Five On Friday #2

I'm linking up with AprilChristinaNatasha and the gang again for my second Five on Friday! So let's jump straight into it.

1. thredUP.
go. now. fun.
Am I the last to find out about how awesome thredUP is? I first stumbled across its loveliness whilst reading the hilarity that is The Camp (if you don't know who I am talking about, go. Now. I'll wait.) and I admit I was not taken with the style of the website. I find eBay is a lot more user friendly, but I thought eBay was difficult when I first started, so I made myself go back and look for more. It's hard not to look for specific things, but also kind of brilliant - because I found some things that I probably wouldn't have searched for otherwise. Now, don't get me wrong - eBay is still my lover, and goodwill my mistress. But it never hurts to have extra avenues!

Apparently, thredUP has some sort of referral thing, and you get a certain amount off by clicking on someone's referral code - I'm not 100% sure but I clicked through Camp's link and when I went to check out I had a $10 off coupon in my cart.  Booyah. Also, check out retail me not- I think I saw a 30% off your first purchase.  So, I was gonna get 2 skirts (Talbots & Liz Claiborne) for about $18, with $10 off it was $7 something - and then I had $1 in my paypal balance for some reason so it was only $6 something out of my bank account. You guys, that's like goodwill prices. Not even eBay is that good. Includes shipping and taxes and everything.

2. Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish
walgreens / drugstore
Hi, I am officially the worst nail polish painter in the world. Nice to meet you!

I am not even joking. Horrible. I don't think I have ever painted my nails and not removed them immediately because they looked horrible, or I ruined them by smudging or something. But I am trying to take more pride in my overall appearance which includes but is not limited to fashion, hair, makeup and nails. I don't want to spend a lot on anything, and I was browsing my other home when I saw these. Small, cute, pretty and less than $2 each. So I picked up the four you see in the middle (L-R: sweet lavender, stand to attention, mintilicious and caramel cupcake) and went on my merry way. I used the purple last week and the red this week. Seriously, all week. They are a little chipped right now, but it's Friday and normally by Monday half of my nails would be ruined and I would have removed it by noon. So yeah, I am pretty stoked. I am going to buy some more, and maybe next week I will rock the mint!

3. All things mint!

Nail polish, clothes, accessories.. Obsessed with mint right now, except anything that is mint flavoured. Yuck.
how cute are these? i want. from asos.
no source. but i love all the things.
old navy cardi

ermygawd. polka dots and mint y'all. gimmie. 2bstores.
it's a pity winter is almost over - right?!? please tell me winter is almost over.
otherwise, i might buy this scarf from sole society.
pretty, pretty, so so pretty from forever21.

4. Europe Planning.

I love to plan. Once I said to KC 'I wrote this plan for ..' and he laughed and said 'you, plan? no way'. I think he was being sarcastic.

So, naturally, before we have even left for our trip to Australia, I have already planned our Europe trip - possibly, hopefully, fingers crossed it happens - in 2015.

Here's what I have planned.

Dublin. It's oodles cheaper to fly from KY to Dublin than it is to fly to London. So, duh. Cheaper is better. Plus, Dublin? Yes please.
London. I have been to London twice - it was my first overseas trip and I went with my Nana to visit my family. I got tons of sightseeing in as well, and it was an amazing experience. The second time was with KC and our friends. He was sick for a lot of the time, and while he enjoyed himself, he is not super keen on going back. I am adamant that I can make him love this city as much as I do. Also, I haven't seen my family in almost 7 years.
France. I am most excited to see you. I have wanted to go for so long, I don't care if it is cliche or overrated or any of the things. I want to. Excuse me while I cry over the beauty of this wonderful country.
Italy. Another country I am so very excited to see. It looks absolutely amazing and beautiful, and the food. We shall eat the food.
Berlin. I'm not gonna lie, the next 2 cities are mainly for KC. Of course, I want to see them as well, but I am more excited about the above places and would rather spend more time in them than trying to do to much in too little time. He is not too excited and wanting to do this Europe trip like I am. But when the boy gives an opinion, I make note and make sure it happens, because it doesn't happen often. And I'm not taking my places off the list!

