This little part will focus on outerwear, including cardigans and sweaters. Two of my favourite things...
I don't think it's a secret that I love me some cardis. I may or may not have four on my packing list for Aus.

I love cardigans because they are fabulous and functional. They keep you warm-ish, are great layering pieces and can change the look of an outfit in an instant. Boom. I have a ton of cardis but I think in 'essential' terms I could live with 2 neutral and 2 colours / patterns. I prefer solid colour cardis (as you can tell) though I am currently crushing on #1 and #5.

Sweaters. I love that I can throw one of these on, be comfy, casual and look sort of put together.
I am a little more adventurous in patterns when it comes to sweaters.

I absolutely love the 'oversized sweater' look, but not sure if I can pull it off. I had one in red and didn't like the fit, so out it went. I just bought this one from ASOS, debating on whether or not to return it. Help?

ignore the horrible photos, I was trying to plan Aus outfits. yup. |
Cardigans and Sweaters make up a lot of my winter wardrobe.
I have just started venturing into the world of blazers. It took awhile for me to find some I like because I kept picking up certain styles / types and they didn't look the way I wanted them to. I thought it was me, but then I just figured out what I wanted was a more fitted style, not the boyfriend style I kept picking up. Maybe one day I will venture to the boyfriend style, but it is not this day.....

i couldn't help it, i just couldn't |
I have yet to try a coloured blazer, but I am luh-oving the coral ones I see everywhere. Too adorable.
Also, a striped blazer. Ok, ok I just want all the blazers.

Another love I have just discovered are denim jackets. I have seen them all over the interwebs, but kept trying them on and thought I looked too much like my child-self. I used to rock the most awesome denim jacket that my mum put pink stuff all over. I forget what that stuff is called, but she drew flowers and whatnot and I am pretty sure I was the coolest 6th grader ever.
Anywho, finally found one I liked and it's also on the packing list for Aus.
There are tons of denim jacket options out there, and I think its definitely a staple piece. Do you agree? If you're not a denim fan, I am loving the olive jackets that are everywhere, but not sure if I am game enough to try one / will actually wear it.

I love me some faux leather jackets, though to be completely honest I don't wear them as often as I'd like because they aren't as comfy as cardigans or big coats.
A good everyday, warm coat is a must (unless you live in a warmer climate, if so - I'm jealous). When I lived in Sydney, I only had one big warm coat that I broke out like, 5 times a year if that. So, obviously it depends on where you live and stuff like that.
I got a new coat this winter that has a faux fur trimmed hood and I love love love love it. It is so warm and comfy and cute (imo). Its more of a fun coat, not one I wear to work. It will definitely be coming with me to Aus, even though it won't be that cold I am a big ol baby, so there's that justification.
Also, I have never owned a trench coat or even a more 'all weather' jacket, because I haven't needed it. I imagine you would need it somewhere like Forks (don't stone me), Seattle or London. Of course, I know you don't need to live somewhere like that to own one of these, I just know I personally would not wear them enough to warrant purchasing either.
Whew! That was a lot. Did I miss anything? I'm sure I did! Are my essentials like yours, or completely different?
Next up (and last!) are all the fun things - shoes, bags & accessories.

Where did you get your denim jacket? That's what I've been looking for lately but I can't find one I like!

I absolutely love the striped tee + denim jacket look. So simple yet pulled-together.
ReplyDeleteI bought myself a denim jacket maybe 15 years ago from Old Navy and that thing wears like iron - no fading or pilling or any signs of aging at all.
I love the Asos sweater - definitely keep it!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I love me some cardigans. But... I cannot believe the jean jacket is coming back! Or maybe it's back already? Oh gosh. I don't know if I'm ready.
ReplyDeleteI seriously have an unhealthy obsession with cardigans LOL! And I LOVE my jean jacket, I'm on the hunt for a darker one now but I love that they're in style again. Loving that oversized sweater from ASOS! A good oversized sweater is definitely a must!
