading to Australia with you!! I went there a few years ago and it was the best time of my life!!
I think The Fault In Our Stars is going to be the next book I buy. I'm about halfway through Lone Survivor & then I have Mindy Kaling's book. After than though I'm gonna need a new one & the movie looks so good.
ReplyDeleteI swear I always run into people I don't want to see when I have just ran and smell awful or when I didn't do my hair and makeup that day. #inevitable
ReplyDeletegood lord by bf has the best work schedule and when he complains about things it makes me crazy! Happy for him of course. OMG the Fault in our Start....so much ugly crying, but I loved the writing. I will most likely not be seeing the movie, too much. Woohoo for Australia!
ReplyDeleteYay for getting to visit home!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I run into the local grocery store after the gym I keep my eyes peeled because I know I will definitely be running into someone I know and honestly I just don't want to waste more time standing there talking to them!
ReplyDeleteI seriously cannot wait to see pictures from Australia!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't happen in Chicago but I swear everytime I'm at home and I run out real quick and pray I don't see anyone, I always do. It never fails. And I'm so sad for you that you didn't get summers off as a kid!!!! I think you need to make your own summer break one year! It was the best part about being a kid - that and Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteugh, running into people when you look bad is so the worst. it never fails that i will see at least 2 people in my hometown grocery store when visiting my parents. hope you have fun in australia, i will be living vicariously through you! :)