Amsterdam. Ok, who wouldn't want to see this awesome city?

Alright you guys, that is my Europe planning so far - as far as destinations go, anyway. I have already decided which areas and most of the hotels, as long as nothing changes too much between now and 2015 (ha!). I am so excited. I am more excited for this than I am for Australia - though I'm sure the Australia excitement will rear it's head soon.

5.  Pride and Prejudice.

Random, possibly. The best thing on this list? By far. Jokes.

My love affair with pride and prejudice started when I was about 17, and it is a strong one.

I love all things pride and prejudice. I may have mentioned that previously. I love the book, the BBC series, the Keira Knightley movie – I even like Lost in Austen, the spin offs and sequels (ahem..) and love Bridget Jones. Don’t judge me.

I can literally have the Keira Knightley movie playing on repeat for 2 weeks straight. In fact, I have. I had 2 weeks in between jobs, and I would start it in the morning and stop it when KC got home. I wouldn’t pay 100% attention, but I would fold the washing, muck about on the internet, make lunch etc whilst it was on. Every now and again, I’d look up and watch it like I’d never seen it before. Seriously. I love it. It’s not so much the movie I love, although I do love it, it’s the characters and the story that I’m in love with. As I am sure millions of people are. Jane Austen’s books aren’t classics for nothing.

Anywho. So for all my other Jane Austen fans out there, here are some of my favourite pride and prejudice things :
left / right
i love the idea of framing these somewhere - like the master bedroom.
one. two. three. four. five. six. seven. eight. nine.
i want all of these bags, and especially want that mug.

Boom. Second Five on Friday Done. Holla.

My Week In Outfits

This week was my first at a new job and I really wanted to take a little more pride in my appearance than I usually do. I am quite lazy and would roll out of bed, brush my teeth and put on the same uniform every day if I let myself - black pants and a sweater (I am always cold). Five on Friday #1

I'm linking up with Darci and the gang (aka the hundreds of other link ups) for my first Five on Friday - why not, right?

1. These wipes.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Refill Pack - 25 Count
walgreens target
I know they are everywhere and you have most likely seen them / used them / think they are over priced for wipes (no? just me? ok then). I went to buy some make up removal wipes the other day and was, as usual, peeved that they are like $6 for 20 something wipes. I know that's not a lot, but when I plan to use them to go to the gym after work (no makeup in the gym, yo. I'd look like a dead raccoon in 0.05 seconds) that goes pretty fast. So I bought the cheapy walgreens wipes and have to use like 10 of them to remove my makeup - and I don't wear a lot of makeup. So yeah. I went and bought some of these beauts as I know they work, and whatevs. Sometimes homebrand is the way to go, sometimes it isn't.

2. These things!

I have always been skeptical of these types of things actually working, and also I don't really worry if I stain something until I get home and spray some stuff on it. But on Monday (first day at new job!) I was wearing a pretty white DKNY blouse and my nose was bleeding (common occurrence whatchagonnado) and I sneezed. On my pretty shirt. I was not impressed. A lovely lady at work had these, showed me how to use it and I kid you not, 3 seconds later the blood was gone. I promptly ordered some online about 5 minutes later. Seriously. Amazeballs, you guys. Amazeballs.

3. Entry Table / Gallery Wall.

As you know, we bought our first house in December, and I immediately wanted to fill it with furniture and decor that would hopefully make it look like pinterest threw up in my house. However, with that stuff costing money, and my husband being the sworn enemy of spending said money - that's on hold right now. I did, however, get a fancy new entry table from target! hooray! so I get to decorate one thing and I am so excited. However, I have noticed that I do not have a pinterest bone in my body, so I am relying heavily on copying other people.

So, this is kinda what I am going for with the entry table:

Entryway table: cool lamp, small dish to hold keys/change, small file holder (napkin holder) for mail, and a candle....maybe build in cubbies/baskets underneath for shoes?
PB&J Stories
So far, I have this lampshade (thanks mum!) and this pitcher I plan to use as a vase.

Then I want to do a gallery wall thingy above it. I don't want it to be crazy full on, and I also want to mix it up with photos, art and other stuff. Great wording, I know. But you can see what I mean in this picture below, I absolutely adore the style of this - overall I think I will have more stuff, and it won't be going up stairs, but I love the canvases, the different frames, the letter, and the little 'home' and 'it's a wonderful life' hangy thingys. If anyone knows where I can get things like that - hit me up. I have looked to no avail.

i really like this wall of photos etc.
I do not know where this pic is from! If you do, let me know and I'll update.

4. This print from ShopLittles:

Nursery Art - Inspired by- Disney Pixar Movie -Up-Print- 8 x 10
This print

So, as I said above, I want a mix of art and photos. I wanted a bunch of things - I think I have more ideas than I do wall space - like KC's favourite book series print, doctor who stuff, maybe a pride and prejudice print.. So much. Anyway, I also wanted something Disney-ish but not in your face Disney, if you know what I mean. Then I saw this print - how cute is it! KC has a soft spot for the movie Up, and we just bought our first house and I love that its so understated and pretty. This listing is for 8x10 and I didn't want anything that big so I sent a quick note and asked if she would do a 5x7 and she totally did, and created a custom listing for me, stat. Can't wait to receive it - now to find a pretty frame for it!

5.  This pretty little beauty.

Birthday present from the hubby. He did good. I love my hubby, but he kind of sucked in the present giving area when we got together. He tried (he actually did really good our first Christmas) and I am by no means trying to say that presents mean more than presence, or other important things - just that I love birthdays and Christmas and I love giving presents - and I am not really a flowers kinda gal. After some not so subtle hinting, he popped off to Sephora. I have been having lots of fun playing with it and trying different looks this week - I am by no means good at doing makeup, but have been learning lots thanks to youtube and friends. It helps when you have good products, and this is definitely a good product! I am thinking about getting the basic one as I can never have too many browns in my makeup stash. And its cheaper, so boom.

First Five on Friday a success, I do think!

I'm Back... Again.

So, I clearly don't rock at this blogger thing. I tried, and quit. I deleted this blog. It wasn't interesting to me, and if I don't want to read it, why would anyone else?

Today, I un-deleted the blog. Not sure why. I still want to write things, I just wish I had more exciting things to write about. But I'm gonna take another whack at it!

So, what has changed since my last post? Well, lots.

I deleted the blog in November.

We moved out of our apartment and in with my mother in law for about a week, because, surprise! We bought a house. I had been dreaming of houses (thanks HGTV) but it seemed so far away. Turns out it wasn't, and we closed on the house and moved in early December.

We haven't done a whole lot to the house - painted our bedroom, moved our stuff in and that's about it. We have a lot of things we want to do, and hopefully spring and summer will see us completing a lot of house projects.

Christmas came and went. So did NYE - we didn't do anything crazy - in fact, I think hubby went to bed before midnight.

we loves props.

hubby decided to rock a beard for a little while. it died a few days later.

Penny absolutely loved the tree skirt. Glitter + cat = great idea.

It is now February, my birthday is next week. January went by with a lot of snow and snuggly nights. I just cannot be bothered doing a whole lot, the weather really makes you want to stay inside and stay warm. I cannot wait for spring!

I am still in the wardrobe rut I wrote about last blog post. I have gained weight because of winter and I'm lazy. I have 4 races coming up that I am not as prepared as I should be for.

Oh, and we are going to Australia! In the summer, I am so excited. It's only for 2 and a bit weeks, but I am so excited to see my friends and family and introduce KC to my life before him. I know I spoke about Europe this summer, but that will be next summer (fingers crossed). Going home is more important right now.

I start a new job in a couple of weeks, I am really going to make an effort to take pride in my appearance - all of those things I'm not good at. With the help of and pinterest, I think I can do it.

I guess that's really it - I hope I can continue to blog regularly, even if I am the only one reading it!
